The staff were amazing, I was greeted by Emmanuel at the door who escorted me to the front desk. A glass of champagne poured for me as I checked in. Staff explained the history and layout of the hotel while taking me to my room. I was greeted by name every morning while leaving the hotel to explore the town. The housekeeping staff were wonderful. With Zócalo steps away, you near by stores like Nike but also small vendors.
It could be a little loud during the day with so much vibrance happening in the proximity of the hotel. But it is was live music so it wasn’t an actual problem. Also you have to walk a short distance to the hotel because Zócalo was frequently closed to vehicular traffic, but was not a big deal.

We stayed 6 nights at Gran Hotel Ciudad de México with our daughter and absolutely loved everything. Our room overlooking the Zócalo was stunning—spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide and tasty selection. The hotel restaurant was also great, offering delicious food and a breathtaking view of the square. It’s also a lovely spot to enjoy a drink, especially at sunset. The staff was really great—friendly, helpful, and professional. The location felt very safe, with plenty of police presence around. Nothing negative to say—a perfect stay!

Our room was facing the plaza. We had a great view. Our room was wonderful great bed and a very nicely appointed bathroom with nice linens. The staff was amazing. Abraham, the door man was so nice. He gave us a great overview of the history of the hotel when we arrived and gave us a ride in the steel elevator. Everyone was right there if we needed anything. The glass ceiling was amazing. The breakfast buffet upstairs was amazing and always with great service. We a dinner there several times and were not disappointed.

This hotel is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Staff bend over backwards for guests, the property is spotless; the restaurant is wonderful for breakfast (one of the best I've been to) and very good for a dinner.
The hotel is in the center of town and we learned that citizens love to protest. So our Zocala-facing room got pretty much blasted by noise. Also, the water pressure in the sinks and shower are is terrific, the toilet, sadly, was way under-pressured and it led to lots of issues.

I loved the building. It was probably the most beautiful hotel I've stayed in. The architect is gorgeous. It truly feels like you've traveled back in time. Their restaurant has a great breakfast spread with an incredible view of El Zocalo.
There was a miscommunication when it came to picking up out clothes for laundry service, so half of it was not done. It was a mild inconvenience. Also, the location is beautiful but a huge pain in the butt to get in and out of if you plan to visit other areas of Mexico City. It was extremely noisy at night. Our room was right above a main street, so I suggest you avoid those rooms if possible. I probably wouldn't stay there again only because it's an extremely busy part of Mexico City. But I'm glad I had the experience.

This hotel is only about half a block to the zocalo. There’s tons of attractions, restaurants, and shopping within walking distance. The staff is all great and super friendly. There’s a room in the lobby open 24 hours with seating, snacks, and drinks. The rooms are very comfortable and come with lots of things you may have forgotten. The AC works great and there’s a button for blackout curtains if you need to sleep later. The bathroom is spacious and it has great water pressure. The maids are great too. The inside is beautiful and very clean. This is one of my favorite hotels!

The Gran Hotel Ciudad is a stunning building, perfectly located on the main square. We were upgraded to a very spacious room that looked straight on to the square and was incredibly comfortable, with a lovely bathroom. It was incredibly quiet at night. Every member of staff was friendly, polite and helpful. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as we had very early starts but made use of the guest lounge that was open 24 hours a day where you could make a cup of coffee, have a snack and fill up water bottles. We had a drink on the roof terrace looking over the square.
Despite being an historic building, the space feels slightly lacking in atmosphere.

The bell hop Arturo/Armando (not sure of his name) was so friendly and made us feel very comfortable. He showed us his magic tricks! He was a great guy!!!
We reserved two rooms. Both rooms were master suites with “Zocalo view”. One of the rooms faced the corner and was not accurately a room with “Zocalo view”. Before our arrival, I contacted the hotel and asked if either room had a compromised view. I was assured that both rooms did not have a compromised view, when in fact, one did. Although I did not say anything to the front desk, I felt that I should have received a partial refund for that room.

GORGEOUS! A must see, even if you don’t stay here. The Tiffany ceiling is a masterpiece. The Terraza restaurant really does offer spectacular views of the Zocolo, especially at night. The entire staff from the Doormen, to the waitstaff, to housekeeping are 5 stars! They greeted us with champagne flutes. There was a plate of sweets welcoming me to the hotel in the room. The maids serviced the room each day. The restaurant reserves space for their guests so you can walk in without a reservation. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. It truly is grand!
Every time the AC comes on and off, it makes a clanging sound like someone dropped a weight.

As soon as you arrive to the hotel you are greeted by the bellman, who are dressed in an antique uniform. Wonderfull staff, accurate information with our rooms and reservations. They inmediately invite you to the lounge that has an Amazing view of the Zocalo. The main focus is the architecture of the hotel, that beautiful vitral is the main character of the space. Loved it all!!!!
The streets to get there have a lot of traffic, but honestly it was not a problem with this central location and how beautiful the space was. As soon as you arrive to the hotel makes you forget it.
