Experiencing what Hotel 1851 has to offer was a highlight of our 35 day adventure in Europe. From the moment we arrived at this hotel we knew we were going yo have a wonderful experience. It started with the helpful emails in advance of our arrival and continued with a number of special touches that included an envelope with our room key beside an inviting bowl of peppermints and an offer to store our bikes in the front hallway. Once in our room, the special touches continued with fresh flowers in the bathroom, delicious chocolates om our bed and a pleasing decor. Breakfast the following morning was a very special experience. Host Rene arrived at our door at precisely the time we requested with a huge wooden board filled with a broad assortment of breakfast treats. It took our breath away and our taste buds were delighted. On a closing note, I must add that the little village of Wijk bij Duurstede also offers many charms including a wide variety of restaurants and delightful shops as well as an ancient castle and a windmill that you can drive or cycle through, which we understand is a one of a kind experience.

We experienced wet and chilly weather during our visit which was regrettable, however it did not spoil our experience of this truly remarkable village and hotel.

We have been very pleased with the entire experience. Our positive interactions began before our arrival, when we had several requests due to flight schedules and meetings. Rene responded promptly and positively to all of our requests. The room was charming, spotless, and had a cute little rooftop terrace! The bathrooms had fresh flowers and we had little chocolate bonbons as a welcome gift. There was a coffee machine with ready capsules, and everything necessary to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The location was also perfect. There was no problem with parking and because it was right on the corner of the center, we were able to have a nice walk through the town in the evening. I travel frequently and this stay was definitely one of the most enjoyable. Rene's professionalism exceeded my expectations, as he helped us resolve the breakfast issue. I will definitely return and will recommend the establishment to others.

There is nothing that I didn't like .

It was very well located. Check in was so easy and the owners clearly communicated everything in advance. The breakfast was fantastic and the beds were comfortable. Lovely coffee machine too!

The bathroom layout was a bit uncomfortable with no door at the toilet for privacy. Especially traveling with a work colleague that fortunately is also a good friend. So we could manage but for some people this might be too open. The aircon units of the other rooms that are on the roof made a humming noise during the night that will disturb a light sleeper.

The self-check in went well; the emailed instructions were easy to follow. The room was reasonably sized and very comfortable. The breakfast, although not a buffet, was delivered to my room at the requested time and was good and satisfying. The one staff member I met was very friendly and helpful.

I generally prefer a buffet for breakfast, although as I noted the delivered breakfast was good.

Beautiful small hotel in a beautiful small village nestled in the Dutch countryside. Friendly owners went above and beyond - the breakfast included was an absolute delight which even my 15 year old loved.

The only problem with our otherwise comfortable room was the open plan toilet/shower en-suite - definitely not enough privacy for a mother-and-son!

loved the room, it had a great view, good size comfortable bed, the bathroom was beautiful with an amazing spa bath and great toiletries. the breakfast the next morning was excellent, great selection and served at our table. would definitely stay again if in the area. also we were cycle touring and the bikes were locked safely at a nearby bike shop. all the staff pleasant and helpful.

only down side was toilet not seperate to the bedroom area felt a bit open plan. but wouldnt stop me staying again.

The owner was very gracious and accommodating. Breakfast was served on time every morning. Fresh and delicious!

Clean, spacious, kind staff, excellent location, comfortable bed, and all of the amenities that you would want from a stay! - I would recommend this place to anyone and happily stay again!

There is no door dividing the bathroom so if you are sharing a room with someone and they decide to use the toilet.. it can be unpleasant.

Easy access to hotel. Central location for the town. Room very comfortable with good size bed. Breakfast delivered to our room and was delicious. Very helpful and friendly owner.

Open plan bedrooom and bathroom was unusual for us!

Good location clean and comfortable . Excellent breakfast fresh produce delivered to your room . Great price. Friendly host . Will stay again

No basin by the toilet. Bottled water would be nice touch .
