The manager and staff were very kind and accommodating. My flight got massively delayed arriving at Aswan so my original booking with the hotel to for a private car to the hotel had been impacted. Despite this, the manager and staff actively communicated with me to make sure my friend and I get to the hotel safely after dark. The manager also arranged for us to go on a really nice sunset boat trip then the early minivan trip back to Aswan. Overall it is very helpful to have the local manager's help in getting around and his english is good. We enjoyed our stay and am glad it's the first hotel we stayed in Egypt.

Khalid’s warmth and energy was just what we needed after experiencing the stress and chaos of Cairo. He made us feel welcomed and is a genuine human being which is refreshing in a country full of pushy people and scammers. His attentiveness to us was amazing and he really helped while I was dealing with food poisoning. The food was fresh, clean and delicious. Abu SIMBEL is a small village and for 30 LE we got a tuk tuk from the hotel to the temple which is less than 10 min away. This place was better than where we stayed in Cairo and we felt like honored guests our entire stay. The chef, front desk man and Khalid also helped celebrate my mothers birthday with a cake, candles + song and dance. I would definitely recommend and would revisit without a doubt.

The shower doesn’t have a cover or gate to keep water from splashing out but this is a 1st work problem lol

We loved the place! Nice cosy and clean! Also it is well maintained and the owners are working to make it even better. The people who work here are really sweet and helpful.

The breakfast was terrible. They really need to rethink about their breakfast because it ruins a bit all the rest.

I loved this place! Charming and colorful Nubian-style hotel run by the loveliest family. Really comfortable rooms, great shower, great bed. Staff was so helpful with everything you need for your visit to Abu Simbel, as well as your arrival and departure logistics. Wonderful dinner available with great food and service. Location is perfect -- free shuttle from the airport drops you right in front of the hotel; public buses going to Aswan also depart/arrive right in front. Five minute fun tuk-tuk ride to the Abu Simbel temple available at any time and costs only 1 euro/1 usd. Staying overnight is a great option, rather than visiting as an exhausting day trip from Aswan. Hllol Hotel was a lovely experience -- totally recommend!

Wish there was real coffee at breakfast rather than instant Nescafe :(

This hotel was a great choice. It's a cracking little hotel ran by a super friendly owner and staff who will take care of you. Good restaurant that served us one of the best meals we had in Egypt. There is also a chilled coffee/tea room that's a nice place to unwind after a day at Abu Simbel. Our room was decent for the price, clean and had all the necessary facilities including air-con. All the staff were attentive and the hospitality warm. The owner has done a great job with the design and the hotel is full of colour in the Nubian style. He can also arrange a boat trip on the lake during sunset which I definitely recommend. Also, the bus/coach station is just up the road and the coach back to Aswan stops opposite the hotel. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, I would definitely recommend it.

I can't really think of anything that we didn't like, it really is that good. One thing to take note of is that the hotel is next door to a mosque with very loud speakers. It didn't bother us but some ear plugs might come in handy if you're a light sleeper.

This is a charming place in Abu Simbel, simple but high in character. The hotel features whitewashed stone walls with painted motifs that draw on Nubian culture, give the place a lot of personality, and instill a calm serenity. The layout is also really nice, rooms facing an arcaded passage and small gardens set up with tables and chairs. There is a really nice lounge with great decorative touches. Breakfast is straightforward and filling; there is also a restaurant which serves very good Egyptian food. The staff is very nice and attentive to your every need. The hotel is located next to the Aswan bus stop, the minibus station, and the market. The hotel is not immediately next to Abu Simbel temples, but the walk is picturesque and no long.

There are some minor issues to take into consideration that would normally not be a huge deal, but are definite drawbacks given the hotel's price point. The mosque next door can be deafening and employees and groups can be noisy, then the stone structure amplifies the sound. There was also loud construction going on while I was in my room. The wifi can be dodgy, but this is a common problem in southern Egypt. Same applies to the hard mattresses. Electrical plugs may also be inconveniently place in rooms. Water got cut off for a period; I also had an issue with some staff chain-smoking and the smoke going into my room, which isn't appropriate.

I have only good things to say about this hotel. While the room that I stayed in was simple, there was a lot of charm to this hotel. The owner showed me photos of what the property looked like before he entered the lease a few years ago. An incredible transformation! So much hard work and creativity went into the renovations and with wonderful results. While I was there, an artist from Aswan was painting additional murals on the wall just ahead of the biannual sun festival. It’s a colorful and peaceful hotel, conveniently located just at the entrance of their main street, within walking distance of the temple, and with a small water feature in the lobby and two small courtyards to relax in.

Some of the staff had very limited English speaking skills, but it didn’t present a problem for me.

The host and staff were amazing. Everyone was so friendly. The location is great- we were able to walk to Abu Simbel in about 15 minutes. It was nice seeing the temple after many tour groups had left. The hostel is very basic and a budget option. The decor is charming and unique. They have a nice outdoor seating area with low tables and pillows to sit on. We had dinner here. They had two option of chicken or fish. We ordered chicken and had a wonderful traditional meal. Breakfast is basic with eggs, bread, and fruit. If you have the right expectations- this place is amazing. We would highly recommend!

The joyful colors of the decoration, the gardens full for flowers and silence to share a moment with friends, to work or read, the kindness of the staff, the delicious fish tagine, the spacious rooms !

Bathrooms are a bit too simple

Very friendly staff and always willing to help. When we have no small amount of money for tuk tuk, they are so kind to borrow us money. We have a wonderful stay with the nice and helpful staff, and the hotel is very colourful which makes you feel very relaxing
