The inn is in a quite new and modern white building, and there is a bar on the ground floor. It is small, but cozy. The room is clean, and view is great. There is a rooftop space available to guests 24 hours. Location is good, about 5 mins walking distance to JR station. Staffs speak few English, but very friendly and helpful. Google translation and some local translation device works well.

The room is small, hardly to open a 28inch suitcase, but it is quite normal in Japan.

This hotel is great - it is literally right on the water and we had an amazing view from our room. This is a small hotel (only 16 rooms I think) so has the feeling of a friendly boutique hotel. The room was western style, and smallish (but not unusual by Japanese standards) and immaculately clean - certainly all we needed. The staff were great and even recommended an excellent restaurant for what turned out to be a spectacular meal. The location is good, just a short walk form the station with no shortage of restaurants. Or have a drink in the lobby bar which looks out over the Omonichi channel. There is no restaurant on-site but breakfast was no issue as there is a great little bakery in the shopping strip just up the road for pastries and an excellent espresso shop just a few doors up. Overall a great experience, I would definitely stay again.

The view from the room was sooo good! The location was really nice, there's a great walk way along the river, and you're basically right on it. The staff were super super nice! The room was so comfortable and well designed - for example the sink was in the room, which made it feel bigger. I liked having a standing shower (not shower over bath) for a change (you should note that you do need to step up into the bathroom still though (I think from memory) for those with accessibility requirements). The whole place was pretty trendy for such a good price. It's a really short walk to get to the indoor market and also the bottom of the ropeway. Very convenient.

The fridge was pretty small (very thin, like a mail box) - it was a cool design otherwise, but not very practical. Could store maybe 3 bottles of normal water bottles? I really wish this place came with parking - I parked in a Sakura parking lot across the street and ended up paying something like 3400 yen! (arriving at around 4pm and leaving around 12/1pm). There was a bit of noise that you could hear through the walls, but it wasn't too much.

Great location right on the seafront, with a view of the sea from my room. About 5 minutes on foot from the station, and just a minute away from Onomichi’s main covered shopping street. Hotel staff were all very friendly and happy to talk about this unique and lovely town. Tasty free coffee in the lobby. Great views from the roof.

Nothing really. The compact room size is fairly standard for Japan, and perfectly fine for a few nights with a small suitcase (which I slid under the sink btw). There was no bathtub, but on the other hand the shower felt spacious and very clean.

Very convenient location, less than ten minute walk from Onomichi train station, and right by the harbour with plenty of good food nearby. It is a small room, but perfect for a short stay before starting the Shimanami Kaido. We arranged to have our luggage transferred through the hotel staff, they were very helpful (note that if you are transferring luggage to Imabari Station, collection time is between 6pm and 8pm only). Onomichi is a lovely small seaside city, we wish we'd stayed longer.

We were unable to leave our luggage with the hotel prior to the 3pm check-in (no staff available). If you arrive early, you can leave your luggage in a coin-locker near the train station.

The staff were excellent - accommodating, friendly and helpful. In spite of the language barrier (as we did not speak much Japanese) they did everything they could to help us organise baggage transfer to our next location by the shimanami transfer service and sorted it all out for us! Location was good approx a 5-7min walk from the train station and ferry departure port for Mukaishima. Hotel overlooking the harbour/sea which provided a lovely place for an evening stroll. Rooms were small but serviceable and good enough for us as we only had two large backpacks (anyone else with cabin sized luggages may have struggled as may not have had enough space to open suitcases in the room). Toiletries and towels were provided, free hot tea and coffee was available downstairs. Room was clean and a good temperature (10-20deg outdoors) without needing airconditioning or the heater in the room

The only slight complaint would have been the size of the room but it wasn’t an issue for us.

Really liked the beautiful view from our room and the delivery of new toiletries and amenities when we chose not to have our room cleaned up on certain days. Good location near the station, shopping arcade, and various restaurants. It was chilly on the nights we returned to the hotel and enjoyed the hot tea and chocolate we could have for free at the lobby before going up to our room.

A heads-up that the space was really limited and we had one medium-sized suitcase and one large suitcase with us. When we opened them on the floor (one in the corner next to the table and the other basically beside the sink), they kind of took up all the space in front of the bed hahahaa

The town of Onomichi's intimate feel extends to this hotel, with thoughtful amenities like the cool crisp water dispenser. The room was small but with a good layout so I was able to manage all that I needed. The river view is nice and if I didn't have plans I could stare out and watch the boats and ferries. Basics were achieved: Shower pressure was great! WiFi was good.

If I recall, the electricity completely turns off when you leave the room so you can't leave the A/C on or let your devices charge. There were gaps when staff disappeared and I had to wait a while (Their phone number to call them did not work). The front desk / front door is not 24 hours.

The staff upon check-in was really friendly and spoke decent English. The room was very clean and well equipped. There was extremely nice terrace on the roof, perfect spot for chilling after a long day of travel and activities. Coffee set is available on ground floor as well as bar with local beer and other beverages is available when staff is in. The local beer is mediocre at best, but that is not on the hotel.

In Japan people dislike drawers and hangers, especially in bathrooms with showers. This hotel would also benefit from having more of them.

urashima INN - GANGI is a lovely hotel in the gorgeous town of Onomichi. I stayed at the hotel in order to rent a bike and cycle the Shimanami Kaido. It is ideally based for the town which is 5 minute or so walk away for the ferries to Mukaishima Island and for the bike rental vendors too. The room sizes are a little small and probably a bit of a tight squeeze for two people but, as I was staying on my own it was more than adequate for me. The staff were also very helpful and welcoming. I will certainly return again next year.
