Lovely colonial building, great location

Our biggest problem was breakfast. It’s quite weird that they commence their breakfast service at 7 in a touristy city where all the tours start at 7. We basically missed out on it every day. The hotel staff was not flexible with this. On the last day we got a breakfast box as we had to check out at 5 am, the box was pretty basic. Lastly one of the worst things was that the hotel has charged us for tea, without telling us we have to pay for it. Each evening we enjoyed the 2 coupes of tea and no one ever mentioned we need to pay extra for it. So we were surprised to be asked to pay for it at the check out

The hotel is very well presented and in a great location for exploring Salta. It's an old colonial building with small garden and pool at the back. The reception staff all spoke excellent English and were very helpful advising things to see, restaurants etc. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in Argentina so far - more varied options that are familiar to people travelling from Europe and less cake and cheese and ham than we have been served elsewhere!

The pool was very small - more of a plunge pool and when we were there the water was very dirty and unappealing- it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The rooms upstairs are along an open corridor and there isn't much sound proofing but it is a small hotel so not particularly noisy.

Villa Vicuña Salta Hotel Boutique is an absolute gem! Out of all the places we stayed during our three-week journey through Argentina, this was by far my favorite. The rooms are immaculate, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, making it the perfect retreat after exploring Salta. And let’s talk about breakfast—absolutely delicious! Every morning felt like a treat with fresh, flavorful options to start the day right. The location is prime—right in the heart of Salta, yet tucked away just enough to provide a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. It’s truly the best of both worlds. Villa Vicuña is a stunning boutique hotel, located in a very quiet street a few minutes walk from the main square and cathedral. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, as are the outside and communal spaces. Breakfast was delicious and we were given a packed breakfast to take on the day that we left early for our tour to Salinas Grandes. The hotel does not have a car park, but it’s really not an issue-there are plentiful private parking lots nearby where you can park for around US$15/day.

A beautiful decorated, small, heritage style hotel. All the staff were super friendly, especially Senor Santiago on the front desk. He made us feel very welcome and spoke perfect English, thank you! Great location. It was a 15 min walk from the main bus terminal (Terminal de Omnibus de Salta), a couple of blocks from the main square (Plaza 9 de Julio) and there are lots of cafe & restaurant choices along the street that the hotel is on. There is drinking water in the room and you can refill your drinking water by the water cooler at the pool area or by reception. There is a beautiful garden out back of the property with a small swimming pool and a covered area to sit and relax.

Unfortunately this time of year, with the heat and the rain, there were a lot of mosquitos in the garden. Sitting out there was a challenge as I hadn't brought any insect repellant with me. But there is a lovely seating area in Reception that you can move to.

Gracious staff. First-rate, cooked-to-order breakfast. Tranquil garden with plunge pool. Two blocks from Salta's main square (and its truly unique, unforgettable MAAM museum). Don't forget El Charrua for dinner, just across the street. And DO rent a car or (better) gravel bike and head west to Rte 40, and then south to Cafayate, to see the other-worldly landscapes including the Quebrada de las Flechas.

Electrical outlets were scarce in the room -- but this is a common issue in vintage hotels.

The staff was really friendly. I had an excursion very early in the morning and they kindly arranged the breakfast at 6am. The location is perfect, the back garden is just enchanting. Unfortunately it wasn’t warm enough to use the swimming pool. I would definitely go back again.

I am not really a religious person, and even though the painting of the saint was beautifully made, having this big painting in the room was a bit impressive and intimidating. That’s really the only thing I would point out.

I'm 62 years old and I've traveled all over the world. This is without a doubt the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The facilities are excellent, but it's the staff that make it a truly exceptional place to stay. Staff members are warm, friendly, efficient, and are committed to making your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The owners are passionate about design and you can see small and big touches throughout the property that suggest that serious thought has been put into everything.

The next hotel experience can't possibly match this. The next, and the one after, and....

A nicely decorated boutique hotel with very attentive staff and lovely breakfasts, comfy beds, a pretty outside space and great location near main square.

Just a bit more attention to detail would have made it perfect- I.e. pool wasn't clean so unable to use during our stay, difficult to use air con in our room as info rubbed off the buttons, and don't think I was aware that our room wouldn't have a window.

The property has 12 rooms in a beautifully restored building a block or so from the main square and right across from rental car offices and travel agencies, which makes it very convenient. Reception staff spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. Place smells amazing and the public areas are beautifully decorated and appointed. The pool area is situated in a garden and is a lovely refuge from the sun and dust of the surrounding area. Breakfast was exceptional, a buffet and a choice of home made muesli, eggs or pancakes with fresh fruit, a welcome relief from the standard Argentinian fare of croissants, bread and cheese. Hands down our best accommodation in 3 weeks in Argentina.
