The room was large, with a good sized bathroom which is exceptionally clean and modern. The staff from check in to check out were incredibly helpful and friendly and very patient with our lack of Dutch. The restaurant food was excellent, well cooked and well presented and very filling. Also the breakfasts generous. We would recommend to friends and family.

The stairs to the rooms are steep, but a great workout! The other rooms are not as steep only the top two. We were glad to get a room here and its very popular so we think it was the last one available.

I was on a two week cycle tour of the Netherlands and wanted to stay in good value traditional Dutch accommodation. The Gulden Leeuw did not disappoint. Beautiful location in the centre of town surrounded by historic buildings and close to a harbour and canal network. Comfortable and quiet room, compact bathroom with a good shower and a radiator to dry my cycle clothes . Good Wi-Fi throughout. A lovely restaurant attached where I had a substantial evening meal ( paid separately) as well as my breakfast which came within the price. There was secure parking for my cycle ina nearby garage owned by the hotel.All the staff were friendly and hospitable. I thoroughly recommend an overnight stay at this hotel and the beautiful town of Workum. Very good value compared to some hotels I had stayed in on my cycle tour.

plenty of stairs to get to my room, but this is a historic building so I would expect nothing less and it didn’t detract from my overall impression of the hotel.

The location is in the center of town, near historic buildings and has a nice bar/restaurant downstairs. Breakfast was good and the staff was very welcoming and helpful.

The train station is a bit outside the center and a walk is only fine when the weather is good.

Very nice place with good food. Breakfast was ordered in the evening and served individually at the table. Great idea. Location right next to the market place made it so easy to see the town.

This is a beautiful old house so unfortunately the stairs are very steep and there is no elevator.

We were staying there as sailors for the Dutch Youth Regatta. The fact that they go an extra mile and not only supply a breakfast but also help in preparing a lunch sandwich package for on the water is simply awesome. Very friendly staff and great restaurant.

All was great! Some room to hang your wet wetsuits for example would have been nice, but we managed. Our room need a small flight of stairs to climb which was not ideal but again we managed fine.

Perfect for our needs. Friendly and helpful staff. We liked the authenticity of the place in a lovely charming small town.

Very located in the center of the village, on the market street. You can walk and see all the traditional boats.

You had to book everything you wanted for breakfast the night before. This didn't feel very "generous".

You could also reserve the room with half pension, which is a nice option to consider. The food was good and the breakfast was nice. So, I would stay here again if I travel through.
