Loved the location and how beautiful it was. It's just stunning.

Bit of a wait for snacks. Felt I was ignored the second day waiting for my drink and food to arrive and being single? Felt tables could be cleared off quicker as some tables were left sitting for a long time after guests had left. Some of your staff were amazing and so helpful and a few a little slow.

We arrived late at around 11:00 PM after a long journey from Seville, with some sightseeing stops along the way. Our route took us through breathtaking landscapes, including Zahara de la Sierra, Grazalema, Queso El Bosqueño (a cheese producer), and Setenil de las Bodegas. The drive was scenic but involved winding mountain roads. Upon arrival, Anna at reception kindly stayed late to check us in, even though reception closes at 11 PM. She welcomed us warmly, showed us to our room, and handed us our key—an appreciated gesture after a long day of travel. The Room & Experience The view from our room was simply spectacular! The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with soft, cozy pillows, making for a restful night. The room itself was beautifully designed, and the modern bathroom added a touch of luxury. However, we were woken up around 8:30 AM by sounds from doors and plumbing, as the soundproofing wasn’t the best. We started our morning on the 6th-floor bar, enjoying coffee in the tranquil garden with stunning panoramic views. It was such a peaceful setting that we wished we had booked a longer stay. The Lift Incident Unfortunately, we had a bit of an unsettling experience as we were leaving. While taking the lift from the 6th floor to the ground floor, the doors wouldn’t open upon arrival. We waited for about five minutes before pressing the alarm, but we couldn’t hear any response, which made us a little anxious—especially since our mobile phones had no signal inside the lift. Eventually, after repeated attempts, someone responded, assuring us that maintenance was on the way. After approximately 35 minutes, a maintenance worker managed to pry the doors open. While these situations are rare, we felt there could have been better communication to reassure us that help was on the way. Final Thoughts Despite the lift issue and some noise in the morning, we would definitely return.

After deciding not to stay in central Malaga, but rather tour a greater area, I came across this hotel, about 35mins easy drive west of the city. It appeared favourably in a couple of online listing sites I trust of great small/boutique hotels, and I liked the idea of staying in a castle! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the hotel was stuffed full of character, and had lots of lovely outdoor and indoor spaces to relax, including a pretty rooftop garden, with the most spectacular views. There was an all-day bar selling a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, and delicious snacks/light meals, and there was also a very nice restaurant, although I only ate the very acceptable breakfast in there. My room was in a turret with a four-poster bed, and was very comfortable and spacious, with a nice big bathroom. All-in-all, a great find, and an excellent base from which to tour Malaga province.

I can't really find anything I didn't like, but you need to be a confident driver to access the hotel. I am, but I imagine less experienced drivers, esp. on the 'other side of the road' may find it a bit daunting. Also, bring ear plugs if you are used to peace and quiet, as I am! I want to emphasise this is absolutely no fault of the hotel. They were very apologetic and there is nothing they can do about it, but there are a pack of very noisy dogs, who bark and howl on and off all night in the village, so come prepared, but don't let that put you off...it's a lovely place to stay and relax! :)

Excellent location with superb views and lots of terraces. Well placed for touring. Excellent food and very polite staff who are always happy to help with anything. In Winter not many open restaurants nearby but hotel has good menu and service. The coast is only 30 mins away. Our room had a lovely little terrace all to itself.

If you expect slippers, bathrobes and individual soaps/shower gels etc, ... you will be disappointed. Hotel is quite cool in January; our bathroom could have done with some form of heating.

The staff at reception were superb. I booked in a little early but the room was not ready. Sitting outside having pre-lunch drinks, they sought me out to bring the room key. The lunch was good and the staff attentive but there was little atmosphere as we were the only ones in the dining room.

Although the castillo itself was in an idyllic location, the access was really difficult. Through Monda on the way there, the roads were unbelievably narrow with both wing mirrors in danger of damage. We took the alternative exit road but that was exceedingly steep and very bendy. Monda town had numbers of blocked roads with road works making access hard. Our room (and bathroom) was a bit shabby with dark painted marble floors.

Once we got to top of the very steep hill to Castillo de Monda the hotel did not disappoint. The location is absolutely incredible with stunning views. The hotel balances a boutique feel with the impressive stature of an ancient monument. From being greeted at reception to the bar and waiting staff the service was exceptional. The hotel is perfect place to relax. Monda is a quiet village without tourists. There are local restaurants and bars. Do not expect glitz and glamour of a five star hotel. What you can expect is wonderful staff, great food, beautiful location and bags of character. Just what we needed for a 3 night stay.

Nothing. Everything was great!

Loved it! Great experience that was elevated by an attentive and very charismatic team. We had some special requests including dietary restrictions which were delivered very nicely despite short notice. Hotel Castillo was our home away from home, with an awesome view and in a comfortable range to many of the region's top attractions, nestled perfectly between main cities as well as the coast and inland wilderness.

It’s perfect , it oozes charm , there are so many beautiful rooms and outdoor spaces . The views are incredible . Sunrises and sunsets were amazing. Swimming pool to die for . Food is wonderful , restaurant has the most incredible views . The staff are lovely , loved speaking with all the interns so friendly .

If anything the windey road up the castle is scary to drive one way and the small streets in the village if you go the other way.

Amazing views . great out of the way location in close proximity to Ronda and Antequera . Perfect for couples . Not ideal for kids. Very good value . We liked the food service at the lounge . Asked for wine from Ronda and they had it! There is a car charging station! They are trying to be eco. friendly but the local government restricts putting up solar panels!

The first room choice was by the kitchen vent which is loud. We were easily moved to 706 which is beautiful. However, the plumbing is not vented correctly so the room smells a little like the sewer. Don't plan on reading there because it is poorly lit. I think they are trying to save money on electricity.

We were excited with every single piece of the place: lobby, decoration, room, views, restaurants, food, bars, garden, pool, staff, everything. It's really one of the places you are coming with high expectations, but the place itself, nature around and people inside exceeded it in every single bit.

Probably there is a need for a lager number of sun beds near the pool. We didn't experience any issues, but I saw some guests did. Another point, again didn't bother me, but we stayed there for 2 nights. Though quality of food is great, variety of what you have for breakfast can become boring if you are staying more than 3 nights.
