We stayed in a Private Room at this hostel for a week, and overall had a very positive experience. We were traveling with our cat, so finding a pet-friendly place was a top priority for us — and this hostel gets a big plus for that. One of the first things we appreciated was how clean everything was — both in our room and in the shared spaces. There’s a designated area at the entrance where guests are asked to remove their shoes or carry them in — a smart practice that helps maintain cleanliness. Every morning, I saw freshly mopped floors and an immaculately clean kitchen, which truly impressed me. Speaking of the kitchen, it was one of the best-equipped hostel kitchens I’ve ever seen. I brought some basic utensils for the trip but ended up not needing them at all. There were plenty of clean, good-quality dishes and cookware available. Each morning, there was also free coffee and freshly baked homemade muffins — such a lovely touch! There’s a shared fridge available for guest use, but note that there’s no fridge in the room, and eating in rooms is not allowed — something to keep in mind. I also really liked the common room near the kitchen — cozy sofas, benches, and a big wooden table. It’s a great space to meet fellow travelers and have interesting conversations. One of the biggest advantages for me was the quiet atmosphere. The hostel has quiet hours, and everyone respected them. Honestly, it sometimes felt like I was the only one making any noise 😅 — it was very peaceful and relaxing. There’s a secure bike storage area, which I didn’t use, but it looked spacious and safe. As for parking, the hostel has two lots — one right in front with about 5–6 spots and another around the side with several more. We had no issues finding a place to park. Late check-in was no problem either.

In general, we really enjoyed staying here. The only reason I’m not giving it a perfect score is because — after all — it’s still a hostel, not a hotel. While it's often enjoyable to connect with new people, sometimes the lack of complete privacy can be slightly uncomfortable. Even though we stayed in a private room, it was located right next to the kitchen and common room, so we could hear other guests — and probably they could hear us too. It made it harder to fully relax. But that’s just the nature of hostels, and we understood that going in. So this isn’t a complaint — just something to note for anyone expecting a hotel-like level of privacy. Overall, it was a great experience and we’re glad we chose this place.

Everyone, staff and guests alike, were friendly and welcoming. Facilities were clean and well kept. Close to downtown and waterfront park and marina. The suite was large and clean, very accessible it would seem for anyone with a disability although the door to the room wouldn't be automatically opened. My dog and I were happy to call it home for the night. I loved that really good earplugs were given with the room.AC in the room was great. Interesting to have the bar available.

The main area w asn't air conditioned that I could tell and its right outside the door of the Suite so noise filtered in before the Quiet time but it was fine, just general conversation not loud music or TV.

I could not hear the instructions for keypad numbers. Although there were instructions left at front desk, I had some trouble entering front door as the recorded message was a little garbled. It would have been nice if the instructions were emailed as I was later than the stated check in time so there was a bit of stress related to getting in to the hostel. I had requested for more info about ev charging but only received confirmation that could be accommodated.Now I know it is an outdoor plug beside the entrance/motorcycle parking.

The room is nice, and it's convenient to have the shower in the room. Easy check-in and check-out. The place is clean and nice with amenities for guests. We appreciated the complimentary coffee and muffin in the morning. We only stayed one night so we didn't spend much time in the hostel, but the communal spaces looked very welcoming and well-organized.

Minor comment - the light in the bathroom is activated by a motion sensor, so it goes off while you're taking a shower.

Very comfortable, clean, friendly hostel with many little extras that make your stay great. We're not young but we were looking for a clean comfortable room on our travels east without paying too much. They stored our bikes in the garage which was great because the immediate area seems a little sketchy but this hostel is truly a haven We stayed here 3 years ago too. We Would recommend to any traveller as a great place to stay.

Very cool unique decor, lots of custom rustic woodworking and tables. My 4 bed female dorm had a fan, light shelf and charging outlets plus curtains to close so the light wouldn’t disturb my roommates. Security codes for outer door and my dorm, good kitchen and refrigerator plus they stored my blue ice in their freezer for me to pick up the day I left. Friendly, helpful staff that actually sat and visited with me while I had dinner so I wouldn’t be on my own. Good suggestions for groceries and restaurants.

Nada, great place!

After a few of hostels in Canada I can say the Haven Hostel is a very warm place to stay. Everybody was giving me a feeling to be very welcome. The staff member always tried to address us by our first names and took care of your feelings. The manager helped me with a free lift to the airport and monument. The housekeeping crew did the best and took care that our rooms had a good temperature by the heat. It was the best stay so far in my whole year in Canada.

I arrived after midnight to stay at The Haven Hostel. The staff members were excellent and thoroughly cooperated at each and every stage to arrange my late check in prior to my arrival. They left an envelope with my name and all relevant check in instructions in detail inside the envelope. Facilities were extremely neat and clean and well maintained

The front desk gal was awesome, made us feel right at home! Super friendly and welcoming to our furry friend as well. The room was spotless and the sheets smelt nice and clean! The bed was super comfy and soft. Love the offering of shampoo, conditioning and body wash in the washroom. The lobby area and shared accommodations were great as well! Everything was so clean and organized. We had a private queen room with private washroom and it was honestly better than some hotels we have stayed at. So cozy and had everything we needed.

Wouldn't change a thing, everything was great!

It was clean, with thoughtful touches everywhere. I checked in late, the staff called for my eta, confirmed my access code and left me a note with everything I needed to know when I got in. Earplugs and a mint on my pillow! Coffee was included and delicious, staff was amazing and so warm.

I can’t think of a single thing. Exceeded all expectations.
