A real retro hotel, which has been well maintained and operated. Everything is clean and beautiful, and the location can’t be beat. And there’s so much there, with a small store, arcade, and karaoke rooms all in the building. Facilities may be a bit older but I found it charming, and plenty luxurious. Especially considering the price. The shuttle takes care of transportation from Sendai station and back. Just check the times.

No issues, really! Beware you may have some roadblocks if you don’t speak some Japanese, but it shouldn’t cause serious problems.

The hotel staff were all very helpful and welcoming. The dinner with abalone and oyster was among the best I have ever had. Lots of food at the breakfast buffet. I especially loved the croissant, olive ciabatta and cranberry pecan bread with Hokkaido butter. I also loved the organic coffee, sweet cherry tomatoes and onsen egg. It was my first time soaking in an onsen with beautiful sea view. A short walk from the hotel, the Jinja Coffee place was lovely.

It would be better if towels were provided at the onsen. I had to walk back to my hotel room to get the towel.

This is a big box spa hotel located on the coast in between some of the sites of the worst destruction of the tsunami of 11-3-11. There is an exhibition in one of the halls. The hotel rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The spa rooms, though large, are pleasant and the outdoor baths are great. When you stay at a big spa hotel in Japan, one should choose dinner and breakfast as a matter of routine. However, the food here is anything other than ordinary. Delicious and wonderful would be better words.

Everything exceeded our expectations. Staff service was impeccable, onsen was awesome, dinner served was delicious with lots of thoughts in preparing the table with your name and serving the food with such beautiful plating. Room facing the Shizugawa Bay was awesome with seagulls visiting the balcony. You can practically see sunrise from the room. Room was clean and bedding was comfortable. Toiletries was great.

Will be great if towels can be provided at onsen. I had to bring the towels down from the room.

The fresh onsen with open-air views over the ocean is the highlight of this place = and worth quite a lot. The food is quite traditional japanese, authentic but not great. Walk 500m for a once-in-a-lifetime coffee experience @ Jinja coffee. The guy running the place is makes it worth the visit … and the drip coffee is good (but he serves no espresso or lattes).

The outdoor pool is not maintained and therefore ’green’ … but the indoor onsen is fully compensating for this.

The hotel has uninterrupted ocean views from spacious rooms and a sizable onsen with indoor and outdoor pools, and very good food for dinner and breakfast was included. Staff were engagingly cheerful and, as is typically our experience in locations away from major tourist trails, work impressively hard to communicate in English. Though we didn't use it, there's a (free?) shuttle bus to and from Sendai. A short taxi ride to and from the station and tsunami-related sights in Shizugawa is affordable.

Onsen with seaview is really pretty. Dinner and breakfast were good. There's a big supermarket (shop) at the hotel.

Room is a bit dated. They did not tell us that the south wing lifts can only access the indoor onsen for men. We found out that for the outdoor onsen, you have to access the onsen using the lifts from the north wing.

The hotel is absolutely fantastic, which spectacular views over the bay. It feels like you are on a cruise ship. The dinner was delicious and we could try the Japanese delicacy Awabi for the first time. Breakfast was also an extensive buffet. Staying in a Japanese style room was a new experience for my parents, and they were worried about the comfort of futon, but we doubled-up the mattresses for them and it was comfortable enough.

Buffet Breakfast was excellent with a range of Japanese and western foods available. Included evening meals provided a great range of local cuisine. The Onsens were terrific with 180 degree views of the bay, as were the rooms.

nothing to dislike
