Our stay at the Daymaruya Ryokan was unforgettable. The owners are such wonderful and warm-heartef people who made sure we had a wonderful stay. The ryokan has nice authentic rooms and great hot spring facilities. A public one for all guests of the hotel and a really nice private outside. Wirh the key provided by the ryokan, one has access to all other public hot springs in Shibu Onsen. A great experience. The owners made fresh coffee in the morning and offered transfer services from and to the train station and the nearby snow monkey park. We could easily have stayed longer!

Nothing. It‘s authentic. If you‘re looking for supermodern style this is not your place.

Lovely hosts, free shuttle from and to Yudanaka Station at the beginning and end of your stay. Big, Japanese-style room with tatami mats, futons and a small table. You have a little fridge in the room, hot water, drinking water at the reception, free green tea all day long and free coffee in the morning. The room has a private toilet and there are shared showers. There are various lounges throughout the Ryokan. What we liked best: there are three onsen in the hotel (one for men, one for women and a private one under the open sky. The latter you can use alone, as a couple, family or group of friends and it´s a nice possibility as the other onsen are seperated by gender. You also get a key which gives you access to nine public onsen in the village. There are big bathing towels and Yukata in the hotel. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience to walk in Yukata and wooden sandals from one bathing house to another and enjoy the hot springs. Daymaruya Ryokan is a perfect place to relax and to escape from daily life. The village is beautiful and peaceful, as well as the surroundings, so I can recommend to go for a walk. You can reach the village from Nagano or Matsumoto. The hosts are always around and very helpful.

We loved our stay and have nothing negative to say.

We LOVED our stay. The owners and friendly, kind, helpful and welcoming. Our room was large with a private wash closet. (Shower room is common). They picked us up and dropped us to the train, took us up to the snow monkeys and offered suggestions and advice about locations in town. They are always kind and we were happy to run into them in the hallways and say hello. They have male and woman baths and a private osen also available. You can place your order a traditional breakfast in advance of the morning if you want one. They have a map of the local area with recommendations for food. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nothing.

This was simply a wonderful ryokan The owners are a lovely couple - very kind and responsive, and they speak English The owner met us at the train station, took us to the Monkey Park, and even showed us where to find some delicious ramen (which we really did enjoy) The ryokan itself has a great onsen - just as good as public ones They also provided us with yukata, which was a nice way to experience Japanese culture At the end of our stay, the owner kindly drove us back to the train station I would absolutely recommend this place- one of the best we’ve ever stayed at!

One of the onsens is outdoors, though the water was very hot - I couldn’t stay in for more than 5 minutes (but I think it’s normal in the winter)

The couple running this traditional spot was friendly and helpful. I came to see the snow monkeys and they monitored the park's webcam for me, let me know when the monkeys arrived, and drove me right up to the park. One morning the only local breakfast spot was closed and the wife gave me some of the breakfast she had made. They picked me up and dropped me off at the local train station. All of this was no extra charge. I really appreciate their helpfulness and flexibility. The room was large, clean and had a nice sink and toilet area attached. The private onsen on site was lovely.

This was a beautiful Ryokan to stay at. The rooms were big and had an en suite toilet and sink. The hosts were absolutely lovely, picking us up from the station and bringing us to the monkey park, monitoring the camera at the park to make sure there were monkeys for us to see so as not to be disappointed. We had their traditional Japanese breakfast, which was delicious and set us up perfectly for the day. It's just axros the road from onsen Nr. 3 of the 9 onsen to visit, and they give you a key to access them all. I can only recommend this Ryokan. I'll try and return here again.

Fantastic value! Excellent location near onsens and dining in Shibu Onsen. Incredibly hospitable owners who took good care of us and drove us where we needed to go. Room was much bigger than indicated on booking.com - big enough for our family of 3 - and had a private toilet and sink. We enjoyed the private on-site onsens, both the sex-separated and family ones. Note that pillows are traditional buckwheat husk pillows which may be too firm for some (they may offer western style pillows too - we didn’t ask). Kaneshin was our favorite nearby restaurant for dinner.

Very spacious and beautifully presented rooms in traditional Ryokan in the middle of Shibu Onsen. Comfortable Tatami beds. Great to have private toilet. The onsite outdoor private Onsen and inside (male/female) onsens were fantastic. Loved the supplied Yukata and Geta for the Onsens. Key supplied for all public onsens through town. The owners were so helpful and kind, driving us to and from snow monkeys and to Yudanaka station for our train. Enjoyed the traditional home made breakfast delivered to our room at reasonable price in beautiful bento box.

Nothing. Shares bathroom facilities which we were fine with.

We booked two rooms—one for two adults and one for three teenagers. The rooms were spacious, and the tatami beds were incredibly comfortable. Each room had its own private toilet, and the shower area was conveniently located with the onsite onsens. There is also an outdoor private Onsen (which we unfortunately didn’t have time to use), as well as separate male and female indoor onsens for those who prefer not to brave the cold for the public ones. As guests of the ryokan, we had free access to eight out of the nine public onsens. Yukata and Geta were provided for use with the onsens. The owners were extremely helpful and kind, even driving us to the snow monkeys and to Yudanaka station for our train. My whole family was very happy with our stay.

While it's not the Ryokan's fault, we regretted not ordering breakfast. We slept so well that we didn't wake up early enough to get breakfast from the nearby restaurant, and by the time we arrived, there were limited options left. Additionally, since it's a small town, dinner spots tend to sell out quickly, and most restaurants close before 9pm. We recommend having dinner before heading to the public onsens.
