This hotel is a gem. Located in the most beautiful town of the Kathmandu Valley, a few steps from the most beautiful square in the area, and away from the traffic and noise of the busiest streets, it is the ultimate choice for a stay in Nepal. The rooms are clean and spacious, our apartment was provided with a fully equipped kitchen. The staff members are extremely friendly yet very professional. Very good breakfast, it is also possible to have a quick lunch in the hotel restaurant. This was my second time in Timila Hotel and, should I be back in Nepal, it will be my place again.

Nothing, really.

The hotel is centrally located for all main tourist sites and is less than five minutes walk to Durbar Square. We were allocated an upgraded apartment room. This was exceptionally well equipped but although this was also very spacious, it had a modern design with less character than the standard rooms we had booked. Breakfast is a menu choice. The non-vegetarian selection consisted of fruit or juice, choice of hot egg dish, bacon, sausage, toast and tea/coffee. This was perfectly satisfactory.

Some areas of the apartment and the bathroom were ready for redecorating.

Breakfasts were good, nice choice. My favourite was double pancakes with fruit and watermelon juice. Nice cappuccinos, proper coffee maker so could get 1 or 2 shot drinks. Nice masala omelettes too. Lovely courtyard for breakfast with heater and blankets. Very friendly and helpful staff, including when we came in late. Hotel is characterful but also well appointed for the rates. Plenty of hot water for showers and lovely clean sheets. Loved the bamboo suite, great bathroom and terrace and very spacious, the hotel pictures don't do it justice. Stayed twice and friend stayed too so saw 3 rooms. Hotel helpfully kept some luggage safe for us for a few days when we went on a short trip elsewhere. We worried it might be inaccessible for cars, and the road it is on is not very passable, but it is about a 1 minute walk down one straight road to an easy pickup point, so no worries about getting lost. Basically on the corner of Durbar Square in Patan, so in the heart of an incredibly beautiful and historic location. Lots of places to eat and drink, temples and old palace all about 5 minutes walk away, plus taxi rank and pond. Great spot to explore Kathmandu, much nicer and safer feeling than Thamel, foreign tourists get far less hassle around here. Nice hotel shop and reception area. Loved the koi carp in the courtyard pond.

Bedrooms not wheelchair accessible and you can be 4 flights up so be prepared to walk, not an issue for us but might be for some. Beware of the hotel cat, it's not that friendly, staff will take it away if it causes you hassle.

Second time of staying at Timila. Cannot praise the accommodation enough. Big, clean with an efficient AC system in the bedroom. Breakfast we'll cooked. Reception staff wonderful. Remembered me from last year too & were always so so helpful. Need accommodation in Kathmandu? - stay here as better than the others. Great location spot too!!

Never stayed long enough before leaving for home🤣

The hotel exceeded our expectations! The room was spacious, modern, comfortable and really, really clean. The hotel stuff was exeptional - super friendly and helpful. The hotel's restaurant serves great coffee and delicious meals. Also, the location is incredible, only 5 minutes to the Durbar Square and there are little monuments to see pretty much everywhere around it.

Having a kitchen in the studio was a big plus. I LOVE the breakfast pancakes. Ordering food on room service, laundry service and daily cleaning all works 100%, top notch service. Staff is highly professional and were able to accommodate us even when there were some issues in one of the rooms - first they tried to solve the issues asap and when it wasn’t possible, they provided us with another room that was absolutely perfect. We stayed multiple times and tried 4 rooms in this hotel - studio 1 and 2, apartment 1 and 4. All rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. The roof top terrace is amazing. Whatever we needed or wished for was provided. And I mean seriously - the PANCAKES 🧡 best I’ve ever had.

The rooftop apartment A4 was too hot and noisy for us - I am sensitive to both. After we had that experience, they moved us to another room that was much cooler and more quiet. For me personally, the location in Patan is quiet enough for staying in but too noisy and polluted for walking around. That is the only disadvantage that I can think off, plus unfortunately the price is a bit higher than I can afford for more than a couple of days. But the service is worth it, I felt incredibly comfortable, safe and taken care of.

The location near the Patan's Durbar Square. The size of the bamboo suite with all its amenities. The kindness and attention of the servers at the restaurant. The quantity of birds chirping in the trees behind the hotel.

Some noise coming from an interior patio / small tables and chairs used as an eatery or cafe. The mess at the check in. The front desk wasn't cooperative to get a taxi Uber style when checking out.

The shower was great, the room was always clean. The breakfast was very good and the staff were eager to please. The cook even made me a white egg omelette!

The only downside was that the room faced the front of the building so it was noisy early morning and early evening. Otbheerwise I would have given the hotel a 10! To solve this the staff need to state do you want a room facing the courtyard (quieter) or street. But the staff in particular Aasha were very helpful and friendly!

The breakfasts were delicious and nicely served. The breakfast location in the courtyard was amazing. The location was wonderful as we could easily enjoy the heart of Patan and the Durbar square area. The front desk staff were really helpful, especially arranging taxis and a ride to the airport when we left.

Can't really think of anything that could be better. It exceeded our expectations completely.

Don't know if it's the fact that NEPALESE people are very welcoming, friendly, and have a great nature - or if it was the amazing service and prompt responses of hotel Tamila that's making me give 5 star here; but one thing is for you: YOU ARE GONNA FEEL LIKE HOME HERE!
