Although far removed from restaurants (15-20 minutes), it was exactly what we needed for a 2 family meet up to introduce our 2 dogs and ultimately transfer/adopt our foster dog from one couple to another. The common areas were amazing for hanging out with both couples and dogs. The back of the property had tons of open space and wooded trails to a river for walking the dogs. The rooms were spacious, warm, and although a little dated, very homey, comfortable, and exactly what we needed. Hosts were great.

Check in process was a bit cumbersome, a lot of the details could have been provided ahead of time in order to speed up the process once you arrived. The fridge froze our vegetables overnight so perhaps a note on it receommending the correct settings would be nice!

Black River Lodge is a hidden gem very close to nice hiking and sites to visit along Black River Road and beyond. The room we had was very spacious and had a table, chairs and microwave and refrigerator. The views out the very impressive peaked windows showed off the lovely fall foliage. The family who owns the lodge were very friendly and know the area very well, sharing tips of all types about how to appreciate the area. It was like staying with family!

We didn't stay long enough to appreciate the area and the lodge more. Minimum 2 days would be our recommendation... even longer would be nice.

I liked that they had several things for families to do on premise (bags, food all. Pickleball, etc.

The AC unit was very old and falling apart. With the strong rains, rain leaked in through the roof at night on my phone. I did wake up and moved my phone so no damage was done.

Great staff - husband and wife and their friendly dog are very welcoming and provide a lot of information of what us available in the area.

Hearty sacks available for purchase at the bar would be nice addition for them to consider.

Seemed like the heat didn't really work but the little heater had it cozy in the room so didn't really affect anything. All in all was a great stay. Very clean and comfortable

living rooms in both room and general areas in Lodge very comfortable and inviting . Our room was upstairs - easy stairs cases with landings . Might ask for a first floor next visit.

Very quiet and peaceful. My niece and I shared a room but we both had our own area with our own bathroom. It was great!

It was a little way from town, but really not bad at all.

Very convenient location, close to the Porcupine Mountains and on the Black River National Scenic Byway. The owners are very kind and helpful.

The black river lodge doesn’t feel like a hotel, it feels like a stay with friends. You can always ask the hosts questions or just have a chat with them. It is also located near beautiful waterfalls and the black river harbor.
