I had a lovely experience on this houseboat. It’s very well maintained and the beds are very comfortable. It’s on a peaceful lotus lake and I loved listening to the birds and practicing yoga on the deck to the sunset. The family are lovely and could not do more. The food is delicious and prices are reasonable and beautiful Kashmiri tea served all day. Highly recommend.

On my last day, I felt really pressured to leave a review and to tip. I don’t mind being asked once but several times, lead me to leave feeling quite frustrated. I would also have appreciated more transparency about meal and boat prices- a price list would be nice.

We really enjoyed our stay at Chachoo Palace. It is exactly as described and in the pictures, a simply but comfortable place to unwind by the backwaters of Dal Lake. The whole place was very clean and well looked after and the owner & staff very friendly and supportive the whole way through. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning and the creamy Kawa tea on the balcony in the beautiful morning light that was shining through the leafy trees around. It's quickly accessible via Tuk Tuk or even Shikara and a 5-15 min ride gets you to most of the main attractions. It's a fantastic place to leave the sounds of the city behind for a little bit and just kick back and unwind from the excitements around. Would 100% recommend and stay again.

The only thing would be a fan in the bathroom, that would help with the humidity inside. The room fan worked very well and with the doors open it was a quick airing out.

The hotel is basic with minimal facilities, which is to be expected for the very affordable room rate, but it provided a safe, secure and friendly base for explorations of the city, its beautiful gardens, and Lake Dal with its mountain views, boats and house boats. The hotel is right on the edge of the lake, and the location was perfect from that point of view. I had some really good meals, cooked on the premises, willingly adapted to my western preferences and relatively low spice threshold! There was continuous hot water in the bathroom, but my room was rather cold although heaters were available. The manager/owner Manzoor was extremely helpful, making bookings for airport pickup and drop, lake tour, and finding me a very keen and knowledgable guide Mohsin to visit handicrafts artisans.

Power cuts were quite regular which interfered occasionally with the otherwise adequate wifi connection. The rooms were very basic but some cupboard space would have been appreciated.

The stay at Chachoo Palace in Srinagar was really enjoyable with cosy comforts and remarkable hospitality. The place is virtually situated on Dal lake within reasonable proximity to market area. The proprietor of the hotel, Mansoor Sahab is an educated, sensitive and caring person. Altaf, the attendant is a wonderful person always attending to the needs of the guests.l wish the hotel flourishes more and more in the days to come.

I found it a little inconvenient that there was neither any looking glass nor wardrobe in the room. A telephone for asking room service is also needed

The location is such a pleasant surprise! The property is right there on the water, surrounded by birds and willow trees, with the local people rowing along in the water going about their business. It is a peaceful and tranquil oasis. Easily you can spend a whole day by the water watching the world go by.

Only it can be improved when the cafe is complete! But in the meantime the hosts offer all the chai and food you could want.

The hotel is by the lake, it has a very relaxing atmosphere, nature is really close. It is an affordable great alternative of the Houseboats. The hotel staff was really helpfull in everything: booked the airport transfer, the sightseeings, even organized to have my laundry done. Food is available and delicious. I really recommend this hotel.

Right near the water, most of the reviews are pretty accurate. A budget, relaxed place with very helpful staff.

Bathroom was a bit basic, some more space for putting things would be handy.

The comfortable approach of the team from Chachoo himself to Altaf who made me feel like I really was visiting my uncle's home. They took care of me like their own when I arrived in unable to adjust to the cold weather. Even to the point of making sure I didn't go to sleep hungry even when I was too tired to eat.

Nothing, it was perfect for the solo traveller.

I only booked one night as I was hoping to find a houseboat for the following days. I did find a houseboat but had I not I would have gladly stayed longer. It was sublimely quiet and loved the lake setting. Great value, I would stay again.

Breakfast is not included though it was very inexpensive. No electric kettle in room so you couldn't enjoy coffee on the terrace for the sunrise.

Lovely place to stay in Srinagar. Very hospitable owner and staff. Great location right on the lake. Arranged a shikara ride for us that we could pick up right at the hotel due to location. Would definitely recommend.

Shower head didn't really work so had to have bucket showers however it was very hot water which was lovely. This was common in places that we stayed at though so not unique to this place.
