Very friendly staff, some of them could speak English well, the room was spacious and had a very good view of the mountains, futon was comfortable to sleep in, appreciated that they topped up the water in the kettle, the onsen was delightful, the snacks were delicious, amenities provided were good quality, location was up on the steep hill but the bus stop is maybe about 100 meters away. Overall, it was worth it and a delight to stay in.

The steep but short hill climb to get to the hotel from the bus stop. Also, the hotel is not located near any convenience stores and many of the restaurants/cafes at Ikaho Onsen close early. So it is recommended to book room plan with meals included. However, be sure to check with the hotel whether they cater to allergies because it was mentioned on their website that they do not cater to allergies.

the balcony onsen its the highlight but the room is good and the gift shop is really good. they have a displays for the animes that have connections to this site including inishl d and yama no susume and sell some merchandise for the onsen susume girls. the staff had good English and were accommodating to us keeping our bags there earlier than 3pm.

the room on the back didn't have the best view and it didn't have anime and the tv but that's a personal problem not something you'd expect.

The food was absolutely amazing both for diner and breakfast, the baths were super clean and the view from the roof…beautiful! The room as spacious and comfortable. Also, I want to thank everyone at the hotel, they are the sweetest persons! Thank you for making my stay an unforgettable memory!

The lady we encountered at check in was absolutely first rate & amazing to watch work... she basically had a phone in one hand, was greeting with body language & directing traffic with another hand..Could not rave about this women enough even had to offer her a job. The hotel is high up built on a ridge & commands great views. Make sure you stop at the 'farmers' supermarket at bottom of hill before you go upas not a great deal around the area. We were supplied a carpark & it was free. The hotel room was Tatami style good size with a seating area by the window, sep wc & a bathroom. Then it has two onsen areas, the first is general public bath large & relaxing then of course for those instagrammers that roof top onsen/spa area with a great view. Really enjoyed this stay & will return again There is a temple & very nice golf course nearby.

The food was great, the service exceptional. The private onsen is paid separately, it is pretty small and the water was not that warm, but it was enjoyable. It was a great experience for me and my wife.

The only downside is that they take you futon early in the morning, so if you want to rest after breakfast there won't be anywhere to lay down.

Outdoor hotspring bath war wonderful. Staff was very friendly.

1. There were not enough electrical outlets in the room. 2. It would have been nice if the big bath had written information about the benefits of the hotsprings. 3. When we arrived the hotel, lobby was dark, not light. It maybe better the bright lobby for the first time guest even if before check in time.

- Outdoor and Indoor onsens were great - Staff were great, very respectful and even would help you to valet your cars - Room was very comfortable

- No laundry services, so you need to find alternatives if staying longer - Toilet is sort of “outside” of the room, so it can get very cold in the winter - A lot of their facilities cost extra money

Mimatsukan Ikaho is an excellent hotel which provides all the necessary amenities and facilities associated with an excellent hotel. The private rooftop onsen was stunning and it had an amazing view of the snow called mountains in the winter time. The room was super clean and the staff were just absolutely delightful. They left the heater switched on for us when we entered the room which was a really lovely gesture. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Ikaho. The location is superb and it is near the top of the Ikaho Stone Steps! Food options are available but go before 6pm as the restaurants close very early.

Everything was superb!

Perfect place but they have a limited check-in time (only 3pm to 7pm), the place has 6 floors but it is kind of older Japanese couple managing the place so I get it. We arrived at 10:30pm, there was an emergency phone on the front desk and she came down, apologetic and allowed us into our room. So, check-in (even phone calls) after 7pm is an issue, but they are absolutely accommodating and kind. Best to plan arrival earlier than we did.

We were extremely grateful to the staff for assisting us with a unique scenario. They were so kind and accommodating. I wasn't sure we would be able to use an onsen during our stay in Japan, but they made it happen!
