Beautiful hotel on Lake Biwa. Our room was absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of the lake. The rooms are huge which was great after staying in hotel tiny rooms for 2 weeks! Beds and pillows were very comfortable! Lovely pool area although they close the pool for an hour at lunch time which was annoying! Free shuttle bus to the station. We had dinner at Mogura which is an amazing restaurant near the station (a short walk or use the free shuttle bus) We only stayed 1 night. A relaxing way to finish our holiday

Closing the pool for an hour at lunch time. Restaurant prices were very expensive.

From the free shuttle from the train station to the last bow by the lobby concierge in front of the hotel, our stay at Biwako Hotel was beautiful, luxurious, and magical. Service is world class. The property is gorgeous. The location is outstanding. The food is excellent and memorable. The Biwako Hotel is apparently a popular location for wedding parties and is indeed as romantic as a hotel can get. There is a rooftop pool and observation deck where we watched the lighted fountain show (every evening at 7pm). Special mention to the gift shop staff who were especially helpful and friendly. We chose to splash out a bit on the room and got one of their 40² meter apartments with balcony. Wonderful, luxuriant, comfortable.

Cannot think of anything at all.

Absolutely satisfied with the hotel in terms of the location, the cleanliness, the comfort, the room view, the interior design, as well as their dinner and breakfast. Our rooms had a great view of Lake Biwa and we took a wonderful stroll along the lakeside in the morning. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. They had a wide variety of tasty food there while a number of other restaurants and cafes were within walking distance as well.

The price was slightly on the high side but the whole experience was still worth the price.

Beautiful hotel, location on the lake and the view from our room was wonderful, they have even positioned the beds so that your feet face the water. Very comfy, warm and clean. Shower was amazing. Parking was easy under the hotel and they kindly paid for it. I had my first onsen experience there, lovely. Restaurants are lovely. The staff were exceptional. Breakfast buffet was great but would have liked some fish.

Our italian meal in the dining room, there was no actual pasta dishes and we were disappointed.

Location is great. Easy to get to / from Otsu station via complimentary Hotel bus. Local metro line also very close for sightseeing. Lots of breakfast options both English and Japanese. Club Lounge offered excellent drink selection and food. Staff were nice and friendly. Room views of Lake Biwa were amazing day and night.

Was a shame the pool closed at 5pm each day. Would have loved an evening swim.

The room was beautiful with a view right on the water. The breakfast was a typical buffet, but managed well, and the food was good. The staff was attentive to our needs.

The restaurants on site we’re not particularly good. They were overpriced and fussy. I would recommend that you go outside the hotel for meals in the evening. The onsen was very nice and I was impressed with the security they provided on the women’s side. However, the water was not hot enough on either day.

The location is good, next to the lake. We drove there and the parking was spacious. The public bath area was good and very clean, but there were many people after dinner. The hotel provides shuttle bus to the train station, although we didn't use it. There was a mistake during the parking that even though the ticket was scanned at the front desk, the machine charged us for the parking. The reception was really helpful and reimburse the expense by cash right away. Thank you very much.

The breakfast area is a bit crowded. I would recommend to go before 8.30 am. We stayed for 2 nights. The first morning the beef stew ran out and they didn't refill it. Luckily we had it on the 2nd morning. It was wonderful.

Biggest room I've ever stayed in Japan! Bright and cheerful with a nice balcony that overlooks the lake. There were 3 of us in one room but there was still plenty of space. The good quality coffee and tea provided in the room are great touches. Love the breakfast too - there's plenty of choices and they all taste good. Would love to stay there again.

We were there on a weekend of the summer holidays, so it was quite full. Had to wait for 15 mins to get a table at breakfast. The public bath was quite packed too. So best to avoid peak periods. Other than that, the hotel was perfect!

Amazing, so amazing! The hotel looks like a 5* hotel, and feels like one. The interior is so fancy, I should have booked it for longer duration, considering how easy it is to reach Kyoto from here. It is double the price of a hotel from Kyoto, but the facilities make up for it. I had the Superior Twin Room - Non-Smoking and the view was amazing and I was lucky enough to catch the fountain show at the docks, which can be viewed clearly from the balcony.

Excellent view over the lake. You get access to their own "onsen", just make sure you read up on the rules so you don't mess things up and offend the local population. For instance, you are expected to be naked.

The staff was barely proficient in English. They were all super friendly and well-intentioned but it did make for some situations where it was hard to get our point across when asking for help.
