The breakfast was hot, filling, and there was a good variety of foods. Our children both enjoyed the breakfast, so it was definitely good. The beds and pillows smell fresh and are extremely comfortable. With the dark blinds closed, the high ceilings, and the a/c on, I could easily (though I did not get the chance) sleep for 24hrs.

I was disappointed to see workers (not working for or with the hotel) and the workers vehicles. The vehicles take up a lot of space in the parking area. It’s just not a good fit together with the atmosphere and overall experience with this hotel.

The Grand is a beautiful hotel run and managed by local Nazarene University. The old Grand hotel was rebuilt and furnished in the early 1900s style and it is on the beautiful town square, which is a rarity in a US city. It is in a fantastic location. During the day the students run the hotel. They were quite qualified, friendly, and knowledgeable. Coffee

Fix the scalding water in the shower in my room! I was told to "turn the shower handle back and forth from hot to cold 8 or 9 times and it would adjust itself." But the next day I had to play with handle and eventually the issue did resolve itself. Then again this morning (several days later) the water was scalding again. So I reported it again. This is my only complaint. The hotel was beautiful, my room (excluding the shower) was well appointed, comfortable, the breakfasts were very good-- and the coffee was EXCELLENT and available all day. I stayed at the Grand for 10 days and the "scalding water issue" happened on about 4 mornings. Otherwise I had an excellent stay and I do recommend this hotel.

We loved the hotel. Check in was easy and the receptionist was very friendly. I loved the hospitality drink center. The lemonade was delicious. Our room was perfect. The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. The shower was amazing and we loved the rosemary mint soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The complimentary breakfast was very good. It had a lot of choices. We ate our breakfast on the beautiful front porch. The entire hotel was beautifully decorated. The location was great and it had free parking. Great stop we will definitely stay there again in the future.

Nothing everything was perfect

Only ate one breakfast but there was a good variety and the attendant was great. That morning was a cheese omelet, empanada, and potatoes and I think a meat? Cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, juices, hard boiled eggs and waffles. Had a king suite that was very nice. Bed was great and lots of pillows. Everything was exceptional, including hot chocolate in lobby! The "gym" was a treadmill and elliptical with weights and weighted balls as well as bands. Sufficient for a workout. Staff were friendly and attentive. Parking was close and easy. Hotel location was perfect.

The sofa was an old fashioned one that looked good for the hotel style but was not comfortable with wood trim. The chair was fine. I did look at a standard room and the sofa in it was a normal one that looked like it would have been more comfortable. The toiletry bottles were hard to squeeze out the products but the actual products were fine - rosemary and mint scented.

My wife and I were taking a leisurely drive across Ohio and looking for a small town and quiet location to spend a little time. Upon a search, the Grand Hotel in Mt. Vernon popped up. This hotel was completely rebuilt from what was the original Curtis Inn that was built in the late 1800s and burned down in the 1940s. We love staying in older, historic hotels but the surprise with the Grand Hotel is it's really neither. The hotel looks and feels old, but it has modern plumbing, elevators, insulation, and windows. The temperature dropped to the single digits on our stay, but the room was toasty warm. The 24-hour coffee and tea service is a nice touch, as is the afternoon/ evening hot chocolate bar. The breakfast is great as they rotate several hot items daily, and always have the yogurt, cereal, breads, etc. Autumn was working when we stayed, and she was delightful to talk with. She gave us great information on the hotel and surrounding areas, as well as a couple of suggestions for dinner. Bill was working maintenance in the evening and took time out of his schedule to talk with us about the hotel history, restaurants, and other related topics. I traveled for many years on business, and it's rare to find a property that you feel comfortable and at home in. We felt appreciated as guests, and it's the personal touch that will bring us back for future stays.

Breakfast was delightful.. alot of choices. Room was very clean, nice, had what we needed for a great night's stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, usually not the case. Staff was very friendly, check in and out times were great, nice to not have to rush out of bed to get checked out Was the best overall hotel stay experience I have had in a long long time! If I could critique anything it would be maybe shampoo, conditioner and body wash inside the shower instead of on the outside sink. I got in and then didn't have it, not realizing it was out there.

What a pleasant surprise! From the time we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to be welcoming and suggest local restaurants and tell us about the area. The breakfast was great- more choices than an average hotel breakfast, and the beds were very comfortable. Really big room, and the hotel felt very fancy for the price point. Great place to stay if visiting Kenyon College

We have never stayed at such beautiful hotel! The Victorian architecture and decor is perfect for such a pretty town. The food was wonderful. The staff was cordial. It was perfect. Our daughter, soon to be married, will be living in Mt Vernon, and we look forward to visiting often in the future. Thank you for a wonderful visit

The hotel has beautiful public areas, the room was very comfortable (best pillows ever experienced in a hotel!), and the complimentary breakfast had excellent variety (chorizo breakfast scramble! Biscuits and gravy! Waffles!)

I thought the room temperature was perfectly comfortable, but my daughter thought it was cold. Also, the Aveda bath products are lovely, but the soap contains an ingredient that makes it feel like you haven't washed it all the way off (something slippery and emollient?), which I didn't like the feel of.

What a lovely building and interior! The entry/lobby area was welcoming with its architecture, layout, and pitchers of ice water and lemonade with flavored syrups available. The room also was beautifully detailed while at the same time, spacious enough and practical. Great location in Mount Vernon as well.
