Cozy and quaint location, great breakfast, pleasant staff and the sound of running water outside of your window with beautiful balconies to sit and take in your surroundings. Ziegenrück is a gorgeous village and you must stay at Hotel Am Schlossberg if you’re in the area! Lots to do and see and amazing for any nature lover.

Very friendly and helpful staff (although it would be a bit easier for everybody if you speak German). Whatever I asked about they tried their best to accommodate our requests.

The location was fabulous. The staff was friendly and the manager went out of the way to be helpful.

The rooms are outdated but the view was spectacular.

I'm not normally fussy about where I stay during a hiking holiday, but the list of things I ran into in this case was a major disappointment, esp. as I had high hopes based on other Booking reviews. This is my first time in tens of years that I actually started writing down everything that I noticed. 1) The WiFi was unstable. Sometimes it worked just fine, sometimes not at all. This was the first major disappointment for me, as an IT guy who always checks reviews of the WiFi before booking. 2) The room was cramped and not 100% clean. E.g. I found stuff left behind by earlier residents under the bed. 3) The matrass tended to shift off the bed all the time. 4) The door to the balcony had a defect. 5) There was no separator screen between "my" balcony and that of the next room. One can look into the other room. 6) On my second day, the hotel reserved a breakfast table for me (nice), but placed a half-board menu selection form for another room number on the same table. And I hadn't even booked half-board in the first place. I hope the guests in the other room ended up getting their meal without a hassle. 7) One of the chairs in my room was loose as hell. 8) The regular pillow was very small and the spare pillow was very yellow (as if it hadn't been washed in a long time). 9) The "you are here" indicator on the emergency exit plan in my room was positioned on the room next door! 10) The mini-bar was not refilled. 11) I spotted a rust streak running down inside the minibar. 12) The shower door didn't want to close properly, unless one used a lot of convincing. 13) And finally - the absolute no-no cherry on the cake: One morning I had posted the "do not disturb" sign while I was preparing for my hike, and yet a hotel staff member knocked (twice, as I did not immediately react!). When I opened, he bluntly asked permission to water the flowers on the balcony!

It was very clean. The views to the river are beautiful.

The restaurant was expensive and they didn’t offer anything vegetarian-friendly. Asked for a dish without the meat and still payed full price! Also at 6.45am someone with keys to the room opened the door while i was in bed. Surprised i didn’t have an heart attack. Not fun as a young woman solo traveler.
