The hostel is just a 10 minutes walk from a main subway line stop in Nagoya, making it easy to travel into the city centre or to the outskirts to switch to the Linimo line. (Relevant for Ghibli Park travellers). I chose this location due to the proximity to Ghibli Park and it made it very easy to arrive there for my early entry - there are also convenience stores right next to the station for an easy breakfast or snack. The hostel itself was clean, quite cosy and had a nice, large living room. The staff are happy for you to leave luggage at their desk (50 yen fee per bag) which is useful for day-trips to the city. It is also located in a quiet, relaxing neighbourhood. I had a positive experience and I'm really grateful that this hostel exists and was at a decent price.

The pillow is quite small and not the most comfortable. The service desk hours are also limited exclusively to check-in and check-out, meaning there are only 6 hours per day when the service desk is open and staff is accessible (08:00 - 10:00 for checkout, and 18:00 - 22:00 for checkin, unless any late requests are made). This was not a problem for me, but this could be an issue if you wish to make an early start and want to leave your bag - you'd have to do so the night before - or if you have an afternoon train/flight and wouldn't be able to pick up your bag prior to 18:00.

The hostel and facilities are excellent. The rooms are spacious with good bathroom and shower facilities. There are additional showers available via the common area. The common area was very large and had a full kitchen. There was also a TV and shelves with books/magazines. Each dorm bed had a light and an outlet. That was handy. The location is in a quiet neighbourhood and is about a 15 minutes walk from Issha station.

We had some difficulty with communicating with the staff. Our flight did not get into Nagoya until 9:30 PM and we arrived outside the check-in time. Check-in was 6pm-10pm and we sent messages around 6p. I did not receive a response until just before 10p, so there was some confusion over whether we would be able to access the hostel. When we arrived, instructions had been provided on where the rooms were and which beds were ours. There was nothing about bath towels. If towels were available, information about renting and where to find them was missing. If you are arriving late, make sure to contact the staff as soon as possible. We understand this confusion was also due to the lateness of our arrival and we should have contacted the staff earlier.

Even though it's not in the city, I booked it because it's a midway point to the ghibli park so not to have to wake up too early to get there.

From the station there is a hill incline, so be mindful of that. You can store luggage but you won't be able to get it back between the hours of 10am-6pm because the front desk is closed.

Love the concept that it’s run and managed by students from the learning house. The building is actually a hostel but they allocated 1 floor for short term rental. Rental fee helps to reduce living costs for students. Spacious room (4 of us in a room meant for 6) with attached bath and toilet (separated). Big kitchen / common area in case you wish to break away from your group.

Quite a distance from Nagoya central. Traffic is very heavy getting into town. Lack of restaurants within walking distance. Limited utensils in kitchen.

Staff was wonderful, it’s a nice property and the beds felt clean. Instructions were very clear(at check in) and the shared space was big enough to be comfortable to lounge

The emails were in japanese, but that was an easy fix and probably an unfair expectation in my part. However the late check in(6pm) is tough, especially since there’s no one there at all if you’re early so you’re stuck outside. Still had a nice stay though

Tatami room was a good size for a party of 4 but there was an “emergency exit” light which was on during the night so the room was greenish 😓. The common kitchen was good except for the mini oven which was dirty. Enough fridge space to store food. Overall we liked the place.

Tidy and efficient, excellent value for money, good location for going to Ghibli Park (but get advance tickets!)

Dorms can be noisy, put on and take off your own sheets, no meaningful security - relies on this being Japan, a bit out of the way, didn't see any staff

Accomodation is driven by friendly young people, and the facility is operating as a hostel. The room was big enough for five people.An excellent price - value ratio.

The futons were a bit unconfortable for travellers from overseas, the emergency light is too bright in the dark. The facility is located in residential area, approximatelly 1 km from the subway station.

the beds were comfortable, great living area. bathrooms being right next to the room with more than one shower and toilet was amazing. laundry was great and cheap! perfect for Backpackers or any travellers with not many clothes. the staff was very friendly and I’ll be for sure stopping by again on my way back to Tokyo :)

Had to walk 15 mins from subway on a rainy night with luggage for checkin. But it was nice walk when the weather was nice.
