Great location with good views at the surrounding park and the river. Outstanding buffet.

The whole place is enormous and needs renovation.

Beautiful location and views. Very large room, large bathroom, very comfortable bed, pillows and Blackout curtains made for a good sleep except the air con is very noisy. We learned after a sleepless night to use low mode. Mimi fridge was useful, although you are only provided with 2 small water bottles per day. Coffee machine was useful too, although only provided with a small amount of coffee pods, 2 paper cups and coffee mate per day. They may have provided more but we didn’t ask. The balcony and hammock were incredible. The pool area is nice with comfortable loungers. The lobby was very pleasant and there was a free water cooler top up your bottles. Breakfast was nice but felt over priced for a limited buffet; the fresh fruit was very nice. We ate in the monkey bar as the view was amazing. The music was a little loud and unnecessary with the view and the birdsong. The menu is fairly limited after 4 days. The empanadas were good if you don’t want a full meal. There are trails in the grounds but limited information about these is available from the hotel. They do not provide maps but suggest google maps, which would be very helpful. We booked the combination of tours. The sloth sanctuary was good (the frogs, orchids and butterflies are part of the attraction) but it did feel quite rushed and you don’t get time to wander on your own. The arial tram was sedate and okay. The lake Gatun tour was incredible. We saw a sloth, howler monkeys, white faced capuchins, tamarins, an iguana and a crocodile. I would highly recommend this trip and would happily have done this every day in place of the others. The guide, Ernesto, was informative and knowledgeable. The free night safari was okay, we saw a sloth. Overall, the location is the best thing. If you want to experience the orchestra of the rainforest, lie in a hammock watching hummingbirds feed, and want to stay in comfort this is a great place.

I really enjoyed my stay at the gamboa resort. The hotel location is as good as it gets, it's the best value for your money and the only proper hotel in the Gamboa region. The morning buffet has a very good selection and the food tastes great. The selection of excursions are hosted by young and enthousiastic guides. Some advice: Take the earliest monkey island tour and/or the sunrise tour for the best value for your money. Skip the Sloth Sanctuary and the Aerial tram and take one of the many (free) trails on the resort's property (With a good chance to see sloths & monkeys).

The facility could use more general maintanance for both the rooms as the facilities. Prices for both the (A-la-carte) meals, cocktails as the excursions are all high for panama standards, especially once you understand that all excursions are facilitated (/owned?) by the resort itself. I was there at the end of the high season but sun sets around 7pm and most / all resort activity ended around 8pm and after that there is only little to do on/around the resort property.

Great property and splendid location - absolutely stunning building and pool deck with magnificent views on Gamboa and the river - great rooms and huge beds. Nice hall, free on-site safari, and good on-site tours.

Staff is not trained for international hospitality at all. Weird questions, impolite and at times rude answers, ignorant and self-centered behavior. Training is necessary so that foreign guests aren’t perceived as burden. Staff is not educated on the history of this property and has no understanding of the historic value of the building, its surroundings and special places like the old library and what they mean to former residents.

The location in the rainforest is splendid! We saw monkeys, toucans, quetzals, sloths, caimans, turtles, etc. 2 nights were perfect! They have 3 restaurants, a pool bar, an activity desk, a large pool area with chairs and towels. The room was comfortable and very quiet.

It’s an old complex. A few things are in need of repairs (plugs, lamp not working). We booked the combo,3 tours. Expensive. The teleferico is really worth it. The boat tour on Lake Gatun, not so much. They’re going way too fast on the lake (200hp engine) It’s better to walk down to the marina and rent a private boat (cheaper and slower, so you have time to admire the scenery).

Our room was very spacious and well laid out, with a lovely view (and deck) looking out to the river. We really appreciated the daily cleaning, and the fact that the AC was kept on constantly. The hotel is set right inamongst numerous activities - the Sloth Sanctuary (you can only buy tickets from the hotel for the tour), the zipline tours, a free night tour, and a bike rental shop. There are additional trails nearby to walk/bike on, and it's also a relatively short walk into 'town'. Staff were very accommodating, and the breakfast was quite superb (heaps of fresh fruit as well as baked goods and hot dishes). We only got to use the large pool once, but it was a nice place to hang out for a while! We would definitely recommend this accommodation option to anyone wanting to enjoy everything that Gamboa has to offer.

Our only 'complaint' was that our room was right at the end of the building, which entailed quite a walk several times a day to get back to reception and the main parking area (there are gates that lead out on the way, however they were all locked, meaning you had to transit through reception). For those not so keen on walking the distance every day, I would recommend requesting a room close to the reception/restaurant area.

The location is stunning. Embedded within the rainforest, the reserve includes a managed area alongside the Chagres River with an abundance of wild life. The surrounding forest is a national park teeming with plant and animal life and is safe to explore. The pool is huge, clean and refreshing. All the staff were attentive and helpful. Our room was spacious with glorious views from the balcony.. Drinks were good value but the tours were quite expensive.

The rainforest is a challenging location for buildings and not everything was sparkling and pristine. That was ok with us as all the essentials worked well. We purchased a full board plan which was convenient ( there are almost no local restaurants ) and had decent but uninspiring buffet meals. Bit disappointing but we didn't expect fine dining.

This hotel is located inside the natural reserve park and the views from the rooms are absolutely unbeaten. OMG you can just spend your entire stay at the terrace in the hammock and be feeling blessed. The hotel offers a short 30 mins night safari included in your stay and we went out every night - only saw some caymans, coati and several bird species but it was fun! We did all the activities they offer including visits to the sloth sanctuary which is basically part of the hotel but they charge you extra for that. There are five sloths in total - you only get to see two. We loved the areal team activity and the boat ride to the monkey island also was a nice thing to do. A good thing is they let us do all those activities with the same ticket in two days not in one as it is supposed to be normally - it is too much for one day!

Food choices for lunch and breakfast are very limited and for the price they charge… Unfortunately you have no choice as there is literally nowhere else you can eat. We tried the main restaurant a couple of times and then ended up using the snack bar by reception. The rooms are big and nicely decorated area. However my husband and I had a freshly repaired room whereas our kids who were given a room three doors from ours had a much worse room that definitely needs to be redone asap. One of the buildings looks completely run done but I think they don’t use in so maybe just don’t have the funds to take care of it. Still does ruin the impression a little bit when you walk by…

The optional food plan including breakfast, lunch and dinners buffets was great for our family. Lots of choice. Room was comfortable. View was great. Free night safari was great. Tours were perfect for a glimpse of the rainforest, Canal and wildlife. Staff very friendly.

Room was simple but sparse. Dehumidifier going in room had to be emptied multiple times a day due to high humidity…glad it was there but was noisy.

Overall I thought this hotel was good value for money (we paid about EUR 130 per night). My kids loved the pool, the view of the river is amazing (ask for a higher floor), and the room was spacious and comfortable. Staff was generally friendly and fairly effective. We did the free night safari tour, which is only 30 mins, but my kids really enjoyed seeing crocodiles and turtles. There are also a lot of easy trails walking distance for the hotel which was a nice way to explore the jungle.

The food was OK but not delicious (though not as horrible as I expected from all the very negative comments), and unfortunately there are not a lot of other restaurant options around. My main criticism is that the activities and tours offered (like ziplining - USD 55 per person!) are very expensive and IMO overpriced, but this seems to be a general trend in Panama. The room walls are very thin - on our last day a family moved into the room next door and we could hear the TV going all day. Ask for an isolated room if you're sensitive to noise.
