I had one of my best stays in Japan at Hayama Umino Hotel and would definitely come back again! Great location, about 25 minutes walk from the station (or you can take a bus, the stop is right in front of the hotel). Close to beaches and many nice restaurants. Beautiful ocean view from the lobby and an amazing onsen with ocean views as well. Staffs are Very polite, kind, and friendly. They also speak English, which made everything easy. You can preselect your breakfast menu the day before and highly recommended.Everything you need is provided (toothbrush, comb, amenities, etc.) and the hotel has free Wi-Fi.

If you stay in the bunk bed area, it can get a bit busy between 11 am and 4 pm (the cleaning hours between check-out and check-in). Other than that, everything was perfect.

The Hayama Umino Hotel is the best place I’ve ever stayed in. The capsules are very comfortable. The hotel is so beautiful, clean, aesthetically pleasing and has an onsen on the top floor providing breathtaking views of the ocean. Umino also has free bikes to discover the endless array of beaches. Also, the staff are so warm, professional, and kind. The restaurant creates exceptional dishes at a reasonable price. If you want a relaxing break from Tokyo then this must be the place to stay. You won’t regret it! ~worth every penny. I can’t wait to come back; I love the Umino

The place is beautiful, the lobby and common areas are very nicely decorated, the place is comfortable and the staff is so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are beautiful with a view and they have all the products you need to get your shower and pamper yourself. Location is good because it is a bus stop right outside. For breakfast they accommodated to my special request being vegan, the food was delicious and specially prepared for me!

The bathrooms have specific schedules so it can be annoying that you might not be able to get a shower at 11am, because they might be cleaning.

Bike rental, the view, the lobby overlooking the sea

I wish there had been mugs in the room, there was a kettle but no mugs for tea. On Sunday evening there was a dance performance in the lobby, we were sweaty after our cycle but we had to cross through the performance to get to the elevator, that was quite stressful. The sento closes for cleaning at 10am so you have to get up early to have both breakfast and morning shower, if I am on holiday, i dont want to be awake before 8!

A brilliant place, and really liked the dorm/bunk rooms for a unique experience! The staff were so nice, great food, and brilliant facilities. The area is very unique, quiet and not very touristy. I loved it! Excellent working spaces and some lovely local restaurants.

The only thing that caught me out are the only showers are those in the onsen (which closes between 10:00-13:00). But a minor issue really once you know.

I stayed in the bunk room. It far exceeded my expectations! Impeccably clean, the bunks are built with the utmost of privacy in mind and are quite large, and the other facilities (lounge, breakfast, onsen) make it an incredible value. Further, the staff was so helpful to me when I lost my wallet right before I checked out, speaking with a Japanese speaking friend of mine (found it later in my backpack). Thank you to all at the Umino! I’ll definitely return!

Breakfast was excellent, having the option to choose from four mains, plus the salad buffet was very nice. The facilities were very welcoming and had a nice clean, classy beach vibe that I really liked.

The rooms were pretty small, which is standard in Japan so not surprising but still, should be mentioned. It would have been nice to have a shower in each room, but as it is, the public bath upstairs on the 6th floor is the only place to shower/bathe.

Great location, near the beach and convenient stores. Onsen on the 6th floor overlooked the beach and you could see Mt. Fuji in the distance. It was very hot which I like and was very clean. Staff spoke English and were very nice and friendly. Both breakfast and dinner were very good. Very reasonably priced as well. I stayed in a bunk room but they offer western style rooms as well. When I stayed they had live music in the lobby which was a nice touch for dinner.

The hotel lobby was beautiful and inviting, with amazing views of the sea! The staff was also fantastic and they were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The onsen was also an amazing experience and you could also see the sea from the baths. We loved it here!

There wasn't really anything to dislike honestly! Next time I'd love to try one of the hotel rooms, we stayed in the bunks this time which was also nice though!

The best vacation hotel I've ever been to! Great views opens out to the seaside from the modern, stylish, bench style lobby~ super nice staff, great food! Mysterious and interesting bunk room which gives you enough space, privacy, quiteness, feel like hiding under the sea with fishes swiming around you~ amazing! Silly definitely go again ❤🌸💕
