The property was so cool, it was a very comfortable traditional house that stayed cold on very hot days. Plus there was aircon too. The property was also very clean and well looked after. The hosts are very lovely and welcoming and so accomodating. It is a small local village and a very authentic experience. We absolutely loved our stay, the local tavern is always buzzing with people from the village (a small number), there is a cute little gift shop and some walking by trails close by. The closest town where you can get the bus is Vryses which is about a 50 min walk down hill

It is quite far from a lot of the attractions and a little bit difficult without a car but it is easy to taxi from Vryses and bus around from here. We also walked the 50 min walk from Vryses a number of times. We enjoyed this plus made friends with the locals who were kind enough to give us the occasional ride

We loved our stay! It's a very nicely restored old traditional building that now has everything you might need. It has a nice cozy bed, bathroom and even a small kitchen and fridge if you need one. Family that runs these rooms is so amazing and welcoming. They also have a restaurant nearby where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner and have a real village experience with a mix of a few other tourists and locals. All in all amazing experience far outside of touristy locations, only genuine people and good food. Location is also great for hikers or people with a car who want to explore other nearby villages that are also amazing. Hope we'll be able to come back to Vafes again!

Location in a lovely, quiet village, close to Vryses, Georgioupoli and Lake Kournas. Friendly hosts (serving great food at the cafe!), powerful air con and best of all: the terrace - perfect for stargazing and spotting satellites… Such great value for money - thank you so much, we can’t wait to go back!

The village, the people that live there, everything is so warm and welcoming. The best experience on Crete. The locals showed us the life on Crete. The local taverna is amazing, the food homegrown and unbelievable. This is the place where I will always return to eat an amazing lamb and say hi to these amazing people.

Beautiful rustic house. Authentic but all the required comfort for us. The place is quite large including a nice terrace. Air conditioning on both floors. Affordable breakfast and dinner on site if needed. Maria and her mother were very nice throughout our stay. Thank you so much!

Our stay at Vafes Traditional Houses was amazing, a truly unique experience away from the busyness of the touristic places. Everything was clean, tidy and ready for us. A charming tavern just next to it with food and drinks, very local vibe. Would definitely recommend and come back as well!

Very nice stone house in a countryside village, not far from the coast. The ladies at the reception are kind and helpful, the restaurant has quality food, and it's open until late.

Lovely traditional stone house in a tiny, quiet village. The well equipped and cozy apartment had plenty of room for us (three people). Beautiful mountain view from the terrace. Breakfast at the nearby taverna where the very friendly owners were always available to answer questions etc.

The village is very small, no shops, no cash machine, two small tavernas. But also almost no tourists- which is why we chose it. :) Nearest larger village is about 10min drive away.

Vafes is a beautiful village off the beaten path. We enjoyed the traditional building with wooden doors and shutters and a great view of the hillside. The hosts taverna was very nice as well.

I found the bed to be uncomfortably firm.

We loved the athmosfare in the house and the willage. The house was nicely renovated and had a rustic charm. It was also a perfect place to explore the other pretty willages in the neighbourhood.
