Zanzibella resort is beautiful. Really nice gardens, big enough pool (with a bar!), wonderful beach with white sand and quite private. There's barely any seaweed on the beach. The tide is not too bad. The beach is really, really beautiful. There's security on the beach and the hotel. And plenty of staff. People are always smiling and very keen in helping and answering questions (special thanks to Daisy). Rooms are even nicer looking than in the photos; bed- comfortable, pillows- just the right amount of softness/hardness. Very clean. No mosquitos!!! It's not quite Europe 5* so no fluffy towels or bathrobes, but I wasn't expecting European style comfort. We didn't have any power or water cut, but it's Africa, it can happen. Wi-Fi is intermitent on the beach but good inside the resort. There's only one restaurant with some shows in the evening. Food is alright, you'll find options to eat. We celebrated our daughter's birthday here, and the hotel was very accommodating and sorted a birthday cake at very short notice. There aren't many restaurants around, only 2-3 within walking distance (15-20 min). But you can book a taxi (use the hotel, it's a safer option) and go a bit further. Taxis are not very cheap, but it's better to book with the hotel. They also have a list of excursions and are happy to accommodate some others, not on the list. Excursions: you might be tempted to book some with beach boys as it's cheaper. I would advise this is risky based on my experience. Overall, our stay at Zanzibella was very good and everybody tried hard to keep us happy.

breakfast was good, good vegetarian options. the restaurant itself was amazing, great vegan and veggie options comparing to the rest of zanzibar. the staff was outstanding, always something happening at the hotel- helped us celebrate important occasions in an unforgettable way!! female owned hotel and female-led which is always appreciated by me. overall, great experience. The spa was amazing, massages on a very high level with incredible view. Quiet beach with security, felt extremely private.

The Hotel itself is really great, the room is amazing with great bathroom, very relaxing stay, the pool is huge with a pool bar, the SPA is so good, I had a massage there and it was really great for an affordable price, the whole place is an experience, very well cared garden, the breakfast was great and self service with many options, also the dinner in the evening was very good (biggest shrimp we ever saw), they always prepare some entertainment, like local music, it's a perfect place for the ones that are looking for big relaxation and enjoy to stay in the hotel, they also offer nice packages for adventures, like trip boats, snorkeling, etc. outside of the beach.

A Slice of Paradise at Zanzibella Hotel We had the most wonderful stay at Zanzibella Hotel and can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and genuine kindness. A special shoutout to Eggla, Ramadan, Josef, Richard and Maureen—along with the rest of the amazing staff—who truly made our days unforgettable with their friendliness and care. Our room was perfect: spacious, clean and the bed—massive and incredibly comfortable. We slept like babies every night. The location is a dream. Right on the beach, in a peaceful and calm setting. The garden is breathtaking, full of colorful flowers and birds singing in the trees—it truly felt like a little paradise. The hotel restaurant was another highlight. Every dish we tried was delicious, but we especially loved the daily “catch of the day” featuring different fresh fish, and the grilled octopus was just mouthwatering. Zanzibella has stolen our hearts, and we already hope to return soon!

The common areas: The pool with its swim-up bar and restaurant offers a cozy ambiance. The beautiful beach is just a few steps from the pool. The shows: The hotel organizes shows during dinner, with Maasai tribes and acrobatic dancers, all while sipping cocktails. The activities offered by the hotel: Snorkeling with turtles and dolphins, lunch on a sandbank in the middle of nowhere with a seafood platter. In short, my partner and I spent the most magical two weeks of our lives. If we could do it again, we would without hesitation. We will surely return for our honeymoon! This was our second time in Zanzibar (our first stay was in August 2024), and without hesitation we chose to return to Zanzibella Hotel & Spa and we are so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, it felt like coming back home. We were warmly welcomed at reception by the helpful and attentive staff, who made check-in smooth and pleasant. It was wonderful to recognize so many familiar faces from our first visit, it truly shows the consistency and dedication of the team. The bar staff are especially kind and always ready with a smile, making every drink feel special. The restaurant staff were equally professional and friendly, ensuring every meal was enjoyable and that we always felt well taken care of. What we appreciate most is the genuine hospitality: everyone works with heart, and it creates a warm atmosphere that makes you want to return again and again. Spending 12 days here was an absolute joy, and this stay has only strengthened our love for both Zanzibar and Zanzibella Hotel & Spa. We can’t wait to come back again!

The location of Zanzibella was a selling point. It’s secluded, the beach is clean and the area is quiet. A great place to disconnect and enjoy some down time. The staff was so welcoming and helpful: from the kindness of the receptionist Nasri, to the delicious food prepared by chef Amir, to the friendly and smiling servers Evelyn, Chiku, Hellen and many others. Not to mention the security guards and all the staff that made our stay very enjoyable. The massage therapist Edina was so wonderful.

One thing to be aware of when more than 2 people are staying in the room, the hot water runs out after ~2 showers. The water was still lukewarm and we worked around it, and it definitely did not impact our experience at the hotel.

Everything was perfect. The only small issue was that some of the machines in the gym weren’t working, but I informed the staff, and I believe they will fix it soon.

I appreciated that the staff at the reception were lively, welcoming, and full of smiles and hearty cheers. They ensured that my last-minute request was fulfilled, which was to place a happy birthday message on my sister's bed. I liked that staff member called Richard, he was so helpful and ready to take me pictures. Finally, the hotel met my expectations.

They were so money-conscious. To deliver food to our room, it cost $10, and we were not informed about it in advance. The $10 charge is too high for the short distance the staff had to walk to deliver the food to my room. Also, most of their staff didn't speak English, specifically the housekeeping staff. My sister needed to light her cigarette and asked a staff member to give her a light, the staff member told her that she couldn't get one from the kitchen, so my sis had to buy one. It didn't make sense because they were both standing in front of the kitchen.
