Desert Hills Lodge is a great choice to visit Deavlei, although its a half hour drive to reach the gate of Sossuslvlei. The rooms had breathtaking views especially during the sunset. Luxurious bathroom and comfy bedroom promising a top notch stay.

Apart from all the great amenities I have to note that we didn't have Wifi on our rooms, but that is typical for Namibia accommodation. The problem was that there was really poor Wifi even on Lounge and Breakfast areas, making it really hard for us to plan the trip ahead, we didn't even have the chance to contact our families on that days, to let them know we have reached safe on that part of the trip. Namibian lodges and hotels should really do better, if possible, in terms of Wifi, especially expensive lodges like Desert Hills. It's not a matter of recreation its a matter of travel safety and organisation.

The location was unbelievable. The staff especially Shili was so attentive, he even made sure we had a map for our Hot Air Balloon trip so we wouldn’t get lost. Some people took the Google map way and ended at the wrong location. The other staff were also very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and dinners were so scrumptious and the staff made sure to check back at each course.

The shower was never hot for a long time, 2mins if that. I think it was mainly our room cause others have said theirs was fine. The pool would be perfect if it was heated for winters.

The location is excellent. Most beautifully designed chalets. Excellent views over the plains.

The staff's hearts are not in the business they do not appear happy and check-in was a bit unorganised. Make sure the welcome towel and drink is close by not run to get it when check-in is completed? If you care about the place you work in then you pick up cushions that are flying around in a strong wind, I went outside during breakfast to fasten it to the chairs. You open doors when guests are struggling with their luggage up the chairs and just not stand watching them? Not all the staff in the dining room are well trained. The lodge, however perfect in all the other ways, needs a personal touch it almost feels like a chain hotel, just that little bit extra to make it stand out among all the other beautiful lodges in the area will be great.

On our first day it was extremely hot (43celsius) and the airconditioning wasn’t working properly, we were disappointed. But Titus and his team went out of their way to fix the problem. We absolutely loved our time after the problem was fixed. The food is excellent with different options daily. The pool was lovely and the view is one in a million. If you are planning on going to sossusvlei super early (due to the heat) they prepare a breakfast box for you to bring. All in all would recommend staying here.

Rich and tasty breakfast and dinner. Remote location and friendly personnel. Beautiful and large lodges decorated with great taste. We could observe oryxes walking in the area from the balcony. The pool area paired with light cocktails from the bar was the best for after lunch chill.

The rooms could be cleaned with much more attention. We have seen dusty shoe prints on the floor when we just entered the room. After first day one of the bathrobes was removed from the room so we were missing one. Due to cold weather it was uncomfortably cold in the room, the air-conditioner couldn’t warm it up.

This is one of the most surreal places I have ever stayed. The design is extraordinary, and the location in the middle of the Namib Desert is truly spectacular. The staff is attentive and very helpful, and I highly recommend this place.

The only issue is that sometimes the desert can have very strong and cold winds, and while the woven thatched roofs are picturesque, they don’t adequately insulate the rooms. The air conditioning helped reduce the discomfort, but it's good to know that this is the only downside of an otherwise great stay.

Absolutely stunningly beauiful lodges at the end of the world. It's like being on a different planet. Even plenty of wildlife around including Cape fox, Oryx, Jackals, birdlife. Facilities are great, apart from the wifi in the rooms (though it's good in the main reception/dining/bar areas. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was very good, and excellent value.

Wifi in the rooms, otherwise I can't fault this place at all.

Our stay at Desert Hills Lodge was absolutely perfect. Having been to Desert Hills Lodge 2 years ago and absolutely loved it, we decided to get married there this time. The lodge took care of everything and we only had to enjoy being at the lodge. The day of the wedding cannot be put into words, the management exceed all expectations. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you again! We had every wish fulfilled without even having to express it. We had a really great wedding ceremony in the desert, followed by a great decorated table with excellent breakfast right in the desert. It was arranged that we could stay there as long as we wanted, which is why we then hiked up the desert. Back at the lodge we had a sundowner on the private terrace and a "private" dinner, where again the table was so wonderfully decorated and the food excellent. Also the lodge itself and the service were, just like last time, just great. I can recommend a stay to everyone and will definitely come again.

Beautiful location. Large room with a great view and nicely appointed bathroom. Nice room deck for sunset watching and morning coffee. Meals were good. Thank you to Eric who came out on bar deck one evening with his laser pointer and helped us identify constellations. Special thank you to the two gentlemen who changed our flat tire for us. They were awesome.

Unfortunately, not all staff were pleasant. The gentleman, name withheld, who checked us in was rude and we had to interact with him several times. The door to the room, which faces the walking path that all guests use and opens right into the room, is glass. It is a door with side lights. The door is frosted like a shower door, however there is a 1-1.5 inch border all around which is clear glass. Disconcerting at night.

Unbelievable setting and location, well designed and set out in the most amazing landscape. Every possible thing was thought of when designed and built. The pool area overlooked by the bar restaurant, lounge area is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious and tasty.

All was great nothing we disliked!
