Loved this hotel, location excellent, room comfortable, very good modern bathroom with excellent walk-in shower. No restaurant but plenty nearby. Breakfast was the best of all the hotels we stayed in this trip.....and there were 10 of them. Served by charming friendly lady. Would stay again. Loved Shagen

Only downside was concern about entry as there is no reception. Difficulty picking up internet on foreign mobile but was talked through entry procedures.....which worked.

Love the location and staffing always friendly.

My room was way smaller than usual. I expected a standard twin room and instead had a room half the size. When I called to ask to change to standard full size room they were fully booked. They should not charge the same amount for a room half the size of the other standard rooms.

fantastic location, very comfy stay, friendly staff, they also made sure that our bikes were secured overnight as we did a bike packing trip. they allowed secure parking for our bikes in the hotel which i was really happy about.

Quirky building and check-in was unusual which initially made me nervous, but it couldn't have been slicker - much slicker than checking in via a receptionist. Breakfast was nice and enough to start the day. Ambience in dining hall was amazing. Presentation skills for the breakfast were great. Hostess was very pleasant and helpful. The only reason I didn't give full marks for staff and facilities was because we only had that 1 contact with staff which was faultless and there are no facilities (i.e. gym, pool bar, social area) - however you are so close to the town that the selection of bars and restaurants within 3 mins walk is more than enough to satisfy anyone. Thoroughly recommend as a base for a vacation as well as work.

The location was very central and close by shops and amenities. The breakfast was fresh, warm bread and croissants along with fresh fruit coffee tea and juice.

The check out time compared to other hotels we have stayed in was very early. Normally its around 11:00 in other hotels so we found that 10:00 was a bit too early.

Beautiful spot in a lovely town. Not so much an 'old castle' as a new, clean and modern take on and addition to a historic site. There was no staff present that we encountered: the digital key to open the doors was sent through email. Everything worked splendidly, but it was a bit strange not to be welcomed at all. This method is probably not for everyone, but a number was provided in case human interaction was required or requested.

We had booked a dinner in the Schagen city center and needed somewhere to stay. With a simple but nicely decorated room, enjoyable breakfast and only 5 minute walk to our dinner destination it was perfect. In the morning they were a bit busy getting ready for a wedding but the staff still took care to serve us the breakfast while busy. The building also has nice character.

It was a really nice place. I love the interior. And the staff was super friendly. Very comfortable. In the middle of the centre of Schagen.
