The buildings are elegant and in a phenomenal location beside a river with rapids. The gardens are gorgeous and the swimming pool is perhaps the most unique I have seen anywhere in the world and that's saying something...The kitchen produces very good quality food so dining there wont disappoint - it may not "wow" you but you will definitely like it.

This hotel, at least when I stayed, was largely/entirely frequented by Camino walkers - in a way charming but clearly it does influence how the owners manage the place - it could be a total wow property but I guess the steady stream of one night stays is a big financial incentive to keep it as it is. While entirely comfortable, it needs a real bar and a larger public area - there are many options to sit outside but when its raining cats and dogs the interior space isn't really fit for purpose....by no means a reason not to stay but it did make me think I wouldn't return - great place but for me it slightly missed the mark....Note to management - consider turning the covered sitting area by the front entrance into an enclosed lounge/bar to create more social space...

I loved this stay while walking the Camino. Slightly out of the way from the trail but the owner nicely called a Taxi for me and I was able to easily start my journey again. The way they’ve incorporated nature into the landscape of the hotel is incredible. Everything was perfect from the room to the service to the delicious breakfast buffet the next morning. It made leaving so hard as I could have stayed much longer! I would love to stay there again and for a longer amount of time!

Every single thing was superb in this hotel. I only wish we had more time to enjoy the beautiful pool and surroundings. We were on the camino and felt like cheats staying the night here but it was just what we needed. A dip in the pool rested our tired and sore legs. The dinner was the best food we have had on the camino. Service was fantastic, nothing was too much and with a smile! Don't think twice, book it, and if you can spend two nights.

The weather, but if they could they would have stopped the rain!

I have never slept so soundly in my life. The white noise of Rio Umia is hypnotic. You just sink into the bed, and never want to leave. Americans were walking around this place shaking their heads at the value of this luxurious old textile facility. We feel lucky to have stayed here supported by such a caring staff. Our waitress at the restaurant introduced us to our new favorite wine. Make sure to take the trail from the hotel downstream to the Roman bridge and beyond. You will want to live here.

Directions to the hotel were vague. TAKE A CAB. It will cost 5 Euro and you will not walk on the highway like we did.

Everything! We were stunned by the beauty of the property as soon as the gates opened. Our corner room was clean and comfortable, with 2 sets French doors that we could open to hear the waterfalls outside. The pool was truly an oasis after a long day on the Camino. Highly recommend!

Not a negative comment, but you must take a taxi from the taxi stand from the town centre to get to the property. The best 5 euros you will spend.

Amazing! Out of this world! Beautiful. Incredible staff. Clean. No strong fragrance anywhere. Wish we could have stayed for another night, but we were walking the Camino. The walk there is along the highway. There is a shoulder, but the cars are moving fast, it's doable just not very pleasant. We walked there and took the taxi back to town the next morning courtesy of the hotel. Good dinner and breakfast.

This small hotel is on some of the most gorgeous landscape, both natural and designed, that I’ve ever seen anywhere! The buildings and ruins and pool and rooms are all beautiful. If you ever have the opportunity, stay here. Preferably for 2 nights!

We loved everything! Just a warning for pilgrims in the Camino. The walk here from Caldas de Reis is not safe. It’s really best to take a cab. Know that cabs are not easily available. It took us 2 hours to get one on a rainy morning.

Two Pelgrims friends arrived to Torre do Rio after a very long walking journey and we found an Oasis of peace and comfort. The Hotel and its gardens are just fabulous. We had drinks by the fire before dinner and had an amazing "secreto Iberico" as a main. the hotel is comfortable and cosy with just 10 or 12 rooms perfect size. Breakfast offers variety and its abundant. You wont regret staying here! Well done team Torre Do Rio

Everything was perfect

Absolutely amazing in every way! The location, the resort, the manicured gardens, the living area and fireplace, beds/linens, large bathroom, and wonderful staff! The list could go on, but after finishing El Camino, it was a haven to rest up. Going to sleep with the sound of the waterfall outside our window was so relaxing. Can't wait to return in the future!

That we eventually had to leave this paradise.

Everything about this hotel is awesome. Five star luxury comparable with the top hotels in the world, but at a fraction of the price. Beautiful building and surroundings, amazing rooms. Location - a short taxi ride from town. Not ideal for exploring things on foot

The restaurant is good but not quite to the exceptional standard of the hotel - 8/10. Breakfast is great though
