Perfect location - close to the station and even closer to the start of the cycle route. Such a cool decor. Great breakfast. So handy for renting a bike. We booked it very last minute and it turned out to be one of our favourite stays of our Japan trip.

We really enjoyed this hotel--we were using this as a spot to start the Shimanami Kaido. I would maybe liked coming back here for the second night, after the ride, but we chose to stay at the town where the ride ends, since it made more sense logistically. The hotel is really nice--nicely appointed rooms, very comfortable beds, a helpful laundry room, wonderful staff and a great breakfast. They forwarded our luggage too, which was helpful. A helpful member of the staff (Socki) went above and beyond and made a phone call for us, to help us plan our next leg of the itinerary (what train to take the following day to connect with a ferry we needed to get to)--it was quite helpful to us.

The location of the Hotel Cycle is perfect. on the waterfront and a 7 minute walk from the train station. The bakery is wonderful for all your breakfast or afternoon needs to enjoy either inside or in the sunny promenade. Highly recommend the restaurant, service, food fabulous and make sure to have fruit gin and tonic. Comfortable beds, washing machines on site and a big deep bath for soaking after a day or twos bike riding. All staff amazing from the people at the front reception desk to the staff in the restaurant. Don’t miss this town and place on your next trip to Japan.

Hotel is housed in a very unique complex which you could find flower shop, cafes, cellars, etc. Guests can rent various types of bikes (some are very professional models) from the Hotel despite there is a bike rental shop, Giant, inside the complex. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was also very helpful. They can tune the bikes and arrange baggage delivery for the guests. The hotel has a very contemporary and minimalistic look. Guests can sit outside and enjoy the peaceful harbor view. It's also very close to the JP station.

Great hotel for cycling the Shimanami Kaido, we really loved the place and the staff were fantastic. As an Aussie who travels the world a lot with the family and our bikes, some things to potentially help others as detailed info is a bit hard to come by. Do not bring your own bike! Hire options are plenty and if you bring your own there is no option to get back from Imabari with your bike. If you do bring your own bike the Sedota Port Ferry is your only option back - cash only. Yamato is your friend, do not travel with your luggage in Japan (or your bikes either) - but if you want them to transport your bike - keep the combined dimensions of your bike bag under 2metres (length + breadth + height) The hotel is super helpful and there is Giant in the hotel and plenty of places along the front board walk to hire bikes from. They were all surprisingly good bikes in great condition too.

We went late September and it was still unbearbaly hot (38°C most days) , everyone told us this was not typical and the heat broke a few days after we left. Its like Brisbane hot - gets hot early and the sun was intense.... We rode early and got the first ferry across to the trail every morning at 6:06am and were out of the sun by 9:30-10am.

The room was exactly right for a one night stay, as its proximity to a public footpath precluded a clear view of the waterway (glass was smoked with additional blinds for privacy). The staff were excellent - attentive and friendly even though we spoke no Japanese. The onsite restaurant was excellent, with a predominantly fish-based menu (of course). One tip: they will deliver your food EXACTLY as ordered - i.e., when I changed my mind and added an appetiser after I'd already chosen my main, my delicious fish broth starter was faithfully delivered - last! (which actually worked pretty well...)

In all practicality there is little more that could be done, given this is a converted warehouse, bordered by public areas on all sides. We missed having a view from our ground floor room, but better to have no view than the public having a clear view of you!

Very convenient to train station, bus stop and bike rental. The room and bathroom was so big I couldn't believe it! We stayed here before a planned ride on the Shimanami Kaido. I had planned a 2 day bike ride where we would get bikes and stay at a hotel, located on an island about half way. Planned through the island hotel ebike delivery, luggage transfer and bike pick up in Imabari for three that was going to cost $360. (this didn't even include the room rate) Forecasted rain canceled the scheduled ride we were hoping to do. However, my daughter and I made a last minute plan to do the ride a day early just renting an ebike from the bike rental shop on the boardwalk near the hotel. We decided to see if ebikes were available around 10 am and by 10:30 we had paid $60 for 2 ebikes and we were at the Ferry ready to start. I would recommend staying at Hotel Cycle, renting ebikes nearby and taking the bus back. It's totally doable in 1 day, but I would start way earlier than 10:30am. The Hotel Cycle is convenient to everything. We walked to a covered market area with a delicious bakery and the ropeway. A short bus ride took us to Shin Onomichi station where we took the train for a day trip to Miyajima and then Hiroshima and back.

(1) Exceeded Expectations: During my stay, my belongings spilled all over beside the coffee and tea cupboard. I picked everything that I saw up, and checked out the next day. I stayed outside of the U2 Onomichi Hotel Cycle entrance for a while. Suddenly a female staff ran out and told me “you forgot something”. I saw my travel adapter in her hand. I was so thankful that she came out of the hotel to see if we were still around! It would have been a disaster as I was proceeding to the Shimanami Kaido cycling trip and would be unable to charge any of the electronic devices. (2) Checking In: Very smooth. I requested for a Level 1 room, and we got a Level 1 room. Clear instructions were given about security and breakfast hours. Male staff helped us carry our luggage to the hotel room when we were struggling with our folding bicycles. Very happy with the ramps for bicycles to be pushed around smoothly. (3) Room: Hotel Cycle’s own branding of drip Coffee and tea bag provided in the room was so tasty! Really nice kettle too!!! wow there is a humidifier in the room! Very nice room for a couple to stay in. (4) Location: Very good. U2 Onomichi is very near Onomichi station. Lots of food and nice souvenir shops. (5) Breakfast: Very tasty! Happy with variety too! (6) Coin Laundry - Wash and Dry Cycle: Clothes were so dry and fresh after washing! (7) Water Dispenser provided near hotel counter, along with bottled water helps to keep me hydrated!

Fantastic small hotel in an old waterfront warehouse that has been redeveloped. Very he,Paul and friendly staff. 10min walk from Onomichi station. Food in restaurant was very tasty and wine and beer at reasonable prices. The hotel is on the harbour front with the rooms at one end and a large open area containing cafe, restaurant, bar, the Giant cycle shop and clothing/gift shop at the other. You can walk along the wooden broad-walk to the city centre and to the Shimanami bicycle hire centre in the car park about 5mins to collect or return bikes if you are cycling the Shimanami-Kaido trail. The little ferry that takes you to the other side of the harbour and the start of the trail is about another 300meters along the broad walk.

The hotel has a unique, modern vibe as part of a renovated warehouse with restaurant, bar and shop. It is very bike-oriented. The room was compact and comfortable and we loved the bathroom design. It is convenient to the train station and the bike route. The hotel and restaurant were pricier than other places we stayed, but no regrets with the choice. Our dinner in the restaurant was excellent. The boardwalk with tables to sit outside facing the water is another plus. The breakfast was tasty and nicely served and breakfast bar was well-stocked. We enjoyed the fresh juices. Suggest renting bike down the street (not next to hotel) since you can return it at multiple places along the path if you don't do the entire route. Bike rental is convenient and right next to the ferry.

We suggest better signage on the side facing the road from the train station as it was not obvious finding the hotel entrance.
