Accra is expensive and this is the only place that I found with value for money. Part of it is a hostel but I got a private room and it worked great for me. The room was very clean, with a private bathroom, and a terrace. The private room is equipped with an AC and a ceiling fan so even if it was very a warm season, I was always very comfortable in my room. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are great. There's a bar by the pool and it's just nice to chill there on a warm evening. The hotel is located slightly outside the city center but it was perfect for me as I wanted to see more than just the busy center of Accra. Everything is very easily accessible from the hotel with an uber. If you are worried about mosquitoes, I didn't have any issues with them at any point of my stay at the hotel.

The street next to the hotel got pretty loud on Friday/Saturday night (I stayed during the Easter weekend, so I'm not sure if it's the case during other non-holiday periods) and it was a bit hard to find sleep - but that is not something the hotel can necessarily do anything about and I get that. Maybe other rooms were quieter. There were occasionally some tiny cockroaches in the bathroom but I had my own bug spray and it was all fine (none in the bedroom though).

The breakfast was absolutely fantastic--including everything from fruit to crepes to eggs. The bar was also quite nice and very well stocked. The female only dormitory was absolutely huge--with plenty of space for everyone. The pool area and the "sitting" areas were great places to meet other people. They have filtered water, which was appreciated.

The kitchen is non-existent--lacking pots/pans/plates, etc. The "stove" is two small burners. The staff didn't have very many tips or recommendations for things to do, but they were all very nice. The beds were NOT comfortable at all. The foam mattresses definitely need to be replaced.

Somewhere Nice is a really special place. A home away from home for all travellers. The staff are consistently beaming with happiness and willingness to help or just to chat and share stories. The place is so well maintained, with skilled people consistently making cool upgrades. The pool is a dream for being in Accra, the food is sensational and served at all times of day. Somewhere Nice lives up to it's name, and is truly one of the best hostels I've stayed in globally. Thank you especially to ChiChi, Robert, Regina and Ni for making my time here so special - I can't wait to see my Somewhere Nice family all again!

Overall, very satisfied with my 4 night stay here. In no particular order, I appreciated: being able to use my Visa card to pay for the reservation, laundry (gotta pick it up the next day), coffee bar (regular bar too but I don't drink), meals, AC in the room (for the most part, see below), very clean rooms, bathrooms and general areas, nice common areas to lounge in, pool, good security (have to get buzzed in but they're super quick at it), someone always staffing the check in desk, central location, great price, local food across the street. Staff very responsive overall. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Only suggestion I have is to have stronger AC in the room. The AC was set to around 17-18 and I could barely feel it. The AC stopped working momentarily which made it feel humid inside, there was an overhead fan but it wasn't enough to keep the room cool enough. It got fixed/started working again pretty quickly.

I arrived in the evening and was warmly welcomed by Destiny, who helped me throughout my stay, making everything easy and enjoyable. Regina and her kitchen team deserve a big shoutout for serving delicious food every day, especially the fresh bread at breakfast, which was a real treat. Chi Chi at the bar had a great personality and was always up for a good conversation, adding fun to my evenings. Geoffrey at the reception was incredibly helpful, guiding me on how to navigate the local transportation system efficiently. Additionally, Doreen in the shop was fantastic, crafting custom clothing for me that fit perfectly. The people here genuinely have a passion for hosting and making guests feel special, which is why this place stands out. I’ll definitely return because it feels like a second home, thanks to the wonderful and dedicated staff.

Amazing hostel for backpackers in Accra (and I think the only one). Super friendly staff (shoutout to Chichi and Niiokai <3), clean rooms, comfy dorms beds. The place has its bar, restaurant and a small souvenirs shop. Also provides filtered tap water and ice cubes for drinking, fridge and equipped kitchen. And it serves the best hostel breakfast I had!

Little suggestions for improvement - the beds have no mosquito nets (although I did not spot many mosquitos in the rooms), in the female dorm the beds could have curtains for more privacy. I wish the restaurant had more veggie options. For a hostel dorm it’s a bit pricey.

The breakfast is absolutely out of this world--lots of fruit, bread, eggs, etc., etc. Just fantastic. The bar is also very well stocked with a variety of drinks. The "common area" is also a great place to meet folks. The female only dorm is extremely spacious with plenty of room to put all of your things. The bathroom and dorm room was very clean. They also allow you to store things if you need to. The staff were all pleasant.

The shared kitchen is almost non-existent. Just a little hot plate with no real pots and pans to speak of. It's a bit far from the city center (but Ubers and Bolt are plentiful). The staff did not have a lot of information as to "what to do" or where to go to get public transportation to go to Wli falls (or other locations). The mattresses in the dormitory are absolutely terrible and extremely uncomfortable (with holes in the middle so you get a back ache)...

Somewhere Nice really honours it's name. The name is almost too humbly chosen as it is more than nice. It's somewhere beautiful! The hospitality, the people you meet, the life inside that place and the really cool look and design of the interior architecture is just amazing. I could live there. Best Hostel I have ever been to. Experience for yourself.

Dodgy air conditioning control in lower dorm and top dorm/rooms (by roof) reported too warm. In-house , general meals, provider changed, from competitive prices compared to prices for similar food in street outside to bad deal hotel prices at 2.5 to 3 times price during my later stay for no apparent reason. People voted with their feet accordingly
