I stayed two night at Hotell Villa Borgen, perfectly situated in Visby’s historic old town within walking distance of the city walls, shops, cafés, and ferry terminal. My apartment was in a separate building about 200 meters from the main hotel, with no elevator, so be prepared to carry luggage up the stairs if needed. I enjoyed the cozy garden area, reliable free Wi-Fi, and friendly staff who made late check-in easy. For parking, I chose more affordable spots outside the city walls rather than the hotel’s limited SEK 225/day lot, which is worth considering. Overall, a charming historic stay with minor caveats—highly recommended.

Hotel Villa Borgen is a charming small hotel in an ideal location to explore Visby. We booked the Junior Suite, which was clean, spacious, attractive and very comfortable and which featured beautiful views of the rooftops and sea. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options, served in a lovely room. We thought it was a great value for the quality provided.

The bathroom was on a different floor from the rest of the suite. It didn't bother us, but it's something to consider for those with mobility issues. We had come for an overnight stay and only brought a small bag, however, if you have luggage you have to carry it upstairs.

This hotel was just as cute as the photos. The location was fantastic. I loved staying in the old town. Everything was close and walkable so I could pop back to the hotel during the day. The breakfast was also good. There was a communal tea station in the stair house and a kettle and fridge in my room. The staff were friendly and helpful.

My room and the bathroom were very small, which I’ve come to expect in Scandinavia. My room also wasn’t that clean.

The hotel is strategically located in the quaint neighbourhood of Adelsgatan near shops and restaurants in the heart of town, which was also within walking distance to the ruins and key attractions. The breakfast spread was sumptuous - there was such a varied range of cold meats, cheeses, breads, cereal, eggs, etc as well as batter to make our own waffles. Loved our self-catering apartment too! Our two-night stay there far exceeded our expectations.

Our apartment was in the annex, which was about 200m away from the main wing of the hotel. The exterior also looked rather dingy. However, once we entered room 201, we were taken aback by how large, cosily decorated and comfy the apartment was! The only snag was the shower. Being foreigners, we were unaccustomed to how it worked.

Great location in the historical centre. I was in a single room, which was very small, but it's okay for one person. There was everything I needed, the bed was cozy and everything was clean. Breakfast was great, there were a lot of choices, both sweet and savoury. The staff was kind and let me keep the luggage in the hall even after the checkout.

My room lacked a hairdryer, but when I asked, I was given one in a matter of minutes!

The breakfast was very generous and we ate comfortably. The hotel is in a great location, right on the main street, so you can just wander around town every day. It is recommended to book apartment, other rooms are in too poor condition.

I was booking two rooms and on the first day of check-in the two rooms were in different places. Their front desk closes at 4:00 and it was after 4:00 when we arrived. I got the key through the mailbox, and to be honest, we would never have been able to find the other room if we hadn't met one of them that day, who seemed to be from the engineering department. The bathroom in one room had very poor drainage, and the other was an en-suite with no curtains in the bathroom. Since the front desk was closed, we had to wait until the next day as writing emails and making phone calls could not solve the problem that night. Luckily, we were given a large suite the next day, which was in very good condition.

The location is great, right in the center part of the old town and easy to get to via taxi. I thought the ambiance was nice, modern and clean looking. For me, the breakfast was great, there was lots of healthy, fresh options which was perfect to start your day.

So I realize that by staying in the old town, you will be staying in old buildings however, there was no sound proofing that had been done during remodeling and updating the building. I could hear the conversations next door, outside, and upstairs like I was sitting right next to them. This was especially annoying because they people in the room next door woke up at 6:15 every morning and because of the lack of sound proofing so did I. The bathroom was small but that was expected, I was more concerned about the water being so close to the electrical in the bathroom.

The apartment was very spacious and nicely decorated. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was modern. The oven did not work but we were nicely compensated for that. The bathroom could use a renovation but the rest of the rooms were fresh. The breakfast was nice with waffles, fruits, smoothies, and other yummy stuff. We missed cream cheese on the buffet but otherwise, it was excellent. The location was perfect and the parking was nearby which we liked. We would indeed recommend Villa Borgen!

Breakfast was very good. The only problem was when many hotel guests came at the same time for the breakfast, as the breakfast room is not especially spacy.

The noise from the room below the room when I stayed. Howvere, it was only one night and then the noisy people moved away.

The staff was very nice and the breakfast bar was outstanding.

We had a bad smell in our room when we came back after the day out and we had to be moved but there was not a room available for three people in any of the five hotels owned by the same company.
