Its location is great!

Unfortunately, there were bugs coming out from everywhere in the bed. I couldn't sleep until 4 a.m.

Couldn't be in a better location - it's less than 100m from the central train station, and on the main road of the town (it's also only a 10-minute walk to the beach, because Tanabe is a small town). The rooms are small, but clean, and for this price, it's a good value. The bar that the hotel is connected with is a very cool space to hang out in and have a drink or two (way nicer than anything else in town - a great vibe).

The checkout time is VERY late (4PM), and no one is in the hotel before it to receive a bag. I was able to leave the bag in an unattended area by communicating with the owner via email, and because this is Japan (!), that's something I was comfortable doing, but it was a bit strange, and I wouldn't do this in most countries. The hotel is attached to a bar, and the bar doesn't open until late afternoon, so when the bar's not open, the hotel isn't really, either. Also, I was there in winter, and the common areas (and bathrooms) are unheated, which made things pretty uncomfortable outside of my room.

Perfect location right next to the station and restaurant district, 7/11, 15 min walk to the beach. Very nice airy hostel with lots of space and cool roof terrace to hang out after dark. Downstairs is a classy bar that is not noisy if you want to sleep early. Super nice staff with good English. They offer well priced luggage storage if you walk the Kumano Kodo. Clean and comfortable beds. Great value overall.

It could include free towel, the mattress is covered in plastic, so it’s a bit squeaky.

My partner and I stayed at DJANGO the night before we began the Kumano Kodo hike. The location was PERFECT - right across from the train station so we didn't have to carry our luggage far at all. We were able to find food easily. (There was a place serving onigiri and soup at 5am across the street).The staff was very friendly. Accommodations clean (especially for a hostel!). I'm more of a "boutique luxury" kinda gal but this fit my needs and standards well. They also held our luggage for free while we hiked so that was a major bonus!

We were given free parking that was provided behind the accommodation. The area was clean and showers were fantastic. Bed was very comfortable and firm. Was very handy to have a washing machine and dryer to use (only a few hundred yen to be paid to the staff). The location is great. Right next to the train station and the information centre where you can hire e-bikes for the day!

My only warning to guests would be to wear earplugs if you are a light sleeper or want to sleep in past 8am. Since it is near a main road, you might hear some noise from traffic lights, cars and people in the morning.

Very convenient for an overnight stay en route to Kumano Kodo trail. Located just opposite the train station and most of the izakayas are near the train station too. Toilet was amazing. The toilet cover woud automatically lift up the moment you stepped into the toilet. Bunk bed was comfortable with space to lay out small items on bedside and hang towel.

Beds/rooms were on the second floor while toilet/shower was on the first floor.

This is a hostel with amazing value and hospitality. The facilities are new, clean and super comfortable - easily one of the best dormitories I've ever stayed in. The bar is a very nice plus: beautifully decorated, great music and good prices. Yoichi the owner is very nice and knows his trade. Plus, impossible to get a better location if you're planning to do the Kumano Kodo. Totally recommended!

Reception only opens at 4pm, but it's just a matter of coordinating to leave your bags earier

Django location is very convenience, very close to train station and tanabe information office. I came back after my hike and i got same room as before. Comfy. They have washing machine and dryer, so you can do your laundry after hike. The staff is really nice and helpfull.

Please put information of how to use the washing machine and dryer for more convenient.

The host was excellent, he called a few accom places ahead of our kimono kodo trail to ensure they had availability, he was extremely helpful. The bunks were clean and spacious for hostel bunks. Cute little balcony at the top for a drink too.

There was only a microwave and kettle for kitchen but this is enough for a short stay, and good restaurants near by so it was okay

Good short stay before hiking the Kumano Kodo. There is a nice little bar downstairs, and the owner is really friendly. The sheets and beds were extremely comfortable! The location was also superb, as it is literally right across the street from the train station.

As others have mentioned, it can get kind of loud. There is a karaoke next door, and sometimes drunk people would talk loudly on nearby streets (or even worse, you end up with another guest making a late night phone call in the hallway). It could be bad for light sleepers.
