This was the best hotel experience I had in Portugal. The hotel was easy to find, the staff was friendly and accommodating and everything worked very well. Wifi was excellent and I even had some heat (as the weather had turned chillier approaching winter). The hotel is located at the base of the "mountain" that Marvao - the medieval city and palace occupy and is only about 6 miles from the Spanish border. If I ever return to this area, I will definitely stay at the Sever Rio Hotel!

I had absolutely no problems with this property.

We've been to this hotel twice because of the international music festival in Marvão. Very pleasant hotel, very friendly staff, very clean. The rooms are very small but they have arranged the furniture in the best possible way. The breakfast is very good. The river beach is walking distance and fabulous.

I don't like the plastic mattress protection covers. They make me sweat.

The hotel is located at the foot of Marvão. The castle is beautifully illuminated at night, which you can see if you have a room with a view of the castle. There is an outdoor pool available for hotel guests and a natural pool made on the river, which is very close. Very thoughtful infrastructure. The hotel restaurant is fantastic!

Although I wanted to stay at the castle area for our second of two nights in Marvao this property is located a 15 euro down the mountain. However, the town and neighborhood is remarkabliy nice. A river runs though it and there are walking trails and an arched stone bridge there and several water control structures. The town has character.

Great location in the region, with access to main sights within 15/20 minutes drive, Spain including. Despite the central location to Portagem town, the street it is located in is a quiet one. The bedroom was cosy. Great balance for value/cost.

Some visual wear and tear, none enough to interfere with room functionality.

The room is very clean and the location is amazing. We normally stay here when visiting Marvao as it is good value for money. It’s not luxury and the fixture and fittings could be nicer but you get what you pay for. It’s comfortable and the staff is very friendly. We will come back in the future.

The breakfast option could be better.

Great location with view to marvao was terrific. Staff were very friendly & we felt comfortable. Parking right outside & breakfast was fine with cooked options as well as cold meats etc

Rooms are a bit small & needed some care eg side shelves etc could get a makeover. The restaurant wasn’t open which was disappointing as we know it’s great from previous visit in the area

Room needs redecoration from the dated 70's style. Balcony chairs and table were a disgrace. Restaurant wasn't as good as expected although the staff were excellent. Card machine refused every time to let me pay in euros, probably cost me an extra £20 during our stay.

Very good value for your money. Room was comfortable, no issues. Dinner in the restaurant below was also very good and not expensive.

Parking on street was fine, we had no issues, but might not be accessible for everyone, especially if you have a larger vehicle.

Good sized room, comfy beds, plenty of hot water. Our balcony overlooked the trees, river & castle beyond, & it was so pretty of an evening. The staff were friendly & extremely helpful. Excellent breakfast provided.
