The Room was extremely clean and comfortable. The environment lovely and the grassy front area excellent. Very pleasant all round. The small kitchen was also amenable. Staff were friendly too. Overall its a good stay and good value for $..
The Rooms needs CHAIRS... There is good table for eating re: Kitchen facilities but NO CHAIRS. You have to sit on the edge of the bed. There is lovely garden area to sit in the sun and have a glass of wine but only 2 outdoor chairs in the whole place! The parking facilities to the south of the building really need some work. A couple more coffee for a multiple night stay would be beneficial. And please check the TV as there was no access to it our entire stay. These suggestions would give the Lodge an excellent. Thank you

The location was great - we could walk to the pub. The decor of the rooms was nice. We appreciated the special price for this weekend, which is why we came.
They can definitely use more outdoor seating in the garden or some picnic tables. People are coming for the nature, and there were only 2 chairs in the garden which were always occupied, as the lodge seemed almost full. We had to carry a table and 2 little benches down from our room on the second floor to sit on. There also is no ice machine, and nowhere to buy ice, and the liquor store does not sell white wine!!!!

Accommodations were nice overall--Clean room, freshly painted, good coffee and tea-making provisions, small fridge, nice bathroom, etc. Orientation at the Guest Services building was friendly and thorough. The grounds are well-maintained and was nice to have a small staffed espresso/coffee near the Guest Services building.
The only issues were a broken window blind (still functional with effort) and the TV didn't work despite a staff member's best efforts to solve the problem. However, this is a remote location with little access to supplies, so these problems were understandable and no big deal.

The location was great, very well placed in Port Renfrew. The bathroom was good with plenty of hot water and a nice bath. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean and new. The parking was convenient. The stairs up to the unit were only a short flight. The pub was very close to get a great meal. We arrived after 5 and did not see any staff either then or at check out so I can’t comment on the staff. The after hours check in was smooth.
There was a kitchenette with a toaster and kettle but no power outlets in the kitchen to plug them in. We plugged them in beside the bed. The kitchenette also had a range hood but no cooktop. We were misled by the photo we saw of the range hood and assumed there was a cooktop underneath it. Fortunately there was a microwave so we could cook the eggs we brought, but not the bacon. There was a foldout table in the room but no chairs so we ate on our laps. I only mention these things because they were unusual, so future guests can be prepared.

Coffee facilities were provided but really no place to sit down and more surprisingly no utensils (for stirring coffee or tea if one adds sugar or cream) and no kitchen type cloths for cleaning up a mess or drying counter tops or mugs. So I used the bathroom stuff which just didn't seem right....There was a huge fold out table - but no room to open it up - and no chairs or room to sit by it if you could (I used a bed-side table as a chair). They should have a sign as you enter the property that directs you to the check-in - a sign that simply says "Guest Services" in not commuincative.

The room was really nice and had a fridge and coffee. Everything was new and clean and pretty. The property has a nice garden area around it and it’s quiet and peaceful. It’s a very close walk to a coffee stand and a few minutes to a restaurant and the dock which has a beautiful view. Noticed there’s pickup for the backpack trails close to where you check in.
Parking lot was a little strange and the property is on a dead end road which is fine but kinda a funny placement of the building, maybe, I’m trying to decide. Half the hotel faces outward with possible view of water or garden and other half faces part of the parking lot.

Absolutely great place to stay for a quiet break. Try to ensure you get a front room as the view on rear rooms not very good. Look at photos. The life blood is the pub which is great. It's a long way from anywhere.
The WiFi was pretty rubbish but it's a rural location so wouldn't expect it to be 5g. Pub WiFi far more reliable and fast. The fact there was no spare pillows even on asking at reception. I stay in hotels in my job as a taxi driver and spare pillows even in the most basic bed and breakfast is a must/given.

A great, basic hotel in a beautiful spot. The room was very clean and the kitchenette was good. Check in was a cinch with the information provided in advance. Yes, it's very dark outside but that's part of being in Port Renfrew. The pub is a 3 minute walk and has great food.
You can hear everything in the rooms above & the fridge is very loud. Even with earplugs I struggled to sleep

Loved the quiet location yet within walking distance to the Pub or Coastal Cafe We even had a view of the treetops and ocean.
Not much natural light in the room but not in the area to spend time in your room so that was minimal. Even though the Hotel has wifi, you are unable to download anything so have downloaded books, podcasts, maps etc.before leaving Sooke.

Great little spot. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfy. Perfect spot for hikers looking for a handy base in the wilderness. Great pub 2 minutes walk away. Really feels isolated in the forest. such a nice feeling to wake up in the forest and smell the fresh air and have real wilderness on your doorstep.
If you want a lot of choices or variety for drinks out, coffee, meals out etc this may not be not for you. Although what there is we really enjoyed , the latest anything really stays open until is 8pm ish.
