We loved this hostel! The location is 6 minutes walk from the train station, very close to the beach and to the main shopping street and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu temple. We had a twin room with bunk beds and a private bathroom. The bunks were a good size and each had a light, usb charging port and two plug sockets as well as a lockable storage box. The room was clean, air con worked well and we were provided with a dehumidifier. There was a rail for hanging clothes on, and 3 stools. We had free toiletries in the shower (which smelled amazing) as well as a sink in the room with a full length mirror, hairdryer, a fridge, a kettle and even a clothes airer. We made use of the laundry room which was great value (300 yen to wash and 100 to dry clothes). There are a couple of roof terraces you can use to relax and also a restaurant downstairs (we didn’t use). Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. This hostel was really good value for money in Japan.
The mattresses are very firm which we found a little bit uncomfortable. There was no drinking water provided - you can drink the tap water but it tastes quite chlorinated so we would’ve appreciated filtered water being available.

What a find!!! We booked the private room with a bathroom and a bunk bed. Coming from Tokyo, we were blown away by the quality of the room especially for the price we paid. It felt roomy for the both of us and bathroom was sparkling clean which added to our comfort. Bunk beds were very spacious and the little details that the room had - a privacy blind for each bed to block out light, the charging station by each bed, the reading lamp, lock box - were such a nice touch. The decor was minimal but perfect - loved the wooden accents. Common facilities like the rooftop, kitchen and laundry are also a great addition to the space. And we loved how close it was to the beach, train station and local coffee spots/restaurants.
The room was generally clean but was dusty. We found a huge amount of dust underneath the bed and near the reading lamp on the beds. If you are allergic to dust or an asthmatic, I wouldn't recommend this space.

Our experience at Plat Hostel Kamakura was overall very positive. The location is excellent, just a short walk from a shop where you can rent bicycles, and although it’s a bit far from the sea, it’s still very convenient thanks to its proximity to the city center. Getting there by train is also easy, as the hostel is less than a 10-minute walk from the station. Our room was spacious, with a large, very comfortable bed. The shower was big and pleasant, although the sink was located outside, integrated into the room. We loved the décor — fresh and modern, with a nice touch of traditional style. The staff was incredibly friendly, allowing us to leave our luggage until our return and even bringing it to our room. A highlight is the rooftop, where you can enjoy dinner with a nighttime view of the city or have a barbecue. The price was also very reasonable.
On the downside, we regret not staying longer to try the hostel’s kitchen, which looked very inviting.

A very nice hostel and we had our own small bathroom. It's a bit strange being in a hotel room with people hanging out in the common kitchen to get space away from their shared bedrooms, but that's fine. Staff for the most part was friendly, and the common area near the reception was lively. Wifi worked well for meetings. Walking distance to basically everything near the train station in Kamakura which is awesome.
Especially in the mornings staff at the front reception are hard to access. A person has to pick up their reception phone and call them, but with the lack of English, a person basically just needs them to come to the front desk, not explain what they need over the phone.

Close to the station, friendly receptionist.
A bit disappointed. This was my first hostel in Japan (stayed in hotels as well, but traveled to many hostels worldwide before). I was hoping for a social vibe. Didn't really find that, maybe just bad luck or common in Japan, where people are not so social towards strangers? The bed was not so good: super thin mattress and the blanket/duvet was really short, about 1.70, definitely too short for tall Europeans. I didn't sleep well because of this... Too bad. Two of the sinks did not drain well (very uncommon in Japan, where everything seems to be working perfectly all the time). All in all, small things that made my stay not the way I expected it to be.

We stayed for one night in January 2024 to meet up with friends and do some hiking. We stayed in a private room with a double bed and private washroom. The bed was firm but comfortable. There is space under the bed for large items like suitcases. The private washroom supplied shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body and face towels, and toothbrushes, with other amenities available for a small fee. The toilet is a Japanese style washlet. The room had a large chair, rack with coat hangers, slippers, and a clothes drying rack for towels. Under the sink there was a small fridge, a kettle, and two glass mugs. In the 3rd-floor kitchen they offer free instant coffee and green tea, as well as a large shared fridge, microwave, toaster oven, and various cookware. It’s very close by to grocery stores and a cheap supermarket with evening discounts on prepared food. After 11PM the front entrance is closed, you enter via a code given at check-in, the door is very heavy so pull hard! They have other services we didn’t use like an outdoor terrace (open 8AM-9PM), laundry (washing 300円, drying 100円/30min), outdoor shower, rooftop view, smoking area, and a restaurant. Overall it seems like a really convenient place to stay, especially in the summer if you come for the beach.
The duvet is quite light for the winter. We were cold at night even with the heater on. I wish the hostel supplied some warm blankets. The blinds do not block the light from the street, so I recommend wearing an eye mask. It's also quite noisy at night and early in the morning.

The location is about 5-10 minutes from JR Kamakura station, it’s convenient and one of the nearest when I did my research. There are convenient stores nearby or you can easily order food from the bistro if you dont feel like going out (there’s halal/vegan menu options too). The rooms are very clean and the staffs were all nice 😊 We arrived early and stored our luggage at the reception. When we came back to check in, our stuffs were already in the room. Loved the hospitality.
- Slightly smaller than expected - Late check in time

Customer Service - they spoke English very well, and I was able to leave my luggage before checking in and after checking out for a few hours. They are both approachable. Location: 10-15mins away from the Kamakura Station, and Komachi-dori street and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Towel (mini and big) and toothbrush is included. Blowdryer is available in the changing room. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is present in the shower area. Locker/luggage area is enough for one medium-sized luggage. You can put your bagpack/handbag at the top level of the desk, and shoes in the second layer. Inside the capsule, there is a small locker with key where you can place your important items inside; a small lamp; three plugs; one pillow; two hangers.
I can't stand the smell present in the mixed dormitory and changing rooms. I hope a deodorizer is present. The public spaces are cold and no heater is present.

great location close to the train station (7minutes walk), and to very tasty restaurants, sushis to go, kombinis etc. also 30 minutes walk from the Hase Dera temples, bamboo temple too. nice employees who seek English very well, calm hostel (at least at the end of September), well equipped (washing machines, dryers, kitchen). best price in Kamakura (but still too expensive)
small double bedroom, with extra small bathroom. Also, the bedroom was not enough equipped especially around the bed (the one sleeping against the wall cannot put his glasses, book, water, close by). no curtain so you wake up with the sunlight at 5am.

The compact and comfortable room I stay was like perfect for solo (and probably couple) travelers. Room has everything I need and the shared lounge and balcony was comfy. Their interior was in the simple and cozy style (and I love it); staff was friendly and check out was convenient; location was pretty close to Kamakura station, and there were like tons of shops and restaurants around and even a supermarket. Definitely would like to stay there again.
Only really minor ones (e.g. no tables in room beside hand wash basin countertop; microwave was in shared lounge in 1st floor)
