It is ON the beach, close to local bars and shops! The little bit more expensive accommodation is private and you can watch the sunrise from your bed. You have a small bench where you can enjoy coffee or a nice beer in the afternoon.

Don’t think it is that I didn’t like it about the property - but on Booking.com the description and photos don’t 100% match the vibe. The cheaper accommodation is almost like backpacker vibes with share kitchen and bathroom facilities with not much privacy. The rooms are small and when you exit it is almost in the communal area where everyone chills during the day or having a braai.

I loved my time at Underwater Explorer! Both my stay and the diving were absolutely wonderful. The accommodation is simple and sufficient - perfect for a solo-traveler on a budget. I especially loved the laid-back and homey atmosphere, and I was very thankful for the good mosquito net and a strong fan in my room. The small pool is perfect for cooling off and lounging by the bar, plus it has an epic ocean view. And for an outdoor kitchen, the place is well-kept thanks to the hardworking housekeeping team, and well-stocked with cooking utensils, free coffee/tea, and plenty of refrigerators! The dive operation is well-organized, fun, and safe. My gear was well cared for, and the rental gear was in great condition. Shout out to the friendliest team of instructors and DMTs (Anísio + Liam, & Dirk, Laura, + Brandon), captain Tito, and all the guys working on the boats who made sure I had an amazing time. Everyone was very helpful from pre-trip planning to arrival (thank you for answering all of my questions, Martin!!!), and throughout my stay. I felt welcomed immediately and wish I had stayed more than 1 week! I’m so happy I chose to dive and stay at Underwater Explorer and am looking forward to my next trip. 10/10 would recommend.

There's nothing I can think of that I didn't like. Although simple, everything met my needs!

This is the place to explore Ponta, the beach and its surrounds. It is well located on the beach between three beach bars, a number of restaurants and close to shop and bottle store and the market. It is a tented camp and Dive Centre with two well equipped shared kitchens ,dining and lounge area, braai area and a festive bar which made it interactive. Martin who booked us in was awesome........so fun loving, friendly and accommodating, as were Herb and Elaine the owners and their dogs. Our tent had an en suite and comfortable bed and we survived the heavy downpour! Even as seasoned adventurers this is the place to be!

There was a good kitchen, with all necessary cooking equipment. Very close to the beach (5 seconds walk). Rooms where basic but fine beds. Shared bathroom was clean.

Room did not have a fan, therefor it was quite hot.

The staff is very friendly. Helpful. Its on the beach. Beautiful beach. Rooms is comfortable. It's not the place for people that expect a five star hotel, but that is exactly the point. You go to explore dive. Dive with dolphins. There is deep sea fishing and just relaxing on the beach. There is lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance on the beach.This is as close to Nature as you can get.

Everything!!!!! You have to go there! The owners are amazing! So welcoming and helpful. The staff is great and the atmosphere all of them make is inimitable - after 30mins you feel lake at home. If you look for a place where you are the part of the family and like to sleep with a sound of the ocean, you should definitelly go there. Thank you so much for everything :)

Location was absolutely insane, could walk right off the porch onto the beach and in the centre of Ponta d'Ouro, everything was within walking distance which was lovely. The venue was also lovely and staff were helpful and happy to give advice.

If you want to go for a relaxed holiday I would suggest going in November as bear the end of November and in December it can get quite rowdy and loud. However, the music goes off at 10 strictly. Water was intermittent.

My brother and I visited Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique at the end of November 2023, and we stayed at Under Water Explorer. The best place to stay for a beach vacation. Clean, safe and affordable. Great location, right at the beach, and close to all that you'll need for your vacation. If you feel like chilling at the property, it has a pool, a bar, a braai area a kitchen, pots and dishes are provided.  The staff members were all so welcoming and helpful. A special thank you to Martin, who assisted us so well, throughout from booking, until our last day in Mozambique. He does his job with a smile and ensures that all guests are comfortable.  Will definitely be staying there for my future visits to Ponta do Ouro. PS: the beds exceeded my expectation, they were so comfortable :)
