The staff were very kind and friendly and they could speak English quite fluently. The room was quite old.

The view of Mount Fuji is absolutely breathtaking. We had the view from our balcony. There's also a public bath that is quite fine too.

It is a bit far from everything. It's convenient if you go by car. I'm not sure if it's a good choice if you go by other means of transportation.

Enchanting! The property is nestled in the lush greenery of the mountains, right on the shores of Lake Shoji, with a spectacular view of Mount Fuji… and that alone makes the stay worthwhile. The silence of nature is deeply relaxing and rejuvenating in this place, where one experiences a profound sense of peace. The staff is extremely kind and takes care of you from the very first moment — they welcomed us by waiting outside, then offering us a warm drink and traditional sweets. The building is historic, and the rooms are in traditional Japanese style, which adds even more charm to the experience. Everything is very clean, cozy, comfortable, and quiet. There are shared spaces where you can enjoy a meal or simply relax. I especially enjoyed the ryokan — delightful and very clean. We felt refreshed and pampered, with the gift of waking up admiring the sunrise over Mount Fuji. A truly magical experience! With heartfelt thanks to all the staff, who were incredibly friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

The staff was super friendly and took care of us from start to finish. They were super accommodating and helped us with our car and bags. The hotel was in a great location; but is maybe better accessed by car if you want to go places. There’s a conbini accessible by foot if needed. Mt Fuji was beautiful from our room and the balcony is shared access for a great view too - we took a lot of pictures! Everything was super clean and they even had a table tennis room! The public onsen hours were long into the night for a convenient night use as well.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate us. The view is spectacular and far from the popular places. We chose the traditional japanese room which was beautiful, and the public onsen is tattoo friendly. We loved it!

The only thing is that it seems to be an old property (which also gives it a cool vibe) but some things are less functional. Also (understandibly) there are many insects, but that is fine considering the location.

It’s just way much beyond my expectation! I normally don’t do any reviews, but this hotel definitely deserves to get one. Nestled in a tranquil area nearby Shojiko, as the owner, Mr Kobayashi says, it’s old but clean, it’s small but warm. Anyone would feel so welcomed since the services and the staffs are all nice and kind. The facilities (hot spring, sauna, dining space e.t.c.) are also fantastic, which are obviously renovated but not losing any feeling of Japanese old school fashion. 10/10 recommended to those who wanna enjoy the fascinating views and a good rest!

The Sauna, The Onsen, The view majestic, the hospitality top Notch! FREE (simple) breakfast is awesome. The rooms are spacious and nice. We went kayaking. The bus stops in front of the hotel. Kobayashi is super friendly and hospitable (Owner). The hotel restaurant serves great pizza and pasta, but if you want traditional Japanese food there are nearby restaurants during the day until 17:00ish.

The owner and the staff were so friendly, impressive welcoming us when we arrived and recommended us place to visit near by the area. We enjoyed our Japanese style room and open air Onsen with Mount Fuji view and Shoji Lake. Kayak and camping can be done around hotel areas ,too. There was a rooftop terrace where we could take nice photos and enjoyed the view ! Breakfast can be requested 1 day in advance or when check in . The location is a bit far but still can be accessed by Blue bus. The were few shops and restaurants near by, but close around 18.00-19.00 hrs. We would definitely come back to stay here again!

Just spent three nights at this wonderful hotel. They are so welcoming and gave us such amazing service! The owner was so great and made us feel right at home with tea and treats after a long car ride. One lovely man helped us park and took our bags up the flights of stairs. We found the beds very comfortable and the view from the room, Onsen and roof top are beautiful. The Onsen was a highlight after a long day of exploring, I looked so forward to soaking and it being open all through the night and early morning was great for me because not used to the time change I would soak 3:00 in the morning. Thank you Shoji Lake Hotel for an amazing stay!

I cannot recommend this property more and we will definitely be back! The host is so gracious and kind, greeted us at the door and helped us take photos The rooms are utterly beautiful with traditional tatami mats and a stunning view of Mt Fuji Very modern, specious bathroom with great toilet Private onsen Can hire kayaks on the lake Also close by is the most stunning hike ever There were barely any tourists around and it felt so peaceful and serene.

Not that I didn’t like it, but good to be aware that it is fairly isolated from the main area. There is one restaurant and convenience store within walking distance, which was delicious, but would advise bringing some convenience store meals to reheat as well. The idea transport would be to drive, otherwise there is a bus that drives past 4 times a day.
