The breakfast was very good and offered a wide variety. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant's food was excellent. It was great to sit on the terrace in the morning sun and have a drink and watch the world go by.

A handrail to help get down the downstairs from the first floor to the ground floor would be very much appreciated, although there was a lift you could use.

The hotel is situated a little out of city centre however that should not deter you as it is close to nature. It has an excellent parking facility and friendly staff. As dining options are not abundant in Orbe the hotel actually has the best restaurant in town. It is creative and goes beyond hamburgers. They serve some nice wine too. As to the room it was as I expected. Somewhat small but who needs more than a bed and a good shower after a long day of hiking. The breakfast was ample. I know there is a little bakery a bit further down the street but from all I could tell the croissants and all other nice bread and pastry might have come from there.

Location was good. There was a locked cabinet in the room that was big enough for a laptop bag. Coffee/tea was available 24/7. wifi was good. Cost was reasonable.

The room had a musty smell for the first few days. It improved over the week. Housekeeping did not show up on the 2nd day there - no explanation provided. Check-in was by remote video - there was an audio issue with the system that delayed the check-in process. Hotel restaurant was closed.

The on-site restaurant was good. The staff were efficient. When I contacted the hotel after departure pointing out that they still had a security deposit of mine 'pending' on my credit card, they were quick to rectify the error and release the funds. We enjoyed the breakfast and our dinner in the restaurant.

We were walking the Via Francigena and this hotel was quite a distance from the path and the centre of town, making the walk quite boring. While the hotel generally is reasonably cheery, our room was rather stark and basic given the considerable price we were paying.
