A cozy and atmospheric hotel in the middle of beautiful nature. Interesting interior design with an ethnographic bias and art objects. There is a modern spa area with a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi (free for hotel guests). Own free parking. Delicious breakfasts and a wonderful dinner. There is no air conditioning or minibar in the room, it was very hot like in a sauna, it was hard to breathe from the stuffiness and it was not comfortable to be in the room. There were no robes for visiting the spa area, you need to pay 150 NOK to rent a robe. There was no towel for feet after showering in the room

Hotel is located in very calm area, surrounded by gorgeous Norwegian wild forests. We have been here out of the main season, thanks to that hotel was pretty empty. For a special attention hotel restaurant deserves. Both breakfasts and dinners are prepared on the highest level. Breakfast is very diverse and beautifully served. You will definitely find something for yourself. For dinner we can have very limited number of dishes but those are amazing. I think it is advantage, because it makes you sure they are made of fresh ingredients. For a special attention deserves the waiter (bald man with a beard and huge muscles 😂). He was very talkative and helpful and professional 👏🏻. (He definitely deserves pay raise 😊) we felt really taken care of.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We had 1 night en route to Odda. The lady on reception was lovely and friendly. Rooms were very comfortable, clean, and good value. Evening meal was a lovely experience and good food too. Breakfast was good, too. The hotel isn't far from a lake that my husband and son enjoyed swimming in.

We stayed over Easter and enjoyed taking snow shoes (trygge) walks just a stone’s throw from the property. The staff were friendly and helpful and provided us with a paper map to Håtveitgrendi. Høydalsmo offers great ski tracks just 10 minutes’ drive from the hotel (if you use JPS, go for Høydalsmo barnehage or skule for a stress-free ride). Otherwise pretty much everything was closed during our stay, including Ski Adventure, located on the property. It’s really beyond my comprehension why on earth a ski museum would be closed in winter, only to be re-opened in May. Also the Olympic flame was only visible in the dark. The hotel’s restaurant was the only place to have dinner, since all the cafés and small taverns were closed for the season. Dinners were tasty, even though they followed a strict pattern of main courses. However, with just two days’ stay, it wasn’t a big issue. I loved taking a swim in the swimming pool before breakfast, which was a sensational experience with the view of snow-covered fields and hill tops outside. Unfortunately, sauna was hot just on the arrival day. The two following days, I made do with just swimming in the pool.

We stayed at superior suite and there was enough space for a family of three and a dog. There were some small nuisances, however. There were no bath robes, even though they were mentioned in the room description. We had candles, but the gas-lighter didn’t work. I put the sign “please, clean my room”, but the room service didn’t arrive. Even to change the towels. I didn’t bother to report these “accidents” to the reception. I wish I mentioned sauna, however.

One of the best hotel we stayed in during our road trip in Norway. Beautiful scenery. Little family hotel with all the comfort. Breakfast and dinner awesome. I would come back and stay there a bit longer especially in Winter would be great…

Breakfast good and dinner buffet was great.

For older people it is a bit long to be on top (5th) floor. 2 elevators and long walk. Were not guided to the elevator. Otherwise really liked our stay.

Nice authentic hotel . Close to Telemark canal . Very good food for dinner and also breakfast was abundant .
