The location was great, right in the heart of historic Berleburg, on the Goetheplatz with its beautiful slate facades, on a hill with great views over the city and the surrounding mountains and in spitting distance of the castle and the Schlosspark. A nice Greek restaurant with outside seating is just opposite. We were in the new part of the hotel, the 'Fliegende Klassenzimmer' (after one of my favourite children's books by Erich Kästner), on the lower level. This wasn't as quirky as the 'Alte Schule', the older part, but had a little sitting area outside overlooking the park below, with afternoon and evening sun, which was lovely. Breakfast was excellent, in a beautiful light-filled room in the 'Alte Schule' with amazing views. The different parts of the hotel are all lovingly restored, with every room in the old part, the 'Alte Schule', looking different. But the very best feature was the amazingly friendly and helpful staff who all made us feel very welcome.

Can't think of anything. Perhaps some proper shampoo instead of the shampoo-plus-body-wash would have been nice, but it's not a big deal. And people with mobility problems need to be aware that not all rooms are accessible without climbing stairs, but fortunately this wasn't a problem for us.

Great location in the town on a small beautiful square near the old Schloss. We were in the annex across the small road which is not historic. From the room you have good views and a balcony overseeing the Schlossgarten. Although the restaurant in the hotel is closed ( only serving a very good breakfast) there are a good Greek and a Chinese restaurant next door with nice terraces. Kaffee und Kuchen are at 5-7 mins walk and an icecream cafe that stays open until approx 20.00h. Very good starting point for beautiful hiking. Sufficient easy parking.

Annex Room was not very large with lights too bright. But a very good mattress, good shower. So overall a good deal but no historic feel and a bit white, modern although some Keith Haring on the wall. (We had the 'art' classroom).

The hotel consists of multiple buildings, I was in the 'Fliegende Klassenzimmer' building. The room was quite large, besides the double bed there is also a desk and a full couch in there with room to spare. There also was a small balcony with a table and chairs so sit in the sun. The breakfast buffet was excellent, really extensive selection. The location is beautiful, it is located in a low traffic area at a square with a monument and some water features. On the square there are also two restaurants and a cafe, which is very convenient.

The TV is one of the simple 'smart' ones, which is quite slow in changing channels, and doesn't remember the volume setting when turning it on again.

This place is ideal for a family getaway. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests are treated with trust and care. The breakfast is delicious and varied. The interior and exterior are beautifully designed, adding charm to the experience. It truly feels like a home away from home, with a cozy and authentic family vibe. Highly recommended!

Great Hotel in the middle of the old part of town. Use to be a school house and was remoldeled inside. Very clean rooms. Personnel were very friendly and helpful. They also have a restaurant with very good food. The breakfast is also great with a view of the town. Even the hotel owner came to every ones table to talk to the customers that were there in the restaurant a very nice touch. Can say only good things about this hotel and me and my wife will return

Nice and quiet. Breakfast was great with vegetarian options.

It would have been nice to know that the room was in a separate building from the breakfast building and the reception building.

very clean, renovated nicely and in a great location

The only aspect of the stay that wasn’t perfect was the breakfast. Had to ask to refill scrambled eggs twice as nothing there when I went to help myself. They also didn’t replenish cold meat platter without me asking. Choice was good but maybe there need be more people serving, i.e. looking after buffet. Only two members of staff serving and overlooking buffet.

Lovely location. Nice well designed room and great breakfast.

Attention to detail. No toiletries in the bathroom or soap in the dispenser in the shower. The TV only worked intermittently.

Great place, nice rooms and good restaurant. Manager was very nice, the young European waitress and waiter were very good, we had a lot of good fun with them. Lovely welcoming people😊👍
