Big Sky Ranch is a magnificent stud farm near Colesberg in the Karoo. We stayed there before on our way to the Western Cape. The dinner and breakfast served to us was very well prepared and we enjoyed sitting on the stoep of the farmhouse looking out over the dam and perfectly manicured lawns, enjoying a glass of chilled white wine after a very long day on the road.

Previously we stayed in one of the renovated stable rooms. That room was big and luxuriously furnished. This time we stayed in a cheaper loft room. Unfortunately, the aircon was not functioning properly and we had a sweaty sleepless night, The next morning my husband tried the Nespresso machine but that was also out of order, and we had to make do with some instant coffee

Our stay at Big Sky was fantastic. Nikhita was exceptionally helpful and greeted us on arrival with cold towels which were great after a long drive. She took us on a tour of the facilities which are stunning and really makes the place a little oasis, with big lounge rooms, great dining area, a massive pond great swimming pool out the front. The food was fantastic with lamb on offer for dinner and a great breakfast in the next morning. The rooms are super comfy and the setting overall is relaxing and really pleasant. Would highly recommend this and even though we only stayed a night we wanted to stay longer and wish we could have

Cannot recommend this place enough! The staff were fantastic - so warm and welcoming and the attention to detail was much appreciated. We arrived with two small children and they provided a cot for our baby and set the table for our toddler with her own child-friendly cutlery and meals. The food was delicious and worth the extra cost! There were many complimentary treats and a well-stocked bar. The pool area and golfing green made this more than just a one-night stay-over guesthouse when passing through but a place we would actually want to come back to for a weekend.

Beautiful renovated farmhouse with a stunning view. The staff were most accommodating and welcoming. We stayed over Easter Sunday and the staff went out of their way to make our day special with lots of Easter treats and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Food was also excellent. I would recommend staying more than one night so that you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and activities- like the pool, tennis court and putting green. All in all a great find and we definitely intend on returning!

As we left my husband and I both said what a restful night! Everything was so beautiful and clean. Comfy beds and delicious bath tub! We were warmly welcomed by the host Catherine. Dogs everywhere 😍 it was like a dream while travelling with our two small dogs. We were made to feel like home, you are allowed around the entire farm no restrictions..complimentary tea/coffee, cake and scones on arrival. Dinner was lovely and so was breakfast. Honesty bar system is great. Heaters and fires all night long as we traveled mid winter. I will definitely be returning during our next long road trip.

What a beautiful ranch. Great experiencing the tranquility out on the lawn and pool area. Seeing the horses being taken out of the stables in the morning was awesome.

We love dogs, have 2 of our own. Great to know you can take them with. However, not great having so many dogs in the dining area while you eating. Dogs begging for food and being under your feet while you eat, not great.

This is the most amazingly beautiful hotel we have yet to stay in! The hidden jewel of Colesburg!! This was once a home of Gary Player and is now a hotel and racehorse stud farm. You are warmly welcomed by Eddie and Gorgeous the two hotel dogs and your own fur-baby is very welcome. This is amazing considering the extremely high standard of the furnishings, artwork and areas throughout. Jerome followed the dogs with his welcome and was a delightful and very attentive host during our stay. This is a dog friendly hotel for dog friendly people! The room (No 6) was beautifully decorated and had french doors out to the gardens. There is also a swimming pool and a putting green. The honesty bar, snacks and the great food served up by Busi, Madeleine and the other ladies was very well presented and appreciated. The overall staffs attention to detail was amazing, and you will feel very blessed that you make this stop! We did!

Absolutely nothing!! A fantastic find that we will use again, and will highly recommend to anyone...especially if you love dogs...and horses!

Room was really nice with everything you could require. Ample cupboard space and draws. Very nice bathroom ensuite. Beautiful and tranquil surrounds. Ample space to walk and enjoy the views and bird life. Dinner was delicious, with a 3 course meal, including a tasty salad, roast lamb and potato & veggies, also homemade gravy and mint sauce. All rounded off with a creme brute and cheese platter. Breakfast was again very tasty and fresh with many choices. Wonderful to see all the beautiful horses that are being trained and groomed on the grounds. Beautiful walks and bird life all around. We would definitely stay here again.

Our room was a bit close to the neighbours and patio seating area was close to each other loosing some privacy. Extra electrical plugs for those who wished to use a hairdryer in front of a mirror. WiFi was not great in our room, this can definitely be improved on as well as the speed thereof.

We will definitely be returning! Jarome and the staff were exceptionally professional, going above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The breakfast seating location was perfect, offering a wonderful atmosphere, and the food—featuring delicious locally made bread—was outstanding. We absolutely loved it! Truly a fantastic ranch and excellent value for money.

Maybe I am old school but I did not like the toilet in the room.

The staff were lovely food was great the property was very well maintained and in a beautiful location . The room was very well appointed and comfortable. Pet friendly which I love as it gives the place a homely feel as it is a working farm after all. next time I will definitely spend an extra night .

My water pressure wasn't great but that's about the only thing I can think to complain about
