Shared bathroom/toilet was clean. Location is perfect for us since we didn’t rent a car. The bus stop is closed to the house. Even though, some comments were about thin wall, we thought that all of the guests were very tired from hiking so the place was very quiet after 7 pm. The house is located in the residential area so on the way back to the house, a friendly cat always greet us. If you are a cat person, this is a plus. But the cat at the house on the opposite side of the dinner looked funny.

There was no bottle water provided during our stay. It would have been nice to have some water.

We stayed in the "new" building. Fantastic guesthouse in a central location in Miyanoura. Friendly staff. Good facilities including washer/dryers, trainer/boot dryers, cooking hobs, microwave, fridge etc. 20 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Close to restaurants and cafes. 2 supermarkets close by if you want to supply your own food. Rooms japanese style with futons, they have aircon and power. Highly recommended. Can also recommend 恵比寿大黒とし (Izakaya Restaurant - cash only https://maps.app.goo.gl/25WrWwai8HG85tSQ6) Subarashi Indian Restaurant (great Nepalese food https://maps.app.goo.gl/hsJCipWk1onhzJ4r8).

I was in the new building. Everything was very clean, functional and functioning, including the laundry room and the kitchen. I really liked my room with the view on the mountains and the forest. I found it very comfortable, the location is perfect as it is quiet, extremely close to the bus stops and 15 minutes by foot from the ferry harbour. The owners at the reception did their best to explain to me how to get around with the public transportation, and they even organise daily vegan (!) bento boxes that are delivered to the accommodation. Highly recommended!

As it is often the case in Japan, the room is not particularly soundproof. Luckily the other guests where quite mindful their noise level and were not too loud. I would have loved to have a reading lamp with a warm light, as there was only the overhead illumination which is really not that pleasant.

Very nice accomodation, you get the vibes that you would expect from a rural house in Japan. They have all the amenities that you need. They can also deliver a bento for you in the morning. The guesthouse is located on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a fishing shop.

When the weather is windy, it can get cold during the night. The room had A/C, but I found only remote controls for TV and lighting, not for A/C. I recommend to place your futon far from the window. I forgot to ask the owners about remote control, so my fault.

-The staff/worker downstairs in the shop is super friendly, helped me break down my larger bills into smaller ones multiple times, and enthusiastically greeted me every time I saw him. -The room was quite spacious and clean, and very affordable. -The pay-to-use shoe drying device in the laundry room was extremely useful for drying my wet shoes. I also liked that you aren't restricted to 1 towel for your entire stay like some other hostels. -Good location in Miyanoura, a minute away from a bus stop.

You'd want to bring ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones, as the soundproofing is quite poor/walls are quite thin.

Very good location, only a few minutes walk from Miyanoura port and bus stop is in front of the place. We can order the breakfast and lunch box for the next day hiking. The staffs are very helpful, giving many good advices about the transportation, hiking, place to eat,.... even though having some problem with English. Also free washing machine with JPY100 for 8 min. drying.

A bit noise because of the thin wall but not much problem for me.

I checked in at the fishing supplies shop, and was then taking to the building where my room was. The room was located in the new wing, a building in the back streets but only a few minutes walk away. The building was newer than I expected. Everything was in near brand new condition (I could smell the new tatami), and I could use the share bathroom/toilet comfortably. It was supposedly fully booked, but I hard saw the other guests, and it was always quiet.

Very basic but awesomely equiped guesthouse for hikers (or fishers). I was in the annex in quiet back street, nice to open window at night with mosquito net. Kitchen has fridge, microwave and small oven, laundry room with washing machine, dryer and shoe dryer. Shared toilet, shower all very clean. Nice other guests

Small downsides, someone will each day take the 4am bus to Arakawa Museum, being a bit loud.

It's located in front of one of the bus stops in Miyanoura. It's very convenient to move around and close to the Miyanoura port and tourist information center. The room I stayed in was very comfortable, wide and clean. The receptionist was very kind and accommodating. I could do the check-in procedure earlier since I wanted to take the bus to do one of the trails. She showed me around and took my luggage to the room when it was ready. When I came back from the hike I could go straight to the room to rest and do my laundry.

As in many places in Japan, the walls are very thin, so you might want to be careful of not being too noisy. And if you have a light sleep, take some ear plugs with you. There is a small "kitchen area" with a microwave, but I saw no tableware apart from disposable chopsticks. It's good for heating up a store-bought-lunchbox if you need to.

Very good location, good wifi and parking right next to the building. Bus stop is also right in front of the building. The facilities are simple, but basic standard for japanese guest houses. There are recommendations and pamphlets available for what to do in Yakushima. Also the price is very fair.

The futon was very thin, especially in the middle, which gave me some back pain after sleeping on it for a few nights. There is a dryer but no facilities to hang clothes that can't go into the dryer (like rain coats). So you have to hang them in your room, which leaves stains on the wooden walls.
