We just love this hotel! This was our third visit as it's ideally situated for a stop-over when en route from Salamanca to Lugo (and many other places). Kiko, the owner is a lovely man - very friendly and easy going. Each time we have stayed the room has got better, not that there was anything wrong with the first one. But they all individual and have very nice personal touches. On this occasion we were given the room with its own spa/sauna, although it was much too hot to want to take advantage of it! There is a beautiful enclosed courtyard to enjoy a drink/coffee/breakfast and the hotel restaurant has a very good menu and the food is of a very high standard. We had cecina as a started to share and it was to die for! By far the best cecina we had all trip, and we had quite a lot! The steaks are also very good and cooked to perfection. Whilst there is not a lot to see in Villalpando, there is a small town square with a few bars and a couple of other bars/restaurants around the town. The hotel restaurant is definitely the place to have dinner though. Good sized room, large and comfortable bed and pillows, a fabulous bathroom with big, fluffy towels and nice toiletries and best of all, great aircon which was definitely needed during the heatwave! Also, free parking on all the streets, or the hotel has free private parking across the road, Can't wait to go back :)

Lovely traditional building, very clean and well maintained with helpful friendly hosts. Unfortunately we had a huge delay getting to the property and didn’t arrive until nearly midnight but the hosts left a number for us to call, they arrived promptly when we rang and were so kind and understanding, quickly showing us to our room to sleep and leaving the check in process until the next day. Sadly our late arrival meant we never got to experience the spa facility, but the breakfast was lovely with warm croissants and other pastries, huge mugs of coffee and tea and freshly squeezed juice.

This was our second stay at this lovely old, traditional hotel. The staff are very friendly and the whole place is spotlessly clean. All the rooms are individually decorated and there is a beautiful Andalusian-style patio where you can enjoy a drink or a coffee. The restaurant is very good and the prices are reasonable for a hotel. There is also a spa which looks lovely but we haven't tried it - it was way too hot when we went! The bed and pillows were really comfortable and the aircon, thankfully, was very good. The bedroom was thoughtfully designed and very quirky with a sunken bath in the bedroom. Our only issue with that was that it was impossible to use the shower attachment without spraying the bedroom as it had a very keen recoil function! Using the shower was a two person job (or maybe that's the idea!!) The location of the hotel is ideal as a stopover when travelling East/West or, as we did, en route from Vitoria to Salamanca. There isn't a lot in the town but there is some nice architecture and a lovely little square with bars/restaurants. There is plenty of free on-street parking around the hotel. We would definitely stay again, but maybe not in the same room!

The spa was great for the four of us. We stopped here on our way to Galicia and it was very convenient.

There is nothing to do in the village. The surroundings are not nice. On the lower floor the space was limited, difficult to move around and overcrowded with things. A food in the restaurant could be better.

We were able to park on the street outside without difficulty, but I imagine there could be busy periods when this wouldn't be possible. The entrance to the private car park is adequately wide (contrary to what others have suggested): the problem is manoeuvring in due to cars parked in the narrow street directly opposite. Directions to the hotel could be better. There are a couple of signs near the main road, but these peter out once you are in the back streets, and I couldn't have found the hotel without seeking directions.

Individually styled rooms. Lovely courtyard. Comfortable lounge. The restaurant food was delicious. Very friendly owners and staff.

Insufficient lighting over bath. Access to sunken bath tricky and difficult if only showering.

Lovely family run hotel with the added bonus of it’s own spa (small additional cost), good food, ideal location and free parking.

The only very small thing for improvement would be an insect killer in the main restaurant! Having said that we would highly recommend this hotel as a lovely place to stay.

Beautiful and very large room. Superbly comfortable bed and a pleasure to stay. Dinner and breakfast were good and the owner and staff were very helpful.

Our suite with private sauna was pure luxury! Every detail was carefully thought out...large room comfortable bed, huge bathroom etc. The restaurant food was average, but the hotel staff were very helpful. I would definitely recommend.

The hotel is in a narrow side street in a small village, so a car is essential.

Lovely setting, and it is easy to park our motorbike outside . Rooms were clean and classy . Evening meal was very good . The host was very friendly
