So...when you are doing the Camino Primitivo, you are staying at albergues or hostels, very often in shared rooms. The Hotel Palacio de Meras is a four star hotel and only about €8 p/p more than a hostel if you are staying in a double room. We literally thought we were in the wrong place when we arrived. It felt so luxurious!!! The rooms are large and have all the perks of an expensive hotel - great quality soap and shampoo in the bathrooms, a two-sided adjustable make-up mirror, a hair dryer...a mini-fridge... It has a formal dining room, a bar and tables out in the plaza. The portions were insanely big and delicious. And the location is great. A block away from a supermarket, half a block from a pharmacy, and close to other key businesses like cafes, bakeries, and bars.

Great location at the heart of Tineo. Historical building converted in a hotel

You could see that the maintenance and overall cleanliness was not of a 4 star hotel standard. Moreover, although the hotel advertises that it has parking, it’s not on the facilities and is not included in the price of the room. Also, maybe it was just seasonal as we visited it in August but it was just swarmed by flies. Finally, and the worst was the breakfast buffet. It’s simply abysmal for such a hotel, something more suitable for a backpack hostel.

Dear Wonderful Receptionists, I hope you both recognize yourselves in this message! I wanted to thank you once again for your warm welcome during my stay. After leaving your hotel, I was heading to Borres as part of my Camino Primitivo journey. I explained that one of the "albergues" in Borres was fully booked, and I couldn’t make a reservation at the other one. I even mentioned that I might have to sleep outside! You, the two lovely people at the reception (a gentleman and a lady) kindly gave me a double duvet, which I packed in my backpack. I then walked the 16 kilometers to Borres. When I arrived, I decided to continue to Hospitales and sleep in the ruins, in the middle of nowhere! As I approached the ruins, I saw a light coming from the opposite direction. Since it was 11 PM, I decided not to go any further to avoid encountering the person with the light at such a late hour. So, I ended up sleeping in the middle of nowhere! It was 12 degrees, it was raining, but thanks to the double duvet provided by you, I stayed warm and cozy! What an adventure it was! That night, I thought of you both and was so grateful. Thank you for everything! Warm regards, Valérie

This is a beautiful hotel in the centre of Tineo, which also has an albergue on the lower floor, so perfect for the Camino Primitivo. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, we ate at the restaurant, which was beautiful and the food we had was very good, and very reasonably priced. The room was comfortable with a good shower and plenty of power outlets.

Check in was a little slow as the check in for the hotel and albergue are one and the same, but there was a comfortable sofa to sit on while we waited.

Just the fact that a hotel with this level of service exists in a small and (what seems to be) economically declining but charming town like Tineo deserves an award on its own! It is a beautiful hotel, with very comfortable rooms, professional staff, and a restaurant that is on a very high level! We have chosen to return here and stay an extra night in Tineo because of this hotel and its restaurant. Comfy beds, with one of the best buffet breakfasts!

Nothing mentioned here should take some shine away, as the business model that keeps this hotel running is something to admire, but two things Karen in me would like to mention, in hope those could contribute to an even better customer experience: - if I book a room 6 months in advance, and ask for a room with a countryside view, I think I should be able to get an answer yes/no instead "if it will be available, we will try to accommodate". What kind of answer is that? - The restaurant seems to be a popular place for events, and as it is a space shared with a major part of the hotel, it can be noisy despite the good sound insulation of the rooms. If you seek a lot of relaxing time at the hotel I would inquire about their event schedule.

The decor and authentic renovations were impressive. The rooms were a decent size for a one night stay. It was conveniently located along the primitiveo. We got a good nights sleep. The small cafe downstairs was nice for a beer when we arrived.

The staff seemed preoccupied. The restaurant was practically empty at dinner but we were seated off in a corner and felt like we were imposing. The waiters were not helpful with menu translations. Breakfast was self serve with limited explanation.

Good Hotel in central location just off the Camino Primitivo, rooms were nice and spotlessly clean.

Menu del Dia for Pilgrims was expensive at 20 Euros per person and was not of 4 star quality to match the Hotel In general Hotel staff were friendly and helpful but we did experience 2 members of staff who were dismissive and unhelpful

All the staff at this hotel were genuinely warm and friendly, the room and bed were huge and very comfortable. They have a dedicated secure storage area for bikes complete with tools. The food in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast was excellent and it was all great value for money.

Nothing worth mentioning!

we booked at the last minute (on the day) but our room was amazing. It was on the second floor with windows overlooking the square right in the center of town. And we had a second level above our room with another bedroom & bathroom - it was such a great room, with a great breakfast and lovely reception staff. would definitely rebook if back this way again!

Nothing - it was all fantastic!

This historic building, located next to the City Hall, has an incredible view of the green hills of Tineo. Our room was spacious, with very comfortable beds, and featured both a bathtub and a shower. There's also a excellent restaurant and a nice bar downstairs.

We had only one key card for three people.
