The room was absolutely stunning with a view on the Alta river. The spa was great. We did the dogsledding activity and had a blast. There's also some nice hikes around the hotel! Finally, the breakfast was amazing and both restaurants are delicious. This is the ideal place to go to spend a bit of time with your spouse and reconnect.

The only downside I'd mention is that everything comes at an extra charge, even if you're staying in a room. Booking sauna/jacuzzi, the shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and even a visit of the ice hotel. The fees are reasonable (e.g. 300-350 NOK per person for transportation). It might just be a cultural difference. I noticed that booking a Sauna in hotels I was staying at often cost a nominal fee in Norway.

We had the privilege of spending a night at Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge, and it was truly an enjoyable experience. Nestled along the banks of a serene river, the lodge offers a perfect blend of luxury and untouched wilderness. The architecture and interior design are stunning, with large panoramic windows that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, where you might even spot a fox or two, if you stay up late like me. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, the kind of place where you instantly feel at peace. Dinner at Maku Restaurant was an absolute highlight. We were looked after by Lotta, who guided us through the entire meal with warmth and exceptional attention to detail. In fact, the staff throughout the lodge were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Although the stay was short, it left a lasting impression. We wholeheartedly recommend Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge to anyone seeking a unique and serene Arctic getaway where refined comfort meets raw natural beauty.

Since we only stayed for a night, we couldn't enjoy the full experience, but I'm sure we'll soon find time to return.

Chose Sorrisniva for our first ever trip to Norway in Winter holiday. And It didn’t disappoint! The location is ideal, tucked away from the city life. Just nature around. A lot of activities to do and all tours are very well organized with good quality equipment and rentals. The staff is multinational and polite. Rooms are spacious and clean. Two restaurants, food is delicious! Enough around you to keep you busy… and appreciate nature and togetherness. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay ☺️ Thankyou for the incredible hospitality!

If you’re staying a couple of days at the same property, then lunches and dinners can get quite pricey at the lodge’s Maku and Lavvu restaurants. Don’t get me wrong, food is delicious in both restaurants. But just something to keep in mind so you can come prepared.

A simply wonderful stay here. Rooms are beautifully designed and luxurious. The hotel itself, stylish, classy and comfortable. Both restaurants are wonderful and offer simply outstanding food, with incredible local produce. The tours we undertook (dog sledding, reindeer/Sami experience) were great fun and so informative. Cannot recommend this hotel enough for those wanting a luxurious break in the stunning arctic countryside. And we saw the Northern Lights! Special mention to Petros on the front desk who was as welcoming, helpful and informative as any front of house person I have ever encountered - even coming to alert us about the N Lights! A wonderful ambassador for this outstanding resort hotel.

Nothing!

If your purpose to come here is to watch the Northern light, then this property is good. Just you should not count on the hotel staff to call you when the Northern Light is out. They said they will, but they dont really care for Northern Light. However, since it is very easy to go out for two doors which faces different directions, so if you install the Northern Light tracker App to tell you the % of chance in real time and you also pay attention for the weather forecast hourly, you should know when to go out of hotel door and just standing outside to watch Northern Light. Note, the naked eyes will only see white color like cloud, you have to use the camera to like 10s slow exposure to see. The room is very clean/new/comfort. The restaurant food is good except the fine dining one. Dont go for the tasting menu. They are not that great. The other restaurant is much better. The breakfast is very good. Do join the Husky ride, it was so fun.

You do not want to waste your money to sign up for the Northern Light hunting. They are not good a all. You should be able to see it just in front of the hotel. Do go for tasting menu. Go to the other restaurant. The Staff is not too helpful or knowledge regarding the Northern Light. So you will need to do that yourself. The good part is cost nothing if you just go in/out hotel to wait for Northern Light. I follow the App and the weather forecast, the moment I went out of hotel door, I saw Northern Light. Dont expect you can see that in your room as 90% of time, Norhtern light shows up in North. The rooms are not facing the right direction.

Beautiful property in a remote part of Northern Norway. We hoped to see the Northern Lights and could not have happier to see them right outside the hotel. The staff was wonderful, they were looking out for the Lights and alerted guests so we could see them. The hotel was very comfortable, cozy and accommodating. There are lots of areas in the main lobby to read a book or just relax. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom delightfully large and well appointed. The hotel is situated in a valley on a lovely river surrounded by mountains. Note the onsite spa requires an hour notice to use the sauna and a day notice to get a massage as they don’t have full time staff (not a problem just good to know for planning purposes).

We would have enjoyed more dinner options. The restaurant was limited to 3, 5, or 8 course meals. While the experience was lovely, it isn’t the type of food you can eat every night and it is about 25 minutes to drive to town-where there are not good restaurant options. An a la carte dinner menu at the hotel restaurant would be ideal.

I really loved the tranquility of the place. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. They don't get many single travellers, but I needed some R&R and this place really delivered. Summer season is their low season, but it was quite nice to be away from crowds and I was very lucky with the weather. I would definitely want to come back with my partner in the summer or winter: which they seem to cater more towards. The ice hotel sounds cool to see and would love to see the norther lights, which they cleverly have installed a moon roof to do so in comfort.

If you wanted to use the hot tub or sauna, it would cost an additional 350NOK.

I wasnt kidding when I say I love everything about this hotel! The view is amazing, the hotel interior is beautiful, our room is so comfortable plus top notch service! They provided so many activities and we are glad to be able to book the ones we are keen because they even help plan our meal times so that we have ample rest to enjoy the activities and our meals. I especially love it when the staff see aurora activities and will come knocking on our doors or inform us if we are dining at the restaurants and everyone will gather together snapping pictures and all. It was really fun and super nice! The staff here is always smiley and helpful. We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and dinner menu is pretty much fixed except that you can choose 3,5 or 8 course meal. They will help switch whatever dish you had before so that you dont have to keep eating the same dish! How thoughtful is that?? We really appreciate it a lot and thanks to them, we got to try more dishes! I highly recommend this hotel to everyone I know and would love to come back and stay with them again!

That I didnt book more days with them! Everything else is just perfect!

Stunning location, very nice restaurant, beautiful interior design, helpful staff. Lot son activities to do around the hotel, fantastic views.

The sauna area was somewhat limited, with no direct connection to the river, so one can't dip into the river after the sauna. There were no oils in the sauna and there was a noisy fake fireplace. Overall it felt basic and wouldn't satisfy sauna connoisseurs. It was also frustrating that the hotel didn't have any facility to be able to dip into the river, no pontoon or even a small swimming area.

The Ice hotel is very unique. Beautiful ice and snow sculptures throughout as well as 5 uniquely designed rooms. We also stayed in the Artic Lodge in their "regular" rooms. The rooms were extremely comfortable with beautiful views of the Alta River and surrounding areas. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food was extraordinary as well at both Maku and Lavuu. The ice hotel room was obviously cold, but they supply sleeping bags that keep you warm and toasty. Bring a wool hat to sleep with so your head doesn't get cold.

The cost was pretty expensive, but most of our experience in Norway was expensive. I think that's just the way it is, so be prepared. Overall, it is a unique experience that is frankly worth the cost.
