Staying at Amulet Hotel was an essential and unforgettable part of our journey. Sleeping in a beautifully converted madrasah, this hotel offers a unique experience that is hard to find elsewhere. The beauty and charm of Amulet Hotel are immediately apparent. The entire team goes above and beyond to make your stay special. The Uzbek breakfast served here deserves a special mention for its exceptional quality and variety. Located just a 10-minute walk from the center of Bukhara, the hotel’s location is as convenient as it is charming. The hotel itself is extraordinary, differing vastly from any other hotel we’ve known. The rooms, arranged around a courtyard in this ancient madrasah, are small but equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The decor is tasteful and adds to the overall experience. The breakfast is spectacular, and the staff's attention to detail is exquisite. It's just a step away from the main square, placing you right in the heart of the city.

This charming boutique hotel is housed in a renovated historical madrasa. The rooms are lovely (well-appointed with local crafts, spacious, with comfy beds). And the breakfast in the patio is great too. As a bonus, the property will served full afternoon tea with snacks for free upon request. I'd stay here again if I ever return to Bukhara! Such a great place!

I loved everything about this place! However, if you're a guest with mobility issues, please request to stay on the first floor, as the stairway to reach the second level is like that in a bell tower (narrow, circular, and without railings).

Great location just steps from the historical pedestrian center of Bukhara. I had been willing to book this on our previous trips, but never could get availability and this time we finally stayed here as many of our friends recommended. The laundry service was very useful for us in the middle of our trip across Uzbekistan with very reasonable prices and quality within the same day. The rooms are big and comfortable with very big bathroom. We had 3 rooms and all were clean and had everything we needed. The inner yard was well kept and comfortable to have breakfast in. Most of the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The choice of breakfast was varied and changed daily.

Despite most of the staff were very welcoming and helpful, only one reception person (Mirhon?) was sort of always upset with our presence or any questions. He checked us in when we arrived late evening and did not bother to offer help with the luggage or else. To make it worse he warned us not to come back later than midnight as he would close the main doors and "will got to sleep" so we would not be able to get back inside the hotel. This sounded very unusual for us. The next days he always seemed rather unhappy of being there. No espresso or cappuccino option for breakfast but only instant coffee that should be improved even if extra charges applied. Despite these minor things we still would recommend to stay here.

What a beautiful B&B! The former madrassa is really well renovated with a fab courtyard. Having breakfast there on the divan is such a highlight for me! Location: 5 min walk from Lyabie Hauz yet away from the tourist crowd. It is easy to find, being next to a main road (cant hear traffic). Staff: friendly and helpful! Other than the main manager, the other staff didnt speak English. Without fail though they were all friendly and wanting to help. The kindness of people in Uzbekistan, not just to tourists but generally, was one of the best memories. Room: I had the single room which was ample enough for one. Only downside was it had only small windows on one side so could get a bit stuffy. Most of the other rooms seem to have windows both facing out and onto courtyard. Breakfast: amazing! And different dishes each day. I would happily stay longer just to eat breakfast and lounge in the courtyard (best done in cool seasons) All in all, a fabulous place to stay in Bukhara. I hope I will get the chance to visit again.

Room was slight stuffy but more than outweighed by all the good stuff!

Truly my favorite hotel ever. A former mosque/madrassa smartly and tastefully converted into a fabulous small hotel, with every amenity you might want in an exquisite setting. Due to my schedule, I stayed in three different rooms, each perfectly decorated in its own way. Superb location, and a breakfast that must be seen to be believed. Plus the absolute best part of this hotel is Akmal, the manager, who went above and beyond in his kind and caring way to help in myriad ways. He is a treasure within a treasure. Thank you for everything, Akmal!

⸻ Staying at Hotel Amulet was an unforgettable experience! This charming boutique hotel, located in a beautifully restored former madrasa, perfectly combines authentic Uzbek atmosphere with comfort and style. The rooms are cozy, clean, and full of character, and the breakfast is always fresh and delicious. What truly makes this place special is the wonderful staff — kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. Their warmth and hospitality make you feel at home from the very first moment. Hotel Amulet is more than just a place to stay — it’s a place you carry in your heart. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the real spirit of Uzbekistan!

I had a great stay here. It’s basically on the doorstep of several monuments like Chor Minor and Lyabi Haus and surroundings. The rest is walking distance as well. I really enjoyed strolling around Bukhara centre from the accommodation but it might not be for everyone. The host is an easy-going friendly man who is happy to accommodate wherever possible. I arrived an hour or so before the check in time but they kindly allowed me to enjoy a coffee in the court yard and prepared my room as quickly as they could. He was always willing to help and communication was always pleasant. I had a single room which was adequate for me. The shower and bathroom were clean and good water. The court yard is a relaxing space where you can enjoy the delicious generous breakfast or a quiet drink. If you want something more unique than a typical hotel, then I highly recommend Amulet.

The following are not complaints but more things to be aware of. The building is old. I believe a converted madrasa and this means tiny door ways, and close neighbours. It’s also in a part of town undergoing renovations and plenty of development. It can be dusty and we were without power for some time. Though neither really inconvenienced me significantly. Maybe just be prepared to consider it to have ‘rustic charm’, which to me, made it all the more interesting and worth staying there.

The hotel, located in the historic part of town near the main road, has an old-school charm that feels like you're sleeping through history. It's very well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The room's decor is lovely, and the staff—especially Mr. Akmal—were incredibly friendly and supportive. He helped us with our luggage, offered us tea, and treated us to some delicious local sweets, which really made our day. The breakfast was thoughtfully planned and varied each day. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. The hotel is within walking distance of the major landmarks, and there’s Amulet restaurant nearby serving excellent, well-priced food, with a 10% discount for hotel guests. Overall, we loved staying here more than at the other two places we visited in Uzbekistan and would definitely recommend it.

It is an experience on itself. It is really a XIX century madrasa, so it is very especial. It is also quite cozy. Breakfast was excellent.

It is true that it is an experience on itself, but also true that due to this fact you might not have all the confort you wish. The tv didn't work in our room, they said someone would fix that up the next day, but it never happened. The first day a cleaning lady entered the room without knocking, the second day no one came so our room was undone. On another note, the guy in the reception made an unsolicited comment on my body that I disliked very much. Still giving it a 9 because the experience was great. But if you are looking for confort, maybe this is not the best alternative.

We liked everything about this property. The location was fantastic - we were able to walk to so many historic sites, restaurants and very safe of course. The building/architecture was beautiful, historic, and very well-maintained. Management was very easy to work with, incredibly helpful and coordinated an amazing private tour with a local tour guide - I highly recommend! Breakfast was fantastic - probably the best we had during our week touring Uzbekistan. Our 2nd floor room was well appointed and comfortable. Great air conditioning. TIP: The stairway to the second floor was not a problem for us, but it is steep. Request a first floor room to avoid the stairs, if needed. Stayed June 17-19, 2024
