The beds were super comfy. There was amazing high quality juice, coffee and tea in the room. The onsen was amazing and so nice to be able to walk to it in the clothes they provide in your room.

Unfortunately when we went in early April only one restaurant in town was open. The front desk had an amazing list of places with a map to help, but their English was very limited and they didn’t understand when I said all of them were closed for some reason. The lack of restaurants is something people should know when traveling to Onomichi during cherry blossom season. The town was essentially shut down during the week and yubune does not have a restaurant attached. SOIL across the street had one open but only open to guests on Wednesdays.

Lovely and clean, good sized rooms, beautiful onsen, great location

We were hot and wanted to use the air conditioning but we were told it was not possible so I was uncomfortable trying to sleep. The staff had to unlock the window with a key which is weird. I made sure to ask in advance if the hotel could ship our bags same day to Matsuyama. They said yes but then when it came time to ship the bags they said it wouldn’t arrive until the next morning and they did not apologise for the wrong information and I had to request that they help me find a way to get it there same day (which they eventually did but they certainly didn’t offer in the first place. It was also almost double the cost)

Well located in Setonda Port, being very close to the waterside and shops. Very clean, simple and well laid out rooms with excellent futons that were very comfortable and a recessed foot well under the coffee table for us Westerners who can't fold our legs! Free (non-alcoholic) minibar content was a welcome point of difference over other 'hotels'.

No meals were available on site so our breakfast had to be a burger around the corner! The lack of view from our room was not explicitly stated, though the pictures show a sliding window cover - which couldn't be opened. On our arrival (hot and sticky from a day's riding), we were told to leave our bikes locked in the car park. but the next day a different Receptionist said our bikes could be stored in our room...

Yubune is in a modern building that is architecturally sympathetic to the traditional building style. It is modern and clean. The room was spotless, well designed and comfortable. The shower was good. There's a large room where you can cook and eat. Drop coffee and tea was provided in the room and soft drinks in the fridge were complimentary.

There was no breakfast offer although a hotel a minute walk away has a cafe that opened at 7:30 am.

Beautiful and comfortable room, the hotel has a beautiful minimal design inside. The staff is extremely kind and helpful for anything. Beds are very comfortable and the shower is amazing. I won’t add any picture as the ones on booking are 100% accurate. No need to book the breakfast, there is a grocery about 1km from the hotel where u can get what you need for the next morning, while be mindful cafes in town opens around 10-11AM. The hotel is in a great location, in the heart of the village, few steps from the seaside. It’s also great location for cycling partially the Shimanami Kaido, there is a tourist info center close by where u can also book your bike in advance. The village is charming and sleeping at yubune gives you the opportunity to experience the slow life on the island. Many tiny hidden bars with karaoke where you can have fun with locals.

There are no dark blinds in the room, if you are not used to natural morning light, you may wake up really early.

Possibly the best hotel we've ever stayed at, in any country. The beautiful mix of traditional Japanese building and setting with modern facilities was perfect. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, our room was stunning, beds (futons) were beyond comfortable and the complementary mini-bar and bath houses were the icing on the cake. It's closer to staying in a spa retreat than a hotel. It was slightly over our budget but we had limited options while riding the Shiminami Kaido, however, we are so glad we spent the extra money and stayed here. Thank you, yubune, for an absolutely wonderful experience.

Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer than one night!

We did the bicycle tour and because we were unsure if we can make it in time in one day, we looked for a comfortable stay in the middle. This Hotel looked excellent for it. I must say the rooms were wonderful and the location too. Everything was excellent.

The Hotel is quite expensive and there we would expect a breakfast option. The Hotel staff had difficulties with english and could not really explain where to get breakfast. But other than that, the hotel is wonderful!

Wonderful, quaint location for stopping off during the Shimanami Kaido. We also lovely being able to use the onsen after our cycle - the perfect end to the day. Our room was lovely and spacious, plus we appreciated the lovely lemon beers! Also the beds were lovely and comfy. Great to also be able to use the luggage forwarding service from Yubune.

Yubune is in a fantastic location, right near the waterfront, and close to great cafes. It was the perfect stop for us overnight whilst rising the Shimanami Kaido. Beautiful building, lovely modern Japanese decor, large room that stored our three bikes easily. Hotel staff were lovely and helpful, and the breakfast included at a local restaurant was excellent quality! would definitely stay here again, and next time try the onsen.

The extra futon bed was a little thin and uncomfortable, but after a full day riding in the heat, my son slept well anyway! It was also his first futon experience, so was just not used to it.

Location, Design, shower and very comfortable beds. Front desk staff super helpful and friendly.

Window screen in Japanese style was gorgeous but not effective at blocking out any light - but not an issue if you have an eye mask. Hotel design is lovely but walls are thin - earplugs are needed!
