To find the restaurant to be a Michelin mentioned one was a nice surprise and the food was excellent. However, to find the restaurant closed on the Monday night was a surprise, though they did say the chef might be able to rustle something up if necessary. We found somewhere else for dinner but were surprised that no staff member was around anywhere (in reception or the dining area) in the afternoon/evening. Breakfasts were buffet style with great choice available.

Beautiful hotel, good combination of traditional elements and modern touches in the interior. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Restaurant was very good (we especially liked tapas night on Thursday). Large parking just in front of the hotel is very convenient. Situated in the beautiful village of Sasbachwalden.

Restaurant was a bit on the expensive side compared to some restaurants in the neighbourhood.

We enjoyed everything - there were nothing we didn't enjoy. Again we are recommending the "zum Engel" to everyone.

This family are the perfect hosts and the hotel is immaculate. All the staff were incredibly helpful and made our stay a real pleasure. Of course, the absolute bonus is the Michelin rated restaurant. Fantastic food and wine, prepared and delivered with real pride, all in a magical Black Forest setting. Go there !

My room was in the second floor....there is not elevator ...you have to carry your luggage up the stairs without anyone helping you

I liked it very much. However, everything is written and explained only in German language, not even in English. They don't have vegetal milk in the breakfast, only caw milk. Apart from that, the experience was fantastic

It had a unique local decor and design. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, my room was comfortable and spotless with an amazing view and AIR CONDITIONING!

There no elevator, which is the only tiny downside. it made no difference for me, but a heavy bag or joint problems would make it more difficult.

Loved every minute of our stay, would highly recommend. Excellent breakfast, very beautiful and comfortable rooms, very friendly and fast working staff. We arrived late and were seated at the restaurant half an hour later for dinner, which was perfect because we hadn't arranged anything.

Lovely village and gorgeous hotel. Staff friendly and helpful, good food and wine! Highly recommend!
