We loved everything about Mama’s bungalows. The rooms are fairly standard wooden bungalows but was big enough and the balcony is perfect for relaxing in the hammock. Electricity in the room is solar powered which is great and wifi available in the restaurant. Soi, Dao and all the staff are so friendly, very helpful and really lovely people. The restaurant has the best view over the sea and perfect for chilling and the food is wonderful! The beach is great in a shallow bay perfect for swimming and watching the sunset. We stayed just over 2 weeks and did not want to leave!! Will definitely be coming back! Thank you Soi, for everything!

Mamas bungalows are located in a beautiful small bay with only wild rainforest to one wide. From our balcony we spotted monkeys and lots of birds. Mama and her staff were all very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. In general there was a "home away from home" atmosphere and I understand why many of the other guests had come back for the last many years, ways staying at least a month. You can choose to be private and do your own thing, but if you fancy a chat, the other guests and Mama are there for that! Koh chang is a special island that I would come back to, and even though many of the other guesthouses also looked nice, mamas is special because of the friendly and home-like vibe.

What a place! The gorgeous beach, the views and the incredible food at the restaurant, the incredible people, the dogs! The nature all around and the quiet, although people are lively and have a joyful energy that doesn't get boring. The bed was very big and the room spacious with a great balcony. Luckily the WiFi from the restaurant could reach there, so I could work. Love the fact that everything is solar-powered. Would love to come back again!

The bungalow could use a little care. The door could lock although it didn't close properly -it made me a bit nervous in the jungle.

Mamas had an extensive menu of both Western and Thai food. Everything is freshly made! You have a log book for your room that you order food/drinks, where you can settle up the bill for your tab once you check out. WiFi is incredibly patchy, but works best in the restaurant. We found that phone signal is pretty much nonexistent but we liked being able to switch off and immerse ourselves in nothingness. Things are run off solar here, so be mindful of electricity sometimes cutting out. We had no issues with this, however. The family are SUPER friendly here- very warm and accommodating. Poppy the doggo will look her cutest at you for some food but resist the urge! Haha.

Obviously, water pressure isn't the greatest but it does a job. Embrace the rustic-ness! When you get off the motorbike, walk down to Mama's via the beach, and not the sign that leads you into the trees.

Loved the warm, loving hospitality. And the food there is probably the best on the island. You have to try the deep fried banana and coconut fritters The resort is nestled away, perched above rocks with a beautiful view of the ocean. The resident dog, a 3 month old pup named Puppy will give you lotsa play and snugggles. Oh there also are a few hornbills around and they come by and chill around the restaurant's tree. Basically, highly recommended if you love the idea a great getaway and being able to disconnect (as network signal wasn't strong), having the perfect holiday with amazing food and delicious cocktails and warm hospitality.

There is nothing to not like

Loved our stay at Mama's Bungalows in Koh Chang Ranong. The rooms were the perfect type of basic bungalows I'd expect in southern Thailand. Food at the restaurant was also great, specifically we loved the spicy nam tok salad. The trust system for writing down what you consumed yourself was perfect, too.

Too many German people for my taste. It's not really conducive to a nice experience of southern Thailand if literally everyone around you is speaking German non-stop. Not much to do about this, I guess, but still worth mentioning.

Very friendly and familar athmosphere. The host Soi helps in every situation, arranging ferry tickets, transfers... The restaurant is also very good and has good price-value.

No electricity for charging in the bungalows. Wifi restricted to the restaurant.

Very friendly and helpful staff with a great sense of humor! They are the best! The food is delicious, all of it, but especially the ice cream (rare on the island). Clean and cosy bungalow with a great view. Bathroom was big and Thai style. If I come back to the island I'll stay here again. Kop khun ka!

Everything about this place is absolutely incredible! I'm torn between telling everyone i know to go here and keeping it a secret paradise to retire to when I'm 70😇 The accomodation is a simple bungalow that comes with a porch furnished with chairs and a hammock. I wish this place was my permanent home, could sit on the porch sipping beer for ever. The lack of fan never really bothered us as the bungalows let the breeze through quite well. There is a plug in the bungalow that works during the night for charging. The location is absolutely gorgeous. Mama arranged a taxi bike for us when we got to the pier, so it was easy to get to. The bungalows and restaurant are right on a beach that is pristine and clean, without rocks to hurt your feet on. The water was void of sea lice (which we appreciated after many jellyfish-infested waters in Thailand) and lovely to swim in during sunsets. There's not much in the area but you don't need it anyway, because Mama and her incredibly kind staff cook up many different kinds of delicious food all day! I'm sure you've read it in other comments, but it can never be said too often, Mama and the other staff are incredibly kind, caring and hospitable people and turn this paradise into a new home, thank you so much :)
