Excellent on all counts. Fantastic breakfast experience. Room and all facilities were exceptional. Best hosts ever experienced with booking.com over the past 25 years. Located in the heart of the Axarquia region in a very interesting and beautiful town (Canillas de Aceituna - a little paradise in the hills east of Malaga). The small town has fantastic old style Spanish restaurants, well priced and very welcoming. The whole region is steeped in tradition and history. The tourist map has 5 driving routes in amongst the mountains reflecting: The history of 1. the "Moors", 2. Sun & Avocados, 3. Sun & Wines, 4. Olive oil & the Mountains, and finally 5. The route connected with the production of raisins. The Axarquia region has at least 40 villages well worth visiting. Many of these villages have been the venues for our local Orienteering Club (COMA)... one word of warning ... there are many slopes and steps in most of these villages. This region is easily accessible by the main dual carriageway (A7) East of Malaga. There is a large shopping centre alongside the A7 between Velez Malaga and Torre del Mar. The latter has excellent beaches.

There was a bike race on Sunday and we were unable to access the exit road for about 45 minute. Not a major problem.

This is a very nice and comfortable guest house. Our room was very clean with a nice atmosphere, nice room decor and very comfortable bed. This is a boutique place. The owners of the guest house also build the atmosphere of the place. Breakfasts are very tasty, interesting, also "boutique". In the guest house you can make yourself coffee or tea. There is also a self-service bar. You can buy drinks at good prices, fine wines, sherry... This building is located in an ideal city centre. This building is the starting point for the most important hiking trails. Me and my wife are very happy with this place. The culture of this place combines elements of Spanish, Moroccan and ... Swiss culture. Why is it like that ? You have to go there and check it out for yourself.

It was so beautifully decorated and everything was thoughtfully arranged for a comfortable and special stay. Easy check in with friendly info from hosts prearrival and the place was immaculate and inviting. It was centrally located near the main facilities of the town and right next to the fountain and main square (very pretty). My room looked out onto this which was lovely and I was able to read with the balconette doors open in a pool of sunshine in the afternoon. Complementary tipple and snack in the room and hot and powerful shower with toiletries provided. Appreciated the air con and heated rail int he bathroom which kept me toasty despite the cooler weather especially in the evenings. Netflix provided for evening entertainment. The bed was incredibly comfy with soft and fresh smelling sheets - I slept like a baby (and wasn’t disturbed my any noise). The hosts were English-speaking (which was a relief for me after days of getting by on terrible Spanish!) and so very genuinely friendly and attentive. They had prepared a special vegan breakfast for me having found out my dietary requirements when I booked and it was amazing!!! Beautifully presented, well portioned and delicious! It is evident that the hosts but their hearts into this guesthouse and I left wishing I could stay longer in this warm and welcoming sanctuary.

Graham and Rosa are two very genuine/non pretentious /extremly kind people with good souls and a big love for their guests and their guesthouse. This is shown in the way they treat their customers and in all the details in and around Olive & Ivy which is situated in the centre of the town right next to the beginning of a beautiful walk through the mountains. Breakfast there.... I havent seen anything like it... creative, healthy, full of colour, almost a pity to eat it, and has to be photographed, small pieces of art they are! We stayed on the top level which had a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/living area and the most wonderful balcony/terras with spectacular views over the white village and mountains. Every day the sky was a different colour. You could stay there the whole day daydreaming. The pressure in the shower was fab. Every day we were treated with fresh towels, a sherry and salty almonds,.... every day our place was spotless clean, fresh sheets, dishes done, etc. We felt very welcome. This is such a special place with special people. it was hard to leave and I am sure that we will return there soon.

There was absolutly nothing not to be liked

The building is recently renovated and very nicely decorated. The room was quite wide and bright and provided with al you need for a comfortable stay. The B&B is located in the center of the village and closed to the restaurants and the other local attractions. There is a common area where the host can enjoy a tea and listen to nice music. The breakfast is delicious and freshly prepared from the hosts. Definitely one of the best accommodation in which I have been. Highly recommended.

Olive and Ivy which is run by Graham and Rosa, a Geordie and South-African, is a fantastic haven of peace and tranquility in the midst of Canillas de Aceituno. The place is immaculate and interior-designed to within an inch of its life by the enigmatic Rosa, who also doubles up as the breakfast waitress, which by the way is spectacular. Graham's past expertise working for some of the most prestigious hospitality venues in the world is on conspicuous display as he turns out one sublime dish after another. If he's not careful, he might end up with a Michelin star just for his breakfasts alone. The rooms are very comfy and compact as it is a several hundred year old Moorish house smack bang in the middle of the town, right next-door to the town hall. Opposite the house is the town fuente, a Moorish fountain, which produces the most delicious water fresh from the Maroma mountainside and is a free source of nutritious, vitamin enriched water to fill up your water-bottles with. The B&B is also right next to the beginning of the trek up to El Saltillo, the recently opened hike up to a brand new suspension bridge constructed just outside of town. My wife and I did it and it was a great journey, but I would suggest bringing plenty of water and other supplies with you when you do it and sensible hiking footwear. In short, you cannot go wrong booking the Olive and Ivy Guesthouse and will come away a better person for it.

This is absolutely a gem-you wont find often such amazing properties like this one! Design,location,comfort and special atmosphere-all in one place! Breakfast like in the best restaurant! This place is so beautiful and is located in the center of village! Views from terrace are gorgeus!

Graham and Rosa are amazing hosts. The accommodation is simply beautiful. We were travelling with our 2 young boys and found the family room perfect for our needs, the views from private terrace are breathtaking. It’s right in the heart of a lovely small Spanish white washed village. Graham recommended a fantastic restaurant just a minutes walk away and it did not disappoint. Lastly but certainly not least The Breakfast … WOW … be hard to beat, it was absolutely delicious. My husband is Vegan and they prepared to the most amazing spread for him, we were blown away by their hospitality. Thank you so much Graham & Rosa, we will definitely be back x

We tend to pick bed and breakfasts which have ‘exceptional’ breakfasts, but we both agreed that this was the most exceptional of exceptional breakfasts, and really needs a new category of superlatives! Amazing, delicious, healthy, plentiful, and different every day! In addition each day in our room we found some toasted almonds and Pedro Ximenez to drink – what a treat! Our hosts were so kind and attentive, and went out of their way to recommend things to us and do everything they could to make our stay perfect. They were incredibly helpful and lovely. They booked us into a restaurant which was so good we booked it again the next day. They recommended a walk to a suspension bridge which was really interesting, along a watercourse, though you really need a good head for heights and a certain level of fitness (for the ups and downs at start and end) to enjoy it fully. Very dramatic and a good way to see some of the local countryside. We also went to visit the caves at Nerja, about 45 mins drive, and would recommend highly, however Frigiliana, supposed to be one of the prettiest villages in Spain, we felt was over-touristy and a bit disappointing. Stick with Canillas de Aceituno – it’s just as pretty! Wandering around the village around the guesthouse was a delight.

Our room was small (we managed, but was difficult with large luggage), but it was lovely, with a great view of the little square where the house of the Moorish Queen is.

Everything was emaculate from start to finish... The service was 10 stars, the new design of the place makes you feel confortable from the first step into reception... The bed and room was lovley, clean throughout and really made us feel right at home.... The owners were always on hand via what'sapp to ensure we have everything etc... I will be recommending to everyone. If your doing the walk in Canillias or passing through the town.. then make sure you stay at Olive & Ivy!! P.S Make sure you have the breakfast, all homeade and fresh!!!! Probably the best place for value we have stayed in Malaga!!!!
