The food was wonderful! Much more than we could eat and the staff was so friendly. We enjoyed visiting with the staff and felt very at home. We would love to return someday.
Everyone should know they are visiting a rustic location so they have proper expectations. These are older cabins not a luxury hotel. When you go with that understanding you will have a wonderful time. The staff will do what they can to provide you with any needed items. When we arrived it was 19 degrees and the heater in the cabin had not been turned on. That first night was very cold! The next morning we told the staff and the gentleman went and bought a space heater for our room. After that we were very comfortable. We really enjoyed our time at the cabin.

We love Mountain View! We've stayed there 3 times and the staff is wonderful. The location is a perfect jumping off spot for exploring far west Texas. The conveniences of town are just a mile down the road. Marfa and Alpine are only a half hour away. Breakfast isn't free, but is delicious! The mini fridge in the cabin was large enough for our cold foods, and there was a coffee pot and a microwave. The cabin heater kept the place as warm as we needed (and it was COLD outside). And the beds were clean and comfortable.
Nothing. We loved it all and have already booked our next stay.

Location is convenient to Ft. Davis. Our cabin was very clean. Breakfast and coffee were available on site, which was nice since there aren't many options nearby.
Breakfast was convenient but pricey. Portions weren't very big and it was more expensive than we expected ($50 for 2 adults and 2 kids). There weren't many other options nearby. The kitchen and bathroom areas shared a very small sink. It was difficult to wash dishes as it was a bathroom style sink in the kitchen area. The beds were small (full size beds) and the walls were so thin we could hear our neighbors talking through them. A better option would be to book a larger full cabin.

This rustic inn just outside of Ft. Davis, served breakfast and lunch in their little cafe. They had a variety of plates to choose from, and some a la carte items. The portions were hearty and delicious; cooked to order. The lunch also had a few dishes offered. Very large portions. The BLT was exceptional, just loaded with smokey bacon. And, they made box lunches so you could order your meal and they would box it up so you could eat later. We ordered from the lunch menu, while we were still at breakfast. They boxed it up and we put it in the refrigerator in our cabin. When we came back from the observatory in the late afternoon, we had our delicious meal. Their chicken salad was fantastic, fresh made with pecans and grapes and lots of chicken! The inn is also part of Mobile Comunidad, which is an outreach program for the county. The program provides food for school children and meals for seniors, along with many other services. The work that these employees of the Mountain View Lodge do is just fantastic.
We really like this place. There wasn't anything we didn't like!!! They didn't serve dinner when we were there, but found out that the cafe was expanding their hours and will begin to stay open on Friday and Saturday night for dinner.

These are rustic tiny cabins. The rooms are back to back, creating the duplex. The bathroom is tiny but functional. The porch with seats was great to sit out on to unwind. Watching the cows in the morning was nice! Having a restaurant on site was a nice touch to be able eat a good breakfast in the morning. The food was delicious. They now serve dinner on Fri and Sat, but we didn’t have the opportunity to try dinner.
Our unit had two big fire Ant holes right where we needed to park. The mattress and pillows were firm. But the sheets and towels were very clean! There is no TV in the rooms to allow you to relax and enjoy the quiet. Be sure you have a good book or some headphones.

Overall it was a pleasant visit. The beds were very comfortable.. Daughter wants to know where you purchased your pillows! LOL! Good night sleep. It was also nice to have the huge lighted star... we were coming back late from a Star Party at McDonald's and it made it very easy to locate the property.
The only reason I did not give all smiley faces was that the floor was very dirty... not just from the dust and dirt from outside, but food was under the table. You could not walk barefoot without getting your feet dirty... If our towels were "dirtier than you like" it was because we discovered the nasty floors and had to wash and dry our feet off before putting on shoes or getting into bed. There was also a small ant problem on the cabinet in "kitchen" area.... a few were also in the bathroom... again, all these might be due to the extreme dry temps and all the dirt that was kicking up in the slightest breeze... but did mainly want to mention the situation with the floors... Thank you.

The cabins were comfortable and clean. We were very warm. Loved having the coffee and coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. The Cafe was so nice to have on site and delicious. We enjoyed the pavilion and the grill was very clean. Staff was very nice and responsive to requests. The location was convenient to town as well as Marfa and Alpine. The views were amazing.
The bathroom was very small but totally manageable.

It was quiet in a rustic setting with lovely scenery. We enjoyed the cafe the next morning, where we had a good breakfast and got boxed lunches to take with us on the road too.
As indicated, the bathroom is very small, though for us it was fine. The water was hot. I could occasionally hear the occupants on the other side of the wall. I also wouldn’t recommend arriving in the dark as it’s hard to see the cabin numbers, though on the other side the dark makes it great for stargazing.

Clean, simple accomodations. Loved the location, felt very remote, but just off the highway. Couple hours drive from Big Bend NP Check in/check out was simple
My only negatives are personal preferences. The shower was short and small. My (5'4') body fit ok, but my 2 travel companions (5'7" & 5'8") didn't fit under the shower head and had more maneuvering to do. The showerhead was removable as a handheld, but the space was small so it was a challenge. I don't sleep well on foam mattresses so the bed was not my favorite. Other than that, it was great.

The room was clean. The AC/heat unit worked very well ,it ran quietly. We were comfortable. We only had breakfast at the restaurant and it was good and served hot . They were having lasagna as a special that evening ,we were sad to miss it . The price was very good . We will stay there again when we are in Ft.Davis. Thank you
The handrails were dry. I am on a walker and had to be careful using them .
