The property is in the historic centre and a short walk to many restaurants and tourist sights. It’s also very close to various bus and train lines. It has its own restaurant where we ate one night. Breakfast starts quite late (8:30am) but the staff where kind enough to provide us with some at 8am as we had to leave early. The staff were also kind enough to tell us where we could buy tours to Teotihuacán in Zócalo Square as the hostel does not run tours on their own. We were allowed to leave our storage for no extra charge.

Not a great location if you want quiet! It was very loud so do bring your ear plugs! Also, it could do with some cleaning.. and a bit more lighting in the rooms. We had a cockroach dying on our shower floor. 😅

Great location near the Zocalo and several metro and bus stops. The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor was fun and open layout was cool. The free pizza nights were a hit and encouraged guest interactions. There were private bathrooms available. Some of the showers had better water pressure than others.

FYI, there are a lot of stairs. May be an issue, especially for those who have a lot of luggage or mobility issues. There were a lot of leaks (rainy season), including on the toilets. Sometimes, the info wasn't given clearly at check-in, like how often you can change towels or that they offer laundry service. I suggest they add a FAQs section to the checkin document and go over it with guests at check in.

Location was in Centro Mexico City, very convenient to subway, shops, restaurants, public transport. Room was very spacious with two double beds. Can get a bit noisy at night Friday's and Saturday's because nearby clubs, restaurants, night venues play loud music till early in the morning, but did not bother me, had ear plugs. Breakfast was OK, a bit of fruit, yoghurt with cereal and a few pancakes or a sandwich, and coffee or tea.

One of the staff members was a little inflexible when I explained, prior to ordering, that I could not eat any meat in a sandwich which was part of the breakfast. When I received a cheese and ham sandwich I explained again and he said he could do nothing about it. I asked for another sandwich without the ham and just the cheese and he said that was not possible.

The hostel’s location was great, and the place itself was beautiful, with a strong cultural theme inspired by the Day of the Dead. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially Abigail. I really liked that the hostel organized free group meals, it created a warm and social atmosphere.

Although everything was generally great, there were a couple of things I didn’t like. At night, there was a bird inside the air duct whose singing made it difficult for me to sleep, and I noticed the hostel didn’t take any steps to resolve this. Also, in my room, several bugs were coming out of the cabinet under the sink. While I understand that these things can happen, I believe the hostel should do everything possible to prevent them, as it’s a matter of hygiene.

The Staff were amazing. They have great recommendations and are super helpful. The location is perfect. It can be loud during the day and then gets quiet at night. Great torterías around the area and even across the street

The wifi was not good, which will be a challenge if you plan to work from here. Breakfast was not the best. Can be difficult to get a taxi anywhere in the center, including to the hostel sometimes

Breakfast was so nice, a very pleasant surprise. Simple but so tasty and I was often looking forward to getting my breakfast in the mornings. The location is perfect in terms of proximity to things to see and do. It was so clean and the staff were so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. I thought I'd be too old for hostels in my 30's but there was a lovely mix of all ages from young people up to people I'd say in their 50's!

It is a tad noisy, especially on weekend nights but honestly it didn't overly affect our sleep even though we were in bed most nights before 12.

They had a small but lovely breakfast. The staff was really amazing and open. I liked the location it was perfect to walk to almost anything. The set up of the hostel was really nice, I was surprised by the art. We also enjoyed a free dinner from the hostel where I got to meet other travelers and connected with them.

I had a room where there was an open second floor above. You can hear every single step and people talking very clear. On the weekend the music from the rooftop was quite loud and I could only sleep after 1 am when the rooftop was closed. The kitchen wasn't that well equipped, maybe only important for people like me who also cook when traveling.

My partner and I had an excellent time staying at Hostal Regina. We stayed in a private room with one full and one twin bed and access to shared bathrooms. The room was clean and spacious with a small balcony overlooking the street which we both absolutely loved. Towels were provided, but guests should bring or purchase their own body wash/shampoo/conditioner. The shared bathrooms were extremely clean at all times and had great hot water access. Breakfast was available every morning until 10am and included cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea, and one rotating main dish (e.g. chilaquiles, crepes, pancakes, or eggs +/- ham). Staff were available at the front desk 24/7 and were extremely helpful and friendly. (We really appreciated all the help we received from Luis!) It can be a little bit loud at night until ~1-2am given the location, so just be aware of this if you are someone who prefers peace and quiet. The hostel is located in a lively part of Centro Historico and is walking distance from countless shops and restaurants. We loved our stay and will definitely come back to Hostal Regina if we are ever again in CDMX. Excellent experience!

Really not much to say here. I suppose it could have been a little bit quieter at night, but we knew what we were signing up for and really had no issues with this -- that's the price you pay for a good location!

If when you travel a good shower becomes the most important thing, this is the place for you. The showers were pressure washers, at full blast they actually hurt a bit. Never queued for the shower or toilet either! Great communication through booking.com before I arrived. A useful pdf shared on arrival. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Always someone on reception for arrivals/departure or to let you in late at night. Big lockers by each bed, light, shelf and plug socket. Breakfast was always coffee, watermelon, yogurt and cereal plus a hot offer which changed daily. The woman’s only dorm was spacious and didn’t have bunk beds. The only thing was it is a mezzanine level and there is a bed next to the edge, occasionally things fell and I had to wait for someone to be in downstairs to get them back. Also that meant I had to go downstairs and round to the bathroom/shower. No big deal but a bit uncomfortable in pjs. Curtains would be useful to keep the mosquitoes out - this was the only place in a Mexico (for 2months) I was continually bitten, with bug spray on. Disappointed they didn’t advertise/organise any events/walking tours as there is so much in the city!

Excellent location and extremely welcoming staff at reception. We arrived before the official check-in time and were not only allowed to leave our backpacks in the storage room, but also to change clothes and use the bathrooms - which was an incredibly thoughtful touch. Thank you! We loved the overall design and vibe, and really enjoyed our room with its high ceiling, plenty of natural light and air.

Unfortunately, there was no hot water in our room during our entire stay. Although we informed the lady at the reception about the issue, nothing was done to resolve it. We were advised to use the shared bathrooms, which was generally fine, except for the occasional wait in line and the fact how differently people understand the cleanliness and using the common areas (unfortunately, the common bathrooms were sometimes left very dirty). This lady at the reception did not come across as particularly friendly, especially in contrast to the two other receptionists we had the chance to meet earlier, who were both very helpful and supportive.
