We loved staying here and just wish we had planned on staying more nights. It was in a quiet location on a big property and everything was so well done! Mai (owner's name ---I hope I got that right) is just such a wonderful lady. We had dinner and breakfast there and the food was excellent. We liked the open air eating area/lounge. Our room was huge, super clean and so well designed. From the balcony you could look across to Laos. The bed was super comfortable and just everything about the place was great. We stayed here for one night enroute to Laos but next time would like to stay longer as it was so comfortable and peaceful. We had a boat trip booked on the Mekong for the next day and were picked up in the am to cross the Friendship Bridge border into Laos. Mai had our paperwork ready for us ahead of time to fill out for the border and just helped make everything so easy as we hadn't done this route before. I would highly recommend staying here and if possible, extend your stay and explore the countryside.

The property is beautiful with a huge amount of thought and detail has been put into the place, the owners have worked hard and gone the extra mile to make it unique and special. For us the location was perfect as we were crossing the border into Laos, a 12 minute drive from the property! The food was delicious, we enjoyed an evening meal which is freshly prepared and cooked for you. The breakfast was extremely tasty and gave us the energy we needed for the day. The owner Mai is a beautiful lady with a heart of gold and her son was the perfect host. He went out of his way to help us and was so attentive. This was a five class stay for us.

This place is absolutely spectacular. The room was huge and very comfy with a beautiful view over the hills and the river in the distance. The food is fantastic at the restaurant and they go out of their way to ensure you have everything you could need. For breakfast they even got up early so that we could eat something and have coffee before heading for the Laos border. The owner is fantastic and so very friendly and pleasant. Set up our taxi to the border and everything. Can't say enough good things about the stay. It was a very zen and pleasant stay.

Only booking for one night as we could have stayed much longer!

We loved the view from our room. We booked the Grand Master Suite and chose the 2nd floor so we could have an amazing 360° view of Chiang Khong. Mai, the owner of Baan Sakuna is lovely. She is very accommodating to the needs of the guests. You will need a vehicle to get out and about as its located a fair distance from restaurants and shops if you were to go by foot. There is a fabulous restaurant on site. We ate there the first night, but wanted to explore what else was around on our second night. The rooms either have very thick walls or sound proofing as we were told that guests would be arriving quite late and apologies were given for the noise in advance, but there was no noise or disruption of our beautiful and peaceful 2 nights that we spent at Baan Sakuna.

The property exceeded our expectations.

We searched for a quite, countryside, not pricey but nice place and we found just it. We were greeted by the nicest thai guy I ever met and immediately took care of our check in. The room was enormous, clean, beautiful, very very nice bathroom and shower, and the nicest view from the balcony. We enjoyed the quiet so much and went down multiple times to drink coffee in the lounge/bar at the reception, which is a really nice place as well. Nak helped us plan our upcoming trip and gave us a lot of good tips for traveling in the north. Worth every penny!

Mai is the BEST host!!! She sorted out our slow bait river crossing via text (in one day!) and had coffee waiting for us before we left in the morning! Thank you so much Mai!!! Amazing resort over looking the Mekong. Easy tuk tuk ride from bus drop off in town. walkable to huge grocery store and 7-11. Restaurant onsite serves good food in beautiful indoor/outdoor dining area. wish we were able to stay longer.

Our stay at the Baan Sakuna Hotel was wonderful! The property itself is simply gorgeous; approximately 8 acres of lush grounds with flowers everywhere! Very much reminded us of a property in the U.S. state of Hawaii. The property is farily new and the proprietor, Mia, personally designed the buildings, interiors, and grounds. The attention to detail she included in the property is very noticeable as the hotel was a labor of love for her. He son, Lak, assists Mia with management of the hotel. My wife and I also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant. Mia and Lak are in the ideal business as they are proud of their property and are the consummate proprietors; charming, warm, attentive to detail, and wanting to ensure my wife and I were comfortable. We loved our stay at the Baan Sakuna and cannot wait to come back and stay longer!!

Ours was just a short 1-night stay before taking the slow boat on the Mekong, but we really wished we could stay longer. The hotel is in a beautiful location, quiet but just a short tuk-tuk ride from the town centre, and from the rooms you can admire the amazing views over the surrounding countryside. The rooms are big, stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean, with all the amenities you might need. We also had dinner and breakfast there, and in both cases it was freshly prepared, tasty and plentiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful, an all-round 5* experience.

This is our favourite place we’ve stayed in the last 6 weeks of travelling. After an exhausting 2 days travelling on the boat, we finally arrived here and it was everything we needed. Felt so welcome, the owners are so lovely, so friendly and so helpful. Our tea was amazing and meant we could just relax after arriving. The rooms are huge and so so clean. Fridge, water, coffee, kettle etc in room. Beds are huge and comfy too. Bathroom is perfect. The scenery is just amazing and the balcony was amazing too! Can’t even describe how much we loved this place. Such amazing value for money. Never wanted to leave, could stay for a week!

Lovely place just outside of Chiang Khong. Very clean (I'm picky on clean and it was great!) and huge rooms with a lovely balcony overlooking the hills of Laos. They have some bikes to take on a river trail just past the hotel that we really enjoyed. A lovely mother and son team who are so sweet and have done such a great job with all the decor and making you feel special. A perfect place to stay before the slow boat trip. We would have even liked to have stayed 2 nights to relax a bit. HIghly recommend!
